Chapter 264: 264- Pathetic Marissa!

Rafael looked down at the black head placed on his na*ed chest. Marissa was sleeping like a baby, sprawled all over him.

Why do I feel that you can’t let me go even in your sleep, little Greene? He asked her the question silently. Last night they slept late because she wanted to make slow love to him.

He squeezed her into his body and kissed her head with a smile. Today was the day he was planning to announce to the world that she was his wife, and he was her husband. They both belonged to each other, and they had beautiful kids together.

Right after the event he was preparing to propose her and express his love to her.

He had asked Dean to make all the necessary arrangements and Sophie was supposed to stay with the kids.

He needed to spend some alone time with her.

Looking down, he sighed when she stirred a little.

“Hey!” she drawled in a sleepy voice and raised her face, “What time is it?” she was yawning loudly after asking that and placed her cheek against his chest.

But then he felt her body go rigid, “Oh, shit! Rafael!”

She jumped off him and sat on the edge of the bed, “It’s the event day. Tonight…”

“Yeah. Tonight!” holding her, he yanked her over him and gave a hard kiss on her mouth, “You don’t need to worry about anything, love. Anyone who tries to mess with you will be kicked out of the event. No matter how important that person is.”

Even your mom?

She didn’t say it aloud but at that instant, Marissa decided to be brave, “I need to tell you something after the event.”

For some reason, his face lit up, “I also want to tell you something after the event.”

A broad grin broke on her lips, and she crawled ahead to reach his mouth and kissed it. His hand moved at the back of her neck pressing her face to him. When she broke the kiss, they both were still panting.

“I need to make love to you!” he whispered, and she giggled.

“What? Again?”

“No matter how many times we do it. I can never get bored of you, Marissa,” it was not what he said but how he said it.

“Then what are you waiting for, Mr. Rafael Sinclair? Make me beg and make me scream for it,”

And that was all the encouragement Rafael needed.

Kate entered the White Palace, the venue for the office event. Soon the guests would be flooding in, and everyone would know who Kate was.

She had planned to grab the opportunity to advertise her work, as tonight, the media was also expected to be there.

She had reached earlier and wanted to reach her table with all the possible stuff that was needed tonight.

She had already prepared half-cooked dishes and now it would be delivered to her tonight where she could start the live cooking.

She jerked a little when a waiter brought some wine for her.

She finished it with a huge chug but didn’t make the mistake of wiping off her face with the back of her hand. Her base and lip color were precious, and she looked stunning tonight.

After lightly dabbing her mouth, she passed the glass to another passing waiter and strolled forward.

Oh! I have a good feeling about this.

Her face broke into a smile when she spotted Shang Chi walking to her with three men who must be his assistants for today.

Kate waved excitedly and ran towards him.

Delinda got out of the cab and straightened the wrinkles of her dress after paying the fare to the cab driver.

Tonight, everything will change for good.

She couldn’t wait to go inside and face the world. The presence of media could give her business its due boost.

After the event, the world would know who Delinda was and how good her food tasted.

After showing her card at the entrance, she went inside and found Shang Chi and Kate already there, busy with the arrangements of their tables. Delinda strolled over to meet them.

“I think I’m a bit late,” she said sheepishly after hugging Shang Chi and Kate.

“Oh, rubbish,” Shang Chi hooked his arm through hers and asked a nearby waiter to bring Delinda some juice, “You’re right on time.”

Holding the glass Delinda glanced at all the arrangements and that was when she realized something was missing.

“You look panicked, Delinda,” Kate said looking at her face carefully. Since Denzel’s accident, she had been acting weird but tonight she looked relaxed and happy, “Drink this juice, Del. It might help you in calming your nerves.”

But Delinda didn’t seem to listen to her. Her eyes were frantically scanning the area, looking for something.

Shang Chi, who was also observing her closely, asked her, “Del. You alright?”

Del made wild gestures with her hands, “M-my table… it was supposed to be here.”

She pointed in one direction.

With frowns on their faces, Kate and Shang Chi looked in that direction but there was nothing. Instead, there was a round table for the guests with chairs around it.

Shang Chi stopped a suited man who was roaming around carrying a walkie-talkie.

“Sir. Can you please check her name in your list? She is a chef, but her table is missing from there.”

The man gave Delinda a good look before opening his tablet and checking something.

“Chef? Your name is there as a guest but… there is no information about her being a chef. There are only two names under the chef column. Kate and Shang Chi.”

He then looked up and Kate and Shang-chi both hurriedly showed him their job cards.

“There is no other chef except you two!” he said with a tight smile and walked away leaving behind a confused Delinda.

“H-how is it possible!” she asked more to herself and then saw Dean talking to a worker. Without waiting for Shang-chi and Kate, she went to him, “Dean. My table…”

“Yeah. Marissa asked me not to let you serve the guests. You can stay here as a guest if you want. But your services aren’t needed tonight.”

Delinda thought she heard him wrong. How could Marissa…

Oh, God!

What kind of a woman was she!

She made her table removed from the event just to get even with her.

Marissa just proved what a sorry excuse of a woman she was! How pathetic!
