Chapter 254: 254- Familiar Face
Wife?
Did Rafael call this woman his wife?
Then who was Valerie Sinclair? Nina always called Valerie her daughter-in-law.
Were they divorced? Did Rafael marry Marissa after divorcing Valerie?
What was going on?
Geena was fond of Rafael, but she never got attracted to him in that way. Though she had overheard several girls in the office who were ready to drop their panties for him. Still, she couldn’t bring herself to think about him, like Nina wanted her to think.
She was crouched down behind the couch witnessing all the lovey-dovey things between the couple. Making a wild decision to come here without considering any consequences was purely to avoid Nina.
But, Gosh! She made a mistake. She shouldn’t be here in the first place. Holding her breath, she listened intently as Rafael spoke to Marissa.
She had heard about him from Nina, there were rumors that he was a cold-hearted man. Even when she tried to search for him on the internet, all the gossip websites and magazines called him merciless, heartless, and unforgiving.
But the man she was seeing right now, didn’t seem to have a mean bone in him. He was telling Marissa about how precious she was to him, like a cute puppy.
And now she found herself waiting for them to leave the room, cursing her bad luck. Because Marissa had stepped out, leaving Rafael behind.
Rafael might be blind in the presence of that woman but once she had left, his hawk eyes couldn’t miss anything.
“Who is there?” Geena froze. She felt sweat tickling down her back when she heard Rafael’s voice. Her heart was drumming in her chest, deafening her ears.
“Come out!” Rafael commanded icily.
She hesitated a moment before standing up on her shaky legs. Rafael’s sharp eyes were fixed on her when she appeared from behind the couch.
She swallowed hard to wet her dry throat.
“Who are you?” he demanded, using his authoritative voice, “Who allowed you to come inside my office?”
Geena tried to speak but then had to clear her throat when no voice came out of it, “I… I’m… here … for some work…”
This was such a silly excuse. She wasn’t even the employee here.
Rafael’s expression darkened, he narrowed his eyes and took a step forward, “Don’t you dare lie to me!” his voice dropped dangerously low, “Be honest or I’ll call security and have you thrown out of this building.”
The threat sent chills down her spine; her palms felt clammy due to the sweat. Her mind was frantically looking for some excuse.
She raised her eyes and found him looking at her with menace.
“I’m sure that won’t be a pretty sight, so start speaking or be ready for the lifetime insult.”
Time was running short, and Geena could feel her heart racing. There was no excuse. She wasn’t an employee and didn’t have any right to come here.
“Fine! You made your choice,” he turned on his feet to approach the intercom when Geena’s voice made him halt in his way.
“Wait! Please!” he tilted his head to look over his shoulder, “Please don’t call security, Rafael…”
With a frown, Rafael turned around and cocked up a brow, “I’m sorry,” she raised her hand when she realized she made a blunder by using his first name, “I … meant… Mr. Sinclair… I was sent here by Nina… your mother!”
Rafael had never seen the girl or never noticed her. What made this girl accompany his mom here in the first place?

“Next time I see you setting your foot here, I’ll make sure that you face the consequences,” he went to his desk and picked up the intercom receiver, “Dean. Come inside.”
Ignoring her presence, Rafael went to his seat and opened his laptop. When Dean arrived, Rafael didn’t even raise his face.
“Take her out, please. Anyone extra accompanying my mom should stay outside this building. My office isn’t for every Tom, Dick, and Harry.
Dean signaled Geena to move towards the door. She reluctantly turned back and watched the man sitting behind that huge desk with a powerful aura.
“Mr. Rafael. I … I need to talk to you about something…” Dean held her elbow to give the message that she was supposed to leave right now.
“Out!” Rafael didn’t even look at her.
“Please come with me. You are making things worse,” but Geena didn’t know from where she felt this much boldness.
“Mr. Sinclair. Just on chance. I swear I won’t stay here after that…”
Rafael shut his laptop and placed his fist under his chin. Dean’s grip also loosened around her arm.
“Your mom… do you know what she has been teaching me all this time?” when Rafael didn’t speak, she chuckled, “She wants me to seduce you.”
There was bitterness on her face. If Rafael was surprised with the revelation, he didn’t let it show on his face.
However, Dean seemed stunned.
“Sh-she brought me here to … attract you towards me… please don’t take me wrong. I know you love that woman… I mean Marissa….”
“That. Woman. Is. My. Wife!” Rafael spoke between clenched teeth.
Geena nodded with nervous laughter, “I … I know… ok?” she raised her shoulder, “I know now… but your mom is paying too well to a girl who is without a graduate degree. My salary is below the market rate, but I need this job. The orphanage where I grew up, needs money, I can’t ditch them.”
There was an odd silence in the room. Geena wasn’t sure that Rafael was taking her seriously. He was staring at her with a bored expression not even trying to believe her.
Fine! She warned the man, and her duty was finished. Now the rest of it was up to him. She had done her job.
“Bye, Mr. Sinclair,” mumbling the words, she turned to leave the room when she heard Rafael Sinclair’s voice behind her.
“Let Dean know about the name of the orphanage,” she spun around in shock.
“Sorry?” there was a bewildered look in her eyes.
“You heard me, girl. Give orphanage details to Dean and let him know whatever you want to study. MSin will pay your educational expenses.”
After that, he opened his laptop and Geena was standing there in a state of shock.
What happened? He was almost making her dream come true.
“Ok… thanks… thank you, Rafael… I mean Mr. Sinclair.”

Rafael was watching the girl who had turned away to leave the room. He didn’t like it when he found a stranger hiding behind the sofa. Marissa’s life was already in danger and here this girl was eavesdropping shamelessly.
But the way she told him what his mom was planning. It had hurt him.
Why mom’s role is so fishy in my life?
Which mother destroys her son’s life just because she never liked that certain girl?
And now when Geena was admitting all of it, he felt an odd emotion in his heart. Something alien.
The girl reminded him of someone. Her face was too familiar.
But where had he seen her?
