Chapter 320: 320- Is It Will Reading Ceremony?
Valerie was having the time of her life in a discotheque when she felt her phone vibrating in her shorts pocket.
This place didn’t have much crowd right now as people preferred to come here at night. Rare breed liked coming here in the daytime.
She moved her eyes where Sarah was busy dancing with a handsome stranger. A young boy who seemed very interested in Valerie brought his face closer, “Why have you stopped dancing?” He asked at the top of his lungs due to the loud music.
Valerie raised her finger to silence him and showed him, her phone, “Important call!”
She made a beeline for the exit and then opened her phone. It had stopped ringing, and she wanted to call him back.
Ethan had called her after such a long time. She quickly received it when it started ringing again, “Ethan?”
“Hey, Val. How are you?” It was of no use bringing back the past.
“I’m good,” and out of jail without your help, “You tell me. What’s up!”
“Can you reach Marissa’s place? Now!”
“Now?” She tilted her head to look at her only friend who was busy dancing, “Why? There is nothing there for me. Why should I go there?”
Ethan seemed to be thinking hard. Before Valerie could say anything, he spoke again, “There is another will from Rafael, and I’ve heard it, has got your name too.”
Valerie thought her heart would fall in the pit of her stomach.
Another will? My name?
“Ethan… I… how do you know?” her heart was now racing in her chest.
No more wandering on the roads. No more stays in those dinky apartments. No more addicted boys who wanted to pay her for her bed services.
“Just try to reach there within two hours,” before she could ask him more, the call was disconnected.
She stared at the phone and sighed.
So, Mr. Rafael Sinclair! You did give me something. I’m not empty-handed. Huh. Nina and Marissa will be on fire this time. Thanks, Ethan. Thank you so much!
She wanted to scream in excitement. She hurriedly sent a message to Sarah and then took a cab to reach Marissa’s place.
This place was far away from the city and this time she didn’t want to be late to get her share.

“What happened?” Ethan asked Geena while sipping his coffee. Geena was away making the calls, and Rafael was stubbornly sitting in the car.
He didn’t want to come out of the car, nor he was interested in any bathroom visit or coffee. Initially, he was also stopping Geena from getting out of the car, but Geena explained to him politely how badly she needed to visit the bathroom.
“I have asked Sophie to get the kids out of there. After their mom, she is closest to the kids so I think I can trust her on this,” she ordered a coffee from the roadside vendor.
“Have you talked to Valerie?” Geena asked him, “She must be over the moon after hearing about Rafael,” she made the wild guess while paying the man for her coffee cup.
“I didn’t tell her about him. In her excitement, she can blow things out of proportion,” Geena tucked her hair behind her ear and eyed Ethan.
“This is serious. You should have informed her. For her, nothing carries value if it’s not about money or Rafael.”
Ethan gave her a side smirk, “I have stayed with her long enough to know about her. That’s why, I asked her to be there if she wants a cut from Rafael’s property,” he finished with a wink.
Geena started chewing the corner of her lips and Ethan sensed something off, deep inside.

“You… bit your lip…” he said in a low whisper pointing towards her mouth, “he… Rafael was also doing it a few minutes back.”
Geena didn’t understand and made a face, “Maybe we are related. We might be cousins or siblings who got separated in childhood. Come on, Ethan. Half of the population across the globe chew their lips because they are starving and have nothing to eat.”
She walked away to talk to Rafael who was still sitting there like a grumpy old man.
“Where have you got yourself stuck?” Ethan asked himself, “First Valerie was related to him and now she is. Half the ladies of the globe seem to be crazy about him.”
Shaking his head he went to another vendor and asked him about a pack of cigarettes.

