Chapter 336: 336- She Is Coming
Sitting in the car, Marissa waited for Dean to receive her call. Rafael was sitting beside her, holding her hand, their fingers intertwined.
This was the best choice for her not to leave him alone and take him alongside.
Kids were at Sophie’s so she couldn’t send Rafael there.
“I’m sorry. But please take care of the meetings today. Especially the ones that involve Iron rods issue for the bricks,” she explained to Dean busily, checking something on her tab.
“What do you mean? They’ll be pissed if they don’t find you here!” The sharp edge in Dean’s voice reached her ear and she placed the phone a little away from her face.
“I’m sorry and I trust you, Dean,” she said controlling her laughter. After Sophie, if there was one person she had to trust, that was Dean.
He could get stern with her, scold her but ultimately give up to her stupid demands.
“You are a she-devil and you owe me big time,” he retorted like a nagging, complaining wife.
“And you are a darling!” she murmured warmly and disconnected the call. When she tilted her head, she found Rafael watching her.
“You like him. Don’t you?”
She tried to detect jealousy or possessiveness in his voice, “Yeah I do.” She squeezed his fingers, “But you should know that nobody can replace you. Not in the past. Not now. Not ever!”
His face lit up and he straightened but then realized something and bent a little to kiss her cheek, “Sorry. Couldn’t resist.”
Marissa held back the smile. The cunning man was playing it safe. First, it was her hand then her boob, and now his lips had reached her cheek.
“Ma’am?” she looked ahead when her driver called her, “Where to?”
With a sigh, she closed her eyes for a moment and then looked back at Rafael while answering her chauffeur, “Take us to Ashua Village. I need to find my answers there.”
Rafael cocked his head slightly in surprise, “Are we going to Ashua?”
“Yeah!” she gave him an over-brightened smile, “Excited to meet Mala and Talia, honey?”

Marissa could see the fondness on the girls’ faces when they met Rafael. The elder one whose name was Talia was continuously staring at her maybe trying to see what Rafael saw in her.
She was not the same old Marissa anymore who was underconfident due to people’s judgmental looks. She not only faced the family bravely but also thanked John wholeheartedly for saving her husband.
The younger girl whose name was Mala, kept teasing Rafael about the other girls of the village.
Walking on the muddy path, Marissa saw Rafael talking to Mala with an easygoing smile while John was telling Marissa about the beautiful village.
Talia was walking behind them maybe checking Marissa’s ass. Ha-ha.
Marissa wanted to slap herself for such a cheap thought for the girl. She knew this was teenage infatuation and would get over with time.
Right now, John was taking them to the village’s only doctor who had a hand in treating Rafael. Marissa needed to talk to him.
Nobody knew that she was visiting the village otherwise Sophia and Dean had thrown a fit.
The doctor’s clinic seemed almost abandoned, and he was busy reading a book.
“I won’t call myself a doctor, Mrs. Sinclair,” he told her with a kind smile and made them sit in the room, “I’m just a healer who knows the correct use of some herbs.”
“Then do let me know how to heal the pain when your own family is involved in killing someone who is dearest to you.”

She was pointing towards Valerie and Geena. Geena might not be a relative, but Rafael did good to her when took over the responsibility for her education.
If she was involved, then it wasn’t a nice way to say thank you.
Rafael’s lost memory couldn’t allow Marissa to ask him why he took the responsibility of Geena’s education in the first place.
“Mrs. Sinclair,” the healer slid the book away on his desk, “I know why you are here. I took pictures of his injury so that I could keep a record of his recovery. Though after initial treatment he was taken to the hospital, I also kept giving him herbal teas to speed up the recovery.”
Marissa glanced at her husband who was telling Mala about Legos.
“He likes Legos,” Mala told Marissa when found her looking at them.
Yeah, because he always enjoyed Legos with his children.
She thought with a smile. The village was beautiful, and the people here were simple.
When another man came inside the clinic with an envelope, the healer took it from him and opened the envelope to take out a stack of photos.
“Here,” he started spreading the pictures on his desk. Marissa dragged the chair a bit to have a closer look.
“What do you think?” Marissa asked the man in a whisper, “How can we help him in bringing back his memory.”
The healer saw Rafael coming up to Marissa and holding her hand.
“A shock to his brain, maybe,” he tried to keep the reply as short as possible. Marissa couldn’t ask him anything else due to Rafael’s presence.
She was observing the photos when she caught the sight of the one lying in the farthest corner.
“Can you pass me that?” she used her free hand to hold it and then there was a sharp intake of breath.
The injury looked familiar. She didn’t know where she had seen it.
She was about to say something when Rafael’s grip on her hand tightened into a fierce grasp.
“Rafael?” she looked up and frowned when saw his pale face that had started sweating.
“W…we need to get out of here… she … she is coming,” he managed to speak, his breaths coming in ragged gasps.
“Wh-who is coming? Th-There is no one…” she wanted to soothe him when his eyes rolled back before he crumpled to the floor with a thud.
