Chapter 285: 285- Sh*it Out Of My House!
Marissa buttoned up her blouse and sat on the edge of the bed. The butler just informed her that all the guests had arrived in the library and now everyone was waiting for the lawyer impatiently.
Marissa nodded with a polite smile and kept sitting there like a statue. Today she didn’t even look in the mirror to check if she looked great or not.
No matter what you wear, you always look se*xy!
The same voice spoke in her head and today Marissa decided to ignore it. Lately, she had been keeping herself so busy, but still, this voice used to be there in her head.
“Help me get to you!” she told him silently, “Take me there. Once our kids are grown up, I want to join you. This world after you isn’t the same, Rafael.”
She chewed her upper lip, trying to keep it from shaking.
The kids just turned five. After thirteen years, they will turn eighteen. Mature enough to take care of themselves.
Once they move out, you make arrangements for me to join you so that we can live together. Again!
She smiled softly and got up, at last.
“Ready?” Sophie’s head appeared in the doorway, “oh, look at you. Looking gorgeous.”
She closed the door softly behind her.
“Has everyone arrived?” she asked Sophie without knowing who was invited. As Nina took the responsibility of inviting everyone.
“Yeah. They all are there but tell me this. Who invited Valerie?”
With a scowl on her face, Marissa eyed Sophie who didn’t look happy, “Valerie is there?”
She shook her head when Sophie nodded, “I asked Nina for this favor of calling everyone. She must have invited Valerie too.”
“Strange!” Sophia curved down her lips, “she should have informed you at least.”
Marissa shrugged and then started playing with the watch she was wearing. Sophia was taken aback when she looked at it carefully.
It was a gent’s watch. Marissa was wearing Rafael’s wristwatch. She was brushing her finger on it, absentmindedly.
Sophie shifted her focus away from her when her eyes landed on the wrapped picture hanging on the wall.
“When are you going to take off its clothes?” Sophie asked, scrunching her nose and Marissa laughed at the dig.
“Shut up! And no. I’m never taking off its clothes.”
“Don’t you want to see what’s inside it?”
Marissa shook her head with a dismissive wave, “Not interested anymore.”
He promised me, he would unwrap it on our next anniversary. If he didn’t bother to stay back and keep his word, I’m not interested in seeing what’s inside it. Maybe someday our kids can do it but for the time being, I’m not interested.
They both jumped at the knock. The door opened slightly, and Emily burst in from outside, “Mrs. Sinclair. The lawyer has arrived.”
Marissa immediately got to her feet, “Emily. Stay alert around kids. No one should go to the library.”
“Got it, ma’am. Please don’t worry.”
Marissa nodded and then turned to Sophie, “Aren’t you coming?”
Sophie chuckled nervously, “I think it’s a family thing and it should stay in the family.”

“Rubbish!” Marissa held her wrist, “You’re accompanying me because you’re MY family!”
Without giving Sophie enough time to absorb this, Marissa almost dragged her friend outside.
“Oui. Marissa!”
But Marissa was in no mood to listen to her protest.

Valerie was sitting in her seat, shaking her leg in anxiety. The library where they were sitting, was a giant room with glass showcases wall to wall. Like a proper library, there were sections for every subject.
One more time, she felt jealousy surging through her.
“It’s good that you have died,” she talked to Rafael’s photo frame on the wall, “All the insults you hauled over to me, you did deserve death in such a brutal way. And it’s good that Delinda could be used as a scapegoat,” She thought with a mean smirk.
The man who rejected her and preferred her sister over her, didn’t have a right to stay alive.
The lawyer was an old man and was carrying a file with him. He was waiting patiently for Marissa to arrive.
Urgh! Marissa has gotten rich for the first time and that’s the reason the bitch is taking time in getting ready.
Silly girl!

Geena could see how Nina kept herself busy by reading a fashion magazine. She was an impatient woman and always demanded VIP treatment.
But the way she was sitting there patiently, Geena was having a hard time digesting it. Grandkids might bring lots of changes, but they can’t change the nature of a person.
Nina knew how to have he own ways. Still, she preferred to stay here in MSin Palace and chose Marissa this time.
No! There was something wrong. There was something extremely wrong here.
Geena wanted to find out.
She took out her phone and was about to type a message to Ethan when his text appeared on the screen, “Is everything well there?”
She typed back, “On the surface, yes. But deep inside, no. We need to find out about this, Ethan. I think Marissa and her kids are not safe here.”
“Hmm. Ok. We’ll discuss it once you come back.”
She placed the phone back in her purse and then saw everyone standing up when the door opened, and Marissa Sinclair stepped inside.
As always there was one word that came to Geena’s mind whenever she met Marissa.
Classy!
She might not be born rich, but she knew how to carry herself. Geena might be the only one in the room who could see why Rafael was head over heels for her.
“What is she doing here?” Valerie gestured to Sophie who got seated right next to Marissa, “She isn’t even related to Rafael.”
Here the drama starts again. Typical Valerie! Geena thought.
“You are here because Nina invited you,” Marissa told her, looking right into her eyes, “We both know you are also not related to Rafael. Still, no one is saying anything to you.”
Valerie opened her mouth to snap at her, but Marissa didn’t let her, “I’m already having a headache, miss, so either sit here quietly or take your shit out of my house!”