“Why we have been called here?” Nina asked Sophie in irritation. She had gotten suicidal when she got the missed calls from Marissa because Abi was taken to the hospital. She made it a point never to switch off her phone or move it to vibration mode.
But that didn’t mean someone had to stop her from going out. She was not a teenager who was expected to be grounded.
This was her life, and she wanted to enjoy it.
“Bye, granny!” the kids waved at her and the deep scowl on her face suddenly turned into a big grin when she saw them all ready.
However, she couldn’t understand why Flint was suddenly interested in having a movie day with the kids.
“Come here!” she kneeled to hug each of them. Marissa came out of the kids’ room with a smile, she was carrying their small bag packs.
“Behave yourselves and be good to Flint,” she gave them the last-minute mommy warning, “And Abi…” she gave her a stern look.
“I know, Mommy. No more jumping.”
Marissa handed over the fourth bag to Georgie, “Keep an eye on her,” she whispered to him with a wink and the boy nodded with a subtle smile.
She had taken Dean’s help to look for his father. An investigator was hired to locate the man. This was the child’s right and Marissa didn’t want to strip him of it.
No matter what the differences between Delinda and her ex were, she wanted to give a chance to arrange a meet-up between Georgie and his father.
Once the kids left with the guard and driver, Marissa turned to Sophie who was busy on the phone and regarded her with her hand on her hips, “What is going on, Sophie?”
“What?” Sophie peeled her eyes off the phone and asked with that innocent look, but Marissa knew her better.
“This emergency,” she sat beside her on the couch, “Nina was leaving to meet her friends, and you made her stay here. Out of nowhere, you planned a movie day for the kids. I appreciate your efforts. But what is exactly going on? Care to explain?”
Sophie who was looking at her, tried to smile and raised her hand in front of her eyes, “My nail.”
“Sorry?”
“My nail, Marissa. It’s chipped,” she turned to look for a maid, “I need a nail filer.”
Marissa rolled her eyes; she was aware that her friend was up to something. But only Marissa had been part of this wild adventure.
Now including Nina in that adventure wasn’t sitting well with her.
“Don’t look at me like this!” Sophie raised her hands and looked at Nina who was glaring at her.
“Anyone wants a sandwich?” Joseph, who was inside the kitchen, came to stand near the counter.
“Joseph, you tell me. Are you two hiding something?” Marissa got up and headed to Joseph, “Are you people breaking up?”
“NO!” they both exclaimed, their voices echoing through the room as Sophia sprang to her feet.
Marissa looked at both of them in confusion, “Then are you two pregnant?”
“NO!” their faces had that bewildered look. Nina also had that curiosity on her face.
“And you need to explain why I am here,” Nina clapped to get their attention, “You aren’t even my friend then why do I have to stay like this? I’m getting late,” she said glancing at her watch.
Poor Sophia and Joseph looked at each other, comminuted through their eyes. Marissa knew that language.
She and Rafael used to do it a lot. The best ones were the secret winks he used to give her in the meeting room.
Right now, Sophie was acting oddly.
“Soph!” she glared at her friend and was about to snap at her when the guard arrived in the living room,
“Mrs. Sinclair. There is a lady outside and she wants to come inside. She calls herself Mrs. Sinclair’s sister, Valerie Aaron.”
Marissa and Nina stood up in surprise.
“Don’t let her enter here,” Nina said with a face as if she could start crying any minute. Delinda was just a cover, and she was sure Valerie killed Rafael.
Marissa spun around and looked into Sophie’s eyes, “You called Valerie too?”
Sophie shook her head and shrugged, “N-No. Why would I?”
“Then why is she here?” Marissa muttered to herself with a frown.
Sophie gave that look to Joseph… that said it must be Geena’s doing.
“Ok! Call her in!” she asked the guard and Nina picked up her clutch.
“Fine, Marissa. I’m leaving!” she fixed her hair and took the first step to exit the room, but Sophie was quick to get to her.
“Please, Nina. Valerie will leave soon. She doesn’t live here.”
“Yeah,” Joseph jumped in for her support, “Just let her stay here for a little while.”
Nina tossed away her clutch and looked straight into Joseph’s eyes, “Really?” She snarled, “Mr. Joseph. When you have your kid, I’ll ask you if you will ever allow its murderer to step into your house.” Nina’s eyes didn’t have tears but the hatred on her face and in her words had startled everyone in the room.
The example was so outrageous that it sent Joseph in shock.
“Stop shitting, Nina!” Sophie hurled the insult in a rage.
“Why? Not liking it, Dr. Sophie?” Nina asked softly.
Sophie and Nina locked eyes, both of them daring the other to back down.
“Valerie is Rafael’s murderer, this hasn’t been proven, Nina. So, yes. Val can come here,” Marissa spoke.
Nina wasn’t expecting it and turned to watch Marissa, “I thought you loved him,” she protested. “He was your husband.”
“My love for him has nothing to do with Valerie,” Nina opened her mouth to snap when Marissa raised her hand to quiet her, “This. Is. My. Home. Nina… and I can allow anyone here. Don’t forget I allowed you, too.”
There was hurt on the older woman’s face, her shoulders suddenly slumped, and for a moment Marissa regretted her harsh words.
But Nina couldn’t insult her friends just like that.
The door to the living room opened and Valerie stepped inside, “Seems like the party has already started,” she looked around while chewing a piece of gum, “By the way, where is the lawyer?”
“Lawyer?” Marissa asked in a whisper.
“Yeah. Isn’t it a will reading ceremony?” she asked the audience and the room was again enveloped in stunned silence.
“You will… always be a fuc*ker, Valerie!” Nina said with all the hatred she could muster.
