Chapter 278: 278- Media
Marissa stood rooted to the spot when Nina approached her kids with an uncertain smile. All fresh after her shower and in a new pair of clothes, Marissa could see how her body was shivering, but she thought not to mention it.
Nina kneeled slowly and extended her hand to shake it with Abi, “Hello, little one,” she said softly trying to control her quivering lips.
With a smile, Abi was quick to hold her hand and shake it vigorously making Nina and Marissa chuckle.
Nina then turned to Ariel and was taken aback by her face, “She is…” she twisted her neck a little to look over her shoulder, “she is just like…”
“Yeah. I know,” Marissa nodded, agreeing with her. She was aware of who Nina was referring to. But right now, she wasn’t in the mood to tell her kids about her manipulative sister.
Nina at last eyed Alex and Marissa could see how her eyes were wide while observing his face, “Perfect replica of your father!”
She remarked in a whisper and offered her hand for a handshake, but Alex didn’t take it.
He raised his eyes to his mom with a shrug, “If she is Dad’s mom why are we meeting her now? Where was she up till now? And why did you let her stay outside our house?”
Marissa was caught off guard by the question. She surely underestimated her son when she allowed Nina to meet them.
“It’s not your mom’s fault, darling,” Nina cooed, shooting a glance at Marissa, “Your mom DID ask me to come inside. It was MY stubbornness… and I’m sorry for that, love.”
Marissa blinked in surprise. Was Nina supporting her? That too in front of her kids? She was taking the blame on herself.
“Why were you stubborn?” Alex asked her and Nina could see his father’s wisdom in his eyes.
“That’s because I wanted you all to live at my place with… without realizing that it’s too small for so many people,” Right now this was the only excuse, she could come up with.
Alex who was observing the elderly lady’s face, nodded at last, in satisfaction, and held Nina’s hand.
“Good to see you, Ms. …” The confusion was back in his eyes, but Nina smiled and cupped his cheek, “Grandma. I’m your grandma.”
She turned to face the girls who were fluttering their eyelids in sheer innocence.
Nina gave the kids a tightlipped smile and spread her arms, “Can I get a hug, darlings?”
The kids stood there with hesitation evident in their eyes. As they watched Marissa, she nodded with a soft encouraging smile.
Abi was the one who took the first step towards Nina and placed her small arms around her neck. Ariel was the next in line and then Alex too followed her. They all hugged Nina who squeezed them to her and Marissa could see how she was crying and laughing at the same time.
Rafael! Where are you? Was it part of your plan to let the kids befriend their grandma?
“What should we call you?” Ariel asked Nina and started wiping her wet cheeks with her small hands, “Isn’t Grandma old-fashioned?”
Nina who was already stunned by the touch of those tiny hands tried to control her tears, “What would you like to call me, love?” she asked them softly.
“How about granny?” Abi asked excitedly, trying to snap her small fingers and failed miserably.
Nina chuckled and nodded her head wildly, “That sounds nice. If you like granny, then let’s keep it granny.”
Marissa saw Alex pulling back from the hug, “But I would call you, Nina. Will that be, ok?” Nina furrowed her eyes and Marissa saw an odd expression crossing her face.
“Well!” she muttered, “you have taken everything from your dad, little one,” She got up after kissing the kids’ heads.

“The police chief has assured me that they will be able to give positive news about Rafael in the next twenty-four hours,” Joseph told Marissa wiping his mouth with the napkin.
They all were having dinner and were residing in the MSin Palace to stay near her. Dean, Sophie, and Joseph were using the guest rooms. Dean and Joseph were leaving the house only for a few hours to take care of the office but now that was becoming a burden.

The duo could easily look after the Kanderton office, but the other offices across the globe needed some serious decision making.
“Where is Nina?” Joseph asked Marissa because ever since Sophia told him that Nina met the kids this noon, he was expecting her to be there at the dinner table.
“She had her dinner with kids,” Sophie told him with a sigh, “she seems too obsessed with them.”
At least Nina’s presence made the kids question less about their dad temporarily. Nina was keeping their minds occupied with her stories.
Marissa had added a fourth bed in the room for Georgie too. The kid needed to continue his schooling from next week. The good thing was Nina was including him in all their activities.
“I never knew she was so fond of kids,” Joseph said, accepting the steaming napkin from the servant for wiping his hands.
“Marissa,” Dean looked at her with a hesitant smile, “Why don’t you start coming to the office?”
“I can’t,” she threw her hands up in the air, “I need to find Rafael first. And no. Taking care of an event team was something else, but I know nothing about this business thingy.”
“There has to be someone to lead the Msin people, Mar,” Sophie tilted her head to look at her friend who couldn’t seem to take her mind off her husband, even for a minute.
They all almost bolted when heard Nina behind them, “I have given them warm milk and now they are sleeping peacefully in bed.”
She was holding the tray with four empty glasses of milk and placed it on the counter. Marissa had gone rigid with shock.
The kids were never fond of milk and always made her run after them to drink it. Emily also struggled a lot to make them drink it.
But here Nina did the job within a few minutes.
“What is she? A magician?” Sophie whispered, looking at Nina who was going back to the kids’ room.
“Nina. Why don’t you go back to the room assigned to you?” Marissa asked her. Nina smiled sheepishly.
“Sorry, Marissa. I thought that maybe there wasn’t room for me so…”
“The bathroom where you took your shower, that’s your room, Nina. Why would you think I wouldn’t assign you a room when I am doing the same for my friends?” she gestured with a slight smile as if the answer was obvious.
Nina nodded and then without a word turned to head to her room.
“She is a changed person,” Dean mumbled. He was about to say more when he received a call.
“Hmm!”
“What?”
“How come…” All eyes were on him. He disconnected the call and looked at all the people sitting there.
“Rafael’s disappearance is known now. The media has picked up the news and now it’s all over the channels.”
Marissa closed her eyes. She didn’t have any problem with the media but her kids. Tomorrow they would come to know that their father was missing, in the most brutal way.
“Marissa!” Sophie pulled her into a side hug, “Don’t worry about media. We should take Nina’s help to break it to the kids.”
