Chapter 250: 250- Tears Of Happiness
Marissa was standing close to the tinted glass wall when she saw the gates being opened and a familiar car sped inside.
She chewed her lower lip in excitement because she knew who this might be.
Sophie stepped out of the car and stared up at the residential building of the Palace. Joseph also came out of the driving seat, telling Sophie about something. Her friend muttered maybe some sort of sly remark to Joseph who chuckled softly, with hands in his pockets, watching her taking in the grand architecture.
The kids were quietly standing behind Marissa, all ready to greet Aunt Sophie who didn’t know about their presence in the house.
Marissa opened the door just an inch and heard her name from her friend’s mouth.
“I wish Marissa was here. She is in love with this place!” she then turned to Joseph, “Thanks for the surprise, Joseph. This place is breathtaking!”
It warmed Marissa’s heart that Sophie remembered her obsession with this place. Thankfully due to the tinted glass, Sophie couldn’t notice their presence in the house.
“Oh, but this surprise isn’t enough,” Joseph stated, “I have arranged a detailed tour of the house for you!”
“Oh, Mi God! Really? Oh, Joseph. Can’t we ask Marissa to join us?” Joseph made a face and started shaking his head.
“I’m sorry but I only took permission for both of us. It might not sit well with the owners if there will be an additional individual tagging along.”
Marissa held back her laughter and looked behind where the kids were also trying to control their giggles.
She placed her index finger on her lips and closed back the door. Being the naughtiest, Abi was finding it more difficult to suppress any sounds. Alex was helping her, by placing his palm lightly on her mouth.
The couple had reached near the living room door and Joseph pushed open the door. Marissa was holding her breath and could hear Sophie more clearly now, “Uh oh. Don’t tell me. You booked an indoor visit! I thought it was a detailed outdoor tour. Marissa is definitely going to be jealous.”
She stepped inside with Joseph following her, and gasped, “This place is spectacular,” she spun around to thank Joseph with genuine excitement and then she froze.
Glued to the glass wall, was Marissa standing along with the kids who were hiding behind her.
For a split second, they all stared at each other in shocked silence, and then in unison they all screamed at the top of their lungs.
Sophie ran to the kids and got down on her knees to hug them, but they pulled her to the floor and then fell on top of her.
Thank God, the servants were warned before this meeting otherwise they might have gotten scared of the tsunami.
“What a surprise!” Marissa heard Sophie’s muffled voice, who was pressed beneath those kids.
“Congratulations, Marissa,” Marissa turned back when heard Joseph’s amused voice.
“Thank you, Joseph. Rafael told me how you got it ready for us,” he shrugged at the praise. He was one of that rare lot who didn’t know how to take praise.
Marissa raised her brows when someone tapped her shoulders from behind, “How are you?” she was instantly pulled by Sophie into a tight hug, “Umm. I missed you so much. Flint is going bonkers in their absence,” She gestured towards the kids.
Holding her hand, Marissa motioned towards the sofa so that they could catch up, but Sophie did something odd.
She preferred to go to her left where the kitchen was located. Two chefs were busy making food and cleaning the counters.
“Holy cow! This is huge. Much, much bigger than your commercial one!” she ran her gaze around and Marissa felt strange.
Sophie wasn’t even looking at her. Marissa looked over her shoulder and found Joseph standing at some distance. He placed his index finger on his lips and winked.
Marissa still didn’t understand but went along. She wasn’t aware of Joseph’s plans.
“Come on. Let’s take a look at other rooms,” Sophie held her hand and pulled her to the stairs. She was opening the doors of the bedrooms one by one and was singing praises for the décor and architect.
“I wish we all could afford it! Ha-ha,” she opened another room door that belonged to the kids and gasped, “Holly Molly! Look at this. I want to know the genius behind this design,” she said to herself and closed it back.

And then something bizarre happened. She walked back to where Joseph was standing and hugged him tight.
Poor him stood like a dummy, not ready for this hug.
“Thank you so much. This is the best surprise tour anyone arranged for me. Thank you, Joseph,”
Marissa scrunched her nose. Why was Sophie acting weird?
This time her friend took another flight of stairs and kept opening the doors there. This floor had the home theater, billiard table, study room/library, kids’ gaming room, and an art studio while half of the floor had a swimming pool under the open sun that wasn’t functional.
