Chapter 337: 337- Familiar Gash
Sitting beside Sarah, leaning back on the bench, Valerie took a slow drag of her cigarette. Her eyes were half closed as the smoke curled from her lips and drifted into the air.
Crossing one leg over the other, she pulled out a lighter and lit Sarah’s cigarette too.
“So, what’s the plan,” Sarah asked her, with a curious look on her face, “Because the things you want from that Marissa Palace, aren’t possible unless they all are dead. Do you know what I’m trying to say?” she asked Val before taking a long puff.
Valerie stared at the faint haze of smoke swirling around them. After a beat she finally exhaled, her lips twisting into a bitter smile, “Hmm. You’re forgetting something, Sarah. My mom is already there, and I am not planning to ditch her this easily. Not unless I get what I want.”
Sarah watched her carefully, a flicker of unease crossing her face, “Don’t you think, that’s a little extreme?” She asked Valerie who was still staring into space, “Last time it was Kanderton Police that was after us. But this plan of yours can change our fate. Interpol might get involved.”
Valerie chuckled and a tear slipped down her face, “Don’t tell me that you are chickening out, Sarah. Remember what I did last time to bring back your boyfriend? I took the blame for sleeping with that guy just to keep you safe. And now you’re telling me about Interpol?”
Sarah was still hesitant about it. She had been doing small crimes and getting into jail. But the idea Valerie suggested was something big and could land them in serious trouble.
“Have you thought of consequences?” Sarah asked her and when found Val glaring at her she raised her free hand in defense, “I’m not backing off. But we also need a plan B. A backup plan. Rafael and Marissa might want to kill you.”
Valerie shrugged and kept taking puffs deep in her thoughts. If everything went as planned, Marissa and Rafael would be on their knees, begging for her forgiveness.
“They both have already killed me,” she muttered under her breath, but Sarah heard her.
She wasn’t the same Valerie who got scared behind those bars. This one seemed a little obsessed with Marissa’s family.
Valerie hadn’t shared anything with her except that she was planning to do something big that could make them rich.
Sarah threw away her cigarette and moved closer to Valerie, “You can tell me, Val… what you’re really up to. I swear I’d never say a word,” she pinched the skin on her throat to assure her.
Valerie wasn’t very experienced in this field, and she could get them jailed if they didn’t go through her plans before making any tough decisions.
Valerie chuckled and flickered her cigarette ash to the ground. She leaned back, her expression hardening, “Some things are better kept secret,” her voice was cold but then a small smile appeared on her face, “Just understand. This time I’m not after trash. Marissa swiped my most precious possession right out from under me… so this time…” she slowly turned to face Sarah who had uncertainty on her face, “This time… I’m going to take her most precious jewel!” She finished with a wink.

When Rafael opened his eyes, he found Marissa standing there fanning his face with a paper fan.
“Thank God, Rafael,” she kissed his forehead, and he touched the skin of his face where her lips touched.
Talia was observing him keenly and for some reason, she found it utterly sweet. Marissa even didn’t notice what he did.
She was so worried that now she was sure that something was going on at the back of Rafael’s mind.
“Mr. Alexander!” the healer turned to Rafael.
Every time someone called him by this name, Marissa used to flinch. The healer went to him and started checking his eyes for any paleness or signs of distress.
“Mr. Alexander. Nothing happened to you. It’s all in your head. Why don’t you go out and exercise,” the old man patted Rafael’s back with a firm hand and Marissa waited when Rafael turned to leave the room.
“I need a few minutes with him,” she explained to her husband, and Rafael left the room with a nod.
Mala and Talia also followed him outside.
“Mrs. Sinclair,” now there were only Marissa and John sitting with the healer, “Your husband is going through some trauma. You need to handle him sensibly. His brain needs a shock to remember everything. No, you can’t give him a jolt or a shock wave intentionally. It only happens in movies.”
Marissa felt embarrassed because she had thought exactly that.
“Life isn’t a movie, Ms. Sinclair,” Marissa kept looking at the photo where Rafael’s gouge was giving her chills.
There was one picture before stitching and the other after stitching the wound.

She was thinking hard where she had seen it.
Rafael’s behavior also showed that he had seen it before. She needed to use the internet to get some information about this specific scar.

While traveling back to the city they both were silent in the cat. Rafael was holding her hand, looking out of the window.
Another bruise was added on the back of his head due to the fall that needed an ice pack, but the healer opted to let him exercise to channel his frustration.
“Ice pack will make him more aggressive,” he had told Marissa.
When her phone got back the signals, she started getting messages and call notifications. Rafael shifted his attention to her, his eyes filled with quiet warmth.
“I think I know where I saw that injury,” he told her softly and when Marissa waited for him to speak more, he sighed and admitted, “I think… this woman… my mom… she has it…”
“Ok,” Marissa nodded at him encouragingly. She wanted to tell him to relax back and close his eyes and not to put any pressure on his mind but then she bolted up with a sharp intake of breath.
Rafael saw the shift in her attitude and glanced at her in concern, “What is it, wifey!”
Marissa couldn’t speak as she felt a chill running through her spine. She remembered where she had seen this gouge.
Her parents.
They both got the same lesion when they were attacked by an unknown person.
“Shit! Valerie!” she quickly made a call to her butler so that she could ask him not to let Valerie enter her house.
