Chapter 246: 246- Poison
When Rafael entered the corridor of the hospital, Dean was already there leaning against the wall. His folded arms dropped down as soon as he spotted Rafael.
“What’s the situation?” he asked Dean looking at the ICU door.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t want to call you here, but the doctors told me that his life was in danger,” Rafael placed his hand in his jeans pocket.
This kind of incident never happened in any MSin office.
“Did you check CCTV footage for something unusual?” he asked in a hardened tone. Dean remembered about Delinda, but he wasn’t sure of it. He couldn’t name an innocent person until he had proof.
“According to MSin policies our cameras are only outside of the meeting rooms, not inside, Mr. Sinclair.”
Rafael scratched his forehead. He needed to get in touch with someone related to law enforcement.
“Why have our seats got nails? Didn’t we throw away that pathetic quality furniture a long time back? And if they were there, why nobody got injured before today?” he said more to himself, and then his eyes formed narrow slits when he saw Dean, deep in thought.
“What’s the matter? There is more to it. Isn’t it?”
Dean rolled his lips between his teeth with uncertainty, “The seat that had nails, belonged to …” he hesitated for a moment, “It belonged to Marissa, Sir.”
Rafael thought he heard it wrong.
“What!” he barked, not caring that they were standing in the hospital, “What are you saying? Do you mean to say that…” he held Dean’s collar and gave it a wild shake
Dean didn’t try to fight him and nodded, “It’s not good to send her to that room anymore, Mr. Sinclair. There is someone…”
“Who can be after her life?” Rafael left his collar and stepped back with a guilt-stricken face, “No!” he shook his head and looked at Dean, “No, Dean! They can go and fu*ck themselves,” Rafael ran his hand through his hair in frustration.
He was supposed to enjoy this day with his wife and kids, instead, he was here because a man who was his employee was admitted to ICU because there was poison running in his blood. And the attack was on his wife.
“I’ll try to talk to them and …” Dean tried to reason with him, but Rafael was seething with anger and Dean could see his flaring nostrils.
“Dean. I don’t want any event at the cost of my wife’s life. Cancel it! And send all of them home!”
Dean’s jaw was hung open. What was he saying?
“Y-You can’t be serious, man!”
“Oh, I’m serious,” he snarled, “I’m willing to send them home for all I care…”
Dean realized that this was the man he had heard about when they used to talk about him.
Ruthless and cold-hearted. Total opposite of his wife.
When Marissa was too kind to harm anyone, he could kill easily and move forward like he just had a steak.
The man was head over heels for his wife.

Marissa felt odd. It was an absurd situation. Rafael left home too quickly without even informing him.
Instead of telling her, he sent the message by a butler that he had to attend to some emergency.
What was so urgent that he didn’t even bother to inform her?
She sent the kids for a nap and thought of calling Rafael when her phone buzzed, flashing Kate’s name.

“Kate?”
Kate didn’t sound very calm on the phone, “We all are in trouble!”
Raising her eyebrows, Marissa blinked, “Why? What happened?” she had hardly seen Kate in a panic mode.
“It’s Denzel. They took him to hospital as he got injured and then fainted. Just a few minutes back, we received the order from the higher management that we all were supposed to pack our bags and leave the office. We aren’t allowed to return until further notice.”
Marissa who was settled on the couch, got to her feet, “What! What happened to Denzel?”
“No idea! Gosh! One minute he was asking Peter to bring water and the next minute his arm was bleeding profusely. They had to rush him to the hospital.”
Was that the reason, Rafael had to leave?
“Kate! Do you know which hospital is it?”

Rafael was talking to the doctor about the consequences MSin might have to face when saw a familiar figure walking towards him.
“What is she doing here?” The surgeon who was in touch with Rafael through the entire process was amazed at the way his face transformed.
The man he thought didn’t know how to smile, but now there was a gentle smile gracing his lips. He went ahead and hugged the woman, after kissing her cheek.
“What are you doing here, honey?” the doctor was taken aback as he didn’t know the man even possessed a heart.
“Why didn’t you tell me? How is he?” Marissa held his hand and walked over to the doctor who was silently observing the business tycoon’s face.
“She is my wife,” Rafael had a proud grin when he introduced her to him.
“Hello, Mrs. Sinclair. Thankfully he is safe and out of danger. The poison didn’t go to his vital organs, fortunately,” he was explaining more but Marissa had stopped listening after he said the word, poison. Her body tensed up at the revelation.
She was under the impression that Denzel got injured and then had a heart attack. But no. He was poisoned.
The doctor was still speaking when Marissa looked around and found Dean standing at some distance, talking to a nurse.
“Excuse me,” she excused and strode away, leaving her husband and the doctor alone.
When Dean saw her, he nodded at the nurse and came to her, “How are you? You didn’t come to the office, thankfully.”
Dean hugged her and Marissa turned into a rock. Why is he saying she didn’t turn up thankfully?
“Why?
Dean clicked his tongue and looked behind her, where her husband and the surgeon were still talking in hushed tones.
“Dean! What is it? Don’t hide anything from me.”
Dean sighed and moved closer to her, “Denzel sat on the wrong seat and got injured, Marissa,” Marissa closed her eyes to process the information, “And I must tell you, it wasn’t his seat that he used. It was yours!”
Dean waited to let that sink in. Marissa’s eyes snapped up, “W-What?”
“Yes,” he nodded, “and just between you and me. I saw Delinda doing something near your seat last evening.”
A stunned silence fell over her, as her face went pale with shock.
