Chapter 256: 256- Lives In Danger

Valerie felt jealousy rising in her chest when she saw Marissa and Dean leaving the café a little urgently.

Dean was asking her about her hasty leave, and she had a cute smile playing on her lips. Valerie’s heart was sinking.

The who*re must be going to Rafael, to open her legs.

She could feel this burning rage and wanted to crush everything in the café.

No! She wasn’t interested in the café owner offering her coffee. She only wanted Rafael to acknowledge her presence. She could feel the behavior of other MSin employees towards her and Nina. All of them could guess that these women didn’t hold any position there.

The employees were also aware, that to stay on the job, they needed to be in Marissa’s good books.

Rafael who used to run after her a long time back, wasn’t even ready to talk to her or meet her. He had asked his mom to talk to him after the event. But for Valerie, he seemed to go cold. Like she was invisible to him.

She didn’t exist for him.

Valerie raised her eyes when found Nina getting to her feet and marching towards the café counter.

“Do you know who she is?” Nina asked the café owner who was busy cleaning the nozzle of the coffee machine, “She is the wife of the president of MSin.”

Nina pointed towards Valerie.

“Do you know who I am?” The bulky owner pointed towards his café logo, “I don’t belong to MSin. This is MY café, and I am not bound to follow your shit. Go and ask for your rights from your husband, lady. Stop pestering me,”

He knew how to tackle the bunch of such bullies.

Wife of the president? Huh! My foot!

He left the counter and started fixing the machine. Nina was fuming when she saw him busy with his stuff.

She tensed up when felt a hand on her shoulder, “Leave them, Nina. No need to fight for me.”

Nina wasn’t fighting for Valerie. She was fighting for herself. She left her business, her fashion show in Sangua city. All her sacrifices were for nothing?

Valerie held her hand and started heading towards the exit.

“Look at this arrogant bustard. How dare he show me this attitude?” Nina kept looking back at the man who was too rude.

“Just forget about these low lives, Nina,” Valerie left her hand and looked around, “tell me what else to do?”

“What do you mean what else to do?” Nina who was putting on her dark shades, stopped midway.

“I’m not a fool, Nina,” Valerie placed her hands on her lips, “We both know that Marissa didn’t get the invitation to the event and still, she will be there.”

Nina clicked her tongue, “So?”

“So…” Valerie snapped, “You know very well who doesn’t need an event pass, Nina. A family member, of course.”

And then it dawned on Nina as well. Rafael issued them the passes but didn’t bother to issue one to Marissa.

“You mean to say…”

Valerie nodded, “That’s exactly what I meant to say, Nina. We need to find Marissa’s family ASAP. We need to stop her from attending the event.”

Covering her eyes with the shades, Nina looked around and muttered under her breath, “Let’s go somewhere private. MSin is not secure for such planning.”

They both were out of the building, back to their hotel room.

“Do you know your Ethan boy is becoming friends with Geena, my assistant?” Nina handed over the beer can to Valerie and took a seat near her bed.

Valerie nodded absentmindedly.

Right now, Ethan wasn’t the one on her mind.

“What are you thinking?” Nina closed her eyes when felt the beer making a slight tingling in her throat.

“I’m thinking about Marissa’s family,” Valerie said taking a swig from her can, “Why Marissa is attending the event so freely? Where is her family in all this?”

“Family?” Nina was still stuck on the word.

“Of course? Have you forgotten what Delinda told me? She saw those little girls in the Mart. Do you know the meaning of this?” Valerie folded her legs under her and placed the can on the nightstand, “This means that she moved on. When she got here, she got into a relationship with someone… And had his kids. Where is her husband … or boyfriend… or this man…” her hands were gesturing wildly to emphasize each point.

“W… what if she is divorced?” Nina had to accept that Valerie had a point.

“Even If she is divorced, this man must be somewhere. Why not find him and ask for his help?”

Nina nodded and started snapping her fingers, “Her friend… the gynecologist… what was her name?”

“Sophia?”

“Yeah. Dr. Sophia. She might tell us something. This doctor was on my radar when Marissa used to visit her clinic for PCOS treatment. Only she is the one who knows the truth but doesn’t have any proof against us.”

“That’s good. She might tell us the address and the whereabouts of Marissa’s husband,” Valerie said thoughtfully, her fingers drumming her knee.

Nina asked Valerie who was busy staring at a spot on the bed, “What would you tell her husband?”

When Valerie didn’t respond, Nina called her name loudly, “Valerie!”

“Hmm?” Valerie seemed to wake up from her daydreaming.

“What would you do with the info? What’s her husband got to do with all of this.”

Valerie at last eyed Nina and smirked, “Well! He should know his spouse is cheating. The mom of his kids is sleeping around… with elite men.”

“And what if he doesn’t help us?”

“Hmm,” Valerie thought for a moment until a sinister smile made its way to her lips, “Marissa can be anything but not heartless. We don’t know anything about her husband, but we know she is a mom. And being a perfect mom, she would never go against us.”

“Ok!” Nina started bobbing her head, “What would those kids do?”

Valerie’s laughter had a sarcastic bite in it as if Nina was a silly ape, “As a mom, Marissa would do anything if her kids’ lives were in danger,” Valerie then turned her head slowly to look at Nina’s face,

“Marissa needs to stop, Nina. If she won’t then she might lose her daughters.”
