Chapter 269: 269- The Event (IV)

Valerie wasn’t paying attention to Nina. Nor she was paying attention to the boy walking ahead. She felt as if she might fall when she saw who was following the little girls.

Wearing a classy black dress, her arm hooked through Rafael’s, Marissa was walking with a proud grin on her face.

The little girls were wearing exactly the same dresses as their mom except they had full sleeves, and Marissa’s dress was sleeveless.

The clapping and cheering were deafening, and she was waving at the guests with a warm smile. Rafael was also grinning from ear to ear.

Valerie felt her face heating up when she saw Marissa saying something in Rafael’s ear. He also bent his head to listen to her wholeheartedly and then kissed her cheek.

Sophia slowly turned her head and found Nina and Valerie standing there like two pieces of rock, not able to move.

You deserve this, bitches!

She wished she could push them out of this house that belonged to her friend. Their facial expressions were priceless.

Seeing her friend, happily walking to the stage was such a fulfilling sight.

Alex climbed the stage and then helped Ariel by reaching out to her. Rafael picked up Abi and climbed the stairs with one arm around Marissa’s waist.

Once they reached the stage, Rafael put down Abi and raised his hand to greet all the guests.

The guests had seen Mr. Rafael Sinclair’s family for the first time. It seemed he always kept them hidden from the media.

“Before I hand over this mic to Mr. Sinclair, I want to announce that tonight marks the fifth birthday of his triplet babies.”

There were different reactions from the audience.

“Aww. They’re so cute.”

“I never knew, Mr. Sinclair had a beautiful family,”

“Mr. Sinclair is so lucky. Look at his wife. The way she is carrying herself is just phenomenal.”

Valerie’s face was getting red with each passing minute. Delinda turned to her and held her arm gently, “Mrs. Sin… I mean… Ms. Valerie… you aren’t…” There were questions in Delinda’s eyes.

This was the first time she had called Valerie by her first name.

“Just shut up!” Valerie snarled and eyed Nina, “You knew it! Right? They were meeting secretly, and you helped them. Now no one can keep him safe from the cheating charges. I’ll sue him.”

Before Nina could react, she started crying. Nobody was paying her any heed, except Delinda and Nina.

And yes. Sophie too.

Valerie saw the faces of all the guests around her and she wished she had hired someone to blow the place up.

Now she knew. It was Marissa who kicked her out of the White Palace… The MSin Palace.

Oh, what the actual fu*ck!

She started rubbing her chest and squeezed her eyes. Her face was dangerously red now.

“Valerie!” Nina reached to her in a minute, “Control yourself. Will you?” she observed her face carefully, “Are you alright?”

“I … I think…” Valerie was speaking with difficulty now, her breaths labored, “I think … I’m… getting a heart attack, Nina. When you meet your son, just… ah…” she squeezed her chest, “When you meet your son, tell him that I only loved him.”

Sophia was at once by her side, looking at her in sympathy, “Valerie!” she whispered.

Valerie raised her pain-filled eyes to her.

“The heart, Valerie. It’s usually on the left,”

A scowl appeared across Val’s face, “Hmm? What?”

“Your heart,” Sophia batted her lashes quite dramatically, “It’s usually in the left but you are squeezing the right side of your chest. How can someone be that dumb!”

She raised a brow when heard stifling laughter behind her. Nina’s hand was clamped on her mouth and that Delinda woman who seemed too serious just a few moments back also had a small smile playing on her lips.

Valerie picked up her purse and stomped her foot, “I’ll kill, all of you. And those kids?” she clenched her fist tightly when heard Nina hissing at her.

“They are my grandkids, Valerie. So fuc*k off! Either Marissa and Rafael are married or not. Those kids are mine. You harm them and I’ll make sure that your ass never makes it out of jail.”

Sophia curved down her lips.

Whoa! NEW drama! Dear grand mommy suddenly develops love for her grandkids. How cute!

Standing beside Rafael, Marissa was enjoying the view. She saw the ashen white face of Nina and the beetroot face of Valerie.

The way she started rubbing her chest, Marissa knew what she was doing. She hadn’t changed a bit.

She was still the meanest and the most selfish person on earth.

After their grand entry, Dean was so excitedly introducing the family that for a moment Marissa thought he was a part of her family.

At last, when he handed over the mic to Rafael, he glared at him.

“Sorry, boss!” Dean said with a sheepish grin, “I think I got carried away.”

“The hell you did!” Rafael uttered and brought the mic closer, “This is my family!” his voice boomed through the venue.

No hanky panky!

No excuses!

Just a simple announcement.

What if Valerie comes up with a lawsuit? Just like that lawyer predicted?

“My wife Marissa owns this palace and everything that is in my name is hers. You all are requested to treat her with the same respect that you pay me.”

He then looked down at the three small heads, standing in front of him, “My kids. These are the ones who will take care of MSin business,” there was a cocky grin by the end of the statement, “unless we plan to bring another one into the family.”

There were chuckles from the crowd and Marissa wanted to slap his arm.

This was not at all difficult. She was getting nervous for nothing.

Nobody batted an eye at the announcement. Everyone was happy to know that Rafael Sinclair had a beautiful family. None of them tried to question Valerie’s position in his life.

Seeing Valerie fleeing from the event was so satisfying.

Good decision, Valerie. That’s very smart of you. Because this is my home, and I want trash outside. Not anywhere close to my family.

Her eyes met Nina’s who had unshed tears that gleamed. And then Marissa was taken aback when she decoded what was reflected there.