A retractable canopy was also attached to the wall that could open and close at the flip of a button.
“Just imagine, Marissa. How rich the owner must be,” Marissa nodded and looked at her friend’s face thinking if she was kidding.
But no. She was perfectly serious.
“This visit isn’t enough!” Sophia said inhaling a long sigh, “I need an overnight stay here… but wait,” she raised her index finger when saw Marissa opening her mouth, “one night isn’t enough! Right? How about we plan a weekend here…” she looked secretly at Jospeh who was standing at some distance typing a message, “You, me, kids… umm… Rafael and … him…” her eyes crinkled at the sight of Joseph, “he is such a darling. Who gives such surprises to a lady? Huh?”
She pushed the glasses above her forehead and came back inside with Marissa and Joseph following her.
“Where are the kids? Was that girl their nanny?” When Marissa nodded, she slapped a hand on her back, “That’s good. J…just a thought crossed my mind. We can ask Flint too for that overnight visit. It will be rude to leave him behind.”
By now Marissa was thoroughly bored at Sophie’s gibberish talk. For some reason, her friend was being too chirpy just like Abi.
“Oh, I forgot to see this room. Must be the master bedroom!” before Marissa could stop her, Sophie slammed open the door of her bedroom.
Rafael, who had just stepped out of the bathroom, and thankfully had a towel wrapped around his waist was shocked not expecting the audience. He cocked a brow when he found Sophie stuck in the doorway.
“Shit!” like a typical teenager, Sophie closed back the door with a thud, “What is Rafael doing here?” she whispered with embarrassment. Her face had turned beet red.
“He is treating the room as if it’s his bedroom. Who does that when you’re a guest … a mere visitor in someone else’s house… not an ordinary house but White Palace,” she said through her gritted teeth.
Poor Marissa wasn’t understanding of what was going on. Sophie had been acting strange ever since she stepped inside the palace.
She was a good-mannered girl who never opened anyone’s bedroom doors without knocking or asking for permission.
She wanted to sit down with her friend and talk and share.
“Sophie!” she called her name while following her downstairs. The woman moving ahead was almost racing out as if she had seen a ghost, “What’s gotten into her?” she asked Joseph who was following them in silently.
“Sophie! Stop… please!” Marissa moved ahead of her friend and halted her by blocking her way. They both were breathless.
“Your man took a shower there and… he was changing… like… he owns the place. This isn’t the protocol one follows when you visit … the owner might be offended,” Sophie managed while panting.
Marissa widened her eyes and filled the air in her cheeks, only to blow it out with a weird popping sound.
She cupped Sophie’s cheeks in her palms, “That bedroom DOES belong to Rafael, Sophie,”
“Yeah. That’s what I’m saying. Who takes a shower… sorry… what did you say? Come again?”
“I said,” Marissa leaned towards her ear, “That bedroom was Rafael’s. We aren’t here to visit the palace.”
With a stunned face, Sophie pulled back and looked behind her for confirmation at Joseph who shrugged casually.
“Th…that bedroom… it belongs… to…” Sophie blinked before squeezing her eyes shut, “Shit!” and then she shook her head, “I thought you all were here to visit, and Joseph wanted to surprise me.”
Marissa pursed her lips and rubbed her hand on her friend’s arm, “It’s ok.”
However, Sophie’s eyes snapped to her friend’s face, “Oh, my God! That means…”
Marissa nodded her head with her eyes twinkling in mischief, “Yeah. You got that right!”
“H…Holy Molly Shit! Y-you … you people moved here? Like you will live in the White Palace?” Her eyes followed the squealing sounds where she could see the garden through the glass walls. Abigail was sitting on the swing and Emily was pushing it lightly for her.
“Th-That’s amazing, Mar,” Sophie pulled her into a warm hug, “I’m so happy for you. I didn’t know he bought the property for you all.”
Marissa squeezed her friend to her chest, “Thanks, Soph. He not only bought it but gifted it to me!”
She felt Sophia going rigid against her. She pulled back to look at Marissa’s face, “Wh–”
“This isn’t a White Palace anymore, it’s MSin Palace and it belongs to me, Sophie!” Marissa told her with a soft smile.
She could see tears shining in her friend’s eyes. They were tears of happiness.
