Chapter 314: 314- Weekend In Ashoa
Talia and Mala were having tea at the small wooden table, Alex made for them. It wasn’t perfect but they all appreciated his efforts.
Right now, he was busy, crouched near the stove, adjusting its burner.
“Alexander. Stop wasting your time on that gunk,” Their father joined them at the table. Mala nudged her elbow into Talia’s shoulder when found her staring at Alex.
They all celebrated after they learned that his name was Alexander. According to Talia, the name carried royalty, and he definitely belonged to a royal background.
“I still think the market is best for the fish in the morning, Father,” Mala suggested before fetching her father’s cup from the kitchen.
Their father took a sip from the clay cup, Mala had just brought him, “You’re right. The fish will be fresh in the early hours.”
Fresh fish was usually available in the market outside the village. John was planning to buy it the next morning, so he needed to leave home early.
Their fish discussion broke when Alexander spoke from the kitchen, glancing up from the stove with a faint smile, “Why there is no TV in the village? Don’t you get bored of each other?”
Mala tried to smile. Electricity problems had discouraged many from buying electronic appliances. However, according to the latest news, the government was getting serious about working on their basic necessities.
When Alexander didn’t get a response, he stopped working and regarded their faces, “I was thinking … I wish I could gift you all a nice fifty-five inch one.”
He got back to his job, while the room went silent for a moment. Mala exchanged a quick glance with Talia and then leaned closer to their father.
“Doesn’t he seem from an upper middle class? Or maybe upper class?” her eyes darted to the man who was engrossed in his work.
Talia placed her elbows to bend ahead, “He looks too polished for this place. I’d bet, he’s got a corporate sector job or something.”
John remained still deep in his thought before shrugging slightly, “How about I go to the nearest city and talk to someone? We can get his picture published in a newspaper. His family needs to know he is alive. They must be looking for him.”
“Or they must have thought he has died,” Mala pointed out and her father agreed.
“Wait, father!” Talia started shaking her head, “You can’t do that. Have you forgotten, he was stabbed in the stomach? Those murderers might get alert, or they might come back to kill him.”
John’s face turned pale. They had almost forgotten about that aspect.
“He has enemies,” his father remarked weighing his daughter’s words, “but he can’t stay here forever, he needs to be with his family.”
Talia thought her heart was sinking. But her father was right. This man didn’t belong here. He was a clear mismatch.
She looked at him, he was now placing the stove on the countertop. There was some clanking sound when he hit the hammer a few times. He tightened the last bolt on the stove and stepped back, “All fixed!” he said, wiping his hands on the rag, flashing them a friendly smile.
A smile to die for. Talia thought with a silly drool on her face. However, she needed to come out of her Lala land when she heard Mala.
“You need to do it smartly, father,” Mala gave Alexander a nod when found him looking at her, “Maybe we should talk to some influential personality to keep him safe.”
John nodded and got up from the chair. He needed to talk to some prominent person from the neighboring village and then go to the city. Alexander was all healthy now and he could recover from memory loss at his place with his family. It would do him better.

“You are in a tough spot,” Ethan remarked glancing out the window, tapping his fingers lightly on the steering wheel.
They were sitting in the car sharing a quick snack while parked. He leaned back and reached into his bag of fries, popping one into his mouth before he casually remarked, “So Marissa Sinclair who was financing your…”
Geena interrupted him, “Is!”
“Sorry? What?”
“Is! She is still financing it!” she said naughtily.

“Ok,” he shrugged, “So Marissa Sinclair who IS financing your studies has almost cut ties with you and now Nina is blaming you and Valerie for Rafael’s murder, you’re blaming Nina…”
“Marissa also blames Valerie for it,” she again disrupted his sentence.
“Ok,” Ethan nodded and offered her the bag of French fries which she declined, “So, Nina is blaming you and Valerie, you are blaming Nina, and Marissa is blaming Valerie anddd” he prolonged the word ‘and’, “and Valerie is blaming it on Nina. Interesting! Ha-ha… Phew…”
Geena glared at him, “Is this a joke to you? Enjoying it? Huh?”
“Whoa, no!” he threw up his hands in the air, “You seem tired. Ok! You are burned out. This… this maddening burden of studies then the Sinclair politics where you are stuck… and then…”
She twisted her body in the passenger seat and slapped his arm, “Take me far away!”
Her words not only silenced him but also made him stunned, “Wait. What?”
“Yeah. Please. Take me far away from all this shit. Weekend has already started so how about we plan to go away from this city’s chaos, this exam shit, and Sinclair madness?” She asked him, wiggling her brows and making him smirk.
“A weekend getaway? What do you have in mind?”
“Somewhere we don’t have phone signals,” she fluttered her lashes, “and are totally cut off from the outside world.”
“Hmm,” he thought for a moment and then snapped his fingers with an excited face, “How about Ashoa Village?”
“Ashoa?”
“Yes. Near the Ashoa lake. It will be a perfect getaway. Be ready by five in the morning, I’ll pick you up from the dormitory.”
Nodding her head, Geena raised her palm for a high five, “Deal!”
He slapped it lightly, “Deal!”
“Yes!” Geena squealed. She would have only one day, and she was planning to utilize it in the best way possible.
She was sure, she would enjoy her time at Ashoa.
Poor her! Only if she knew…
