Chapter 344: 344- Don’t Punish Me!

“Leave me Gabriel!” she tried to push him away, but he didn’t let her go instead he held her face and started kissing her. Nina’s fists kept moving, landing small punches at him, but he wasn’t in the mood for any arguments.

When she realized he wasn’t backing off, she bit his lip.

It worked, Gabriel hissed and stepped back suddenly, “You …” rage was evident on his face.

“Leave me and get lost!” She spat in anger but then both of them were startled when someone knocked the door.

“Please open the door. I need to use the bathroom,” A woman almost pleaded. Before Nina could stop him, Gabriel spoke.

“Drainage issue, ma’am. It’s being fixed. Kindly use some other restroom.”

The woman seemed to go away cursing the staff. Gabriel turned to her and pleaded in a soft voice, “Please come to meet me in that Chinese restaurant where we first met. I’ll wait for you there and won’t move an inch unless you arrive.”

Nina didn’t react to the threat. She was still angry and didn’t want to hear his explanations.

Gabriel went to the bathroom door and placed his hand on the doorknob to unlock it, “Remember! You need to be there at one pm sharp!” with that he opened the door cautiously and peeked outside to see if there was someone.

When he saw that the coast was clear, he quickly left, leaving behind a confused Nina.

That night was a torture for her. She kept tossing and turning in her bed. At the party, she not only lost her best friend but also her lover.

She had no plans to go and meet Gabriel. He could do whatever he wanted to do. Even if it was a suicide.

In the afternoon around lunchtime, Nina was pacing around in the living room.

He must be waiting for me. But no. Why should I go to him?

He is nothing but a liar. A cheater. I’ll never forgive him.

But what if you listen to him once? At least you should give him a chance to let him explain himself.

Nina was torn between the two extremes.

To go or not to go!

Shane wasn’t home and Miles was in the library. Running her fingers through her hair, she thought for a moment and then at last decided to meet him.

After all, it wouldn’t hurt her if she met him once and let him speak. She went to her room to get ready, after all, she needed to hide her dark circles under that makeup layer.

When she walked into the Chinese restaurant, her heart was pounding due to the added guilt of Naila.

Before today the guilt used to be about cheating on Shane but now Naila’s face was popping up before her eyes.

This time she was cheating on her friend too.

She spotted Gabriel sitting at a corner table. The moment he saw her, his face lit up. He stood up with a warm smile on his face.

“I knew you would come,” he said softly, with that same ease and sweet smile that made her insides go giddy.

However, she couldn’t smile back when she reminded herself what a jerk he was. She took the seat opposite to him and before she could talk to him, a waiter arrived to ask for their orders.

They both glanced up, Nina wasn’t interested in ordering anything, but Gabriel quickly ordered a couple of drinks.

“We need the drinks as an excuse to sit here,” Once they were alone, he explained to her, and she didn’t give any response.

Gabriel leaned forward his fingers rapping lightly on the table as he watched her, “Listen, Nina,” he started, “Marrying Naila was a part of the family business. Believe me, honey. I never loved her.”

Nina at last looked up at him. Was he serious?

Her lips tightened and her eyes narrowed slightly, “Never loved her?” a sarcastic grin made its way on her face, “Everyone knows that it was a love marriage.”

Gabriel shook his head firmly, “No!” he said, almost too loudly, “It’s her family who spread the rumor, but it’s not true. I never loved her. Our business empire was sinking, and we needed help. My parents made me marry her to support the family business. It was almost a business deal, honey. You need to understand that we don’t have anything in common.”

Nina could see his eyes getting misty. That perfect sheen of moisture there. Her eyes dropped to her hands which she had clasped tightly on the table.

This pain was still too much to bear, “Liar!” she whispered.

“What?”

“I said you are a liar!” she told him casually as if she was discussing fashion with him, “Your parents forced you to marry her and then they started living in your bedroom too, to make sure that you produce kids every year?” she asked him with mockery in her tone.

“Nina…”

Nina didn’t let him speak, “You don’t love her, but you enjoy making her pregnant. I never knew that a man could hate his wife so much that he gets her pregnant again and again. What would have happened if you had loved her? Maybe you would go for twins and triplets or maybe quadruplets on each attempt?” she asked with a smirk.

She could feel the pain twisting inside her. He was sitting there awkwardly and the confidence that used to be the part of him was missing right now.

“Listen, Nina,” he bent his head a little, “there is only one woman I ever loved and that is you,” He nodded when she looked into his blue eyes, “You’re the only one. The kids were conceived when you weren’t even in the picture. I am not denying my affairs and I agree that I was a player, sweetheart… but you’re the one who I gave my heart to…”

He got quiet when the waiter returned with their drinks, “Thank you,” Gabriel muttered under his breath, barely glancing at him, and waited for him to leave.

“I love you, Nina,” he said again, “Please don’t leave me. Give me some time and I’ll come up with something.”

He then got a little bolder and held Nina’s hand. Nina was startled and looked around, “Gabriel!”

But his grip was too tight on her hand, “I didn’t sleep with my wife last night and I’m planning to continue that, Nina. You’re the only one who my heart belongs to. My body is for you, baby. Please don’t punish me. I promise I’ll make everything right.”

Nina felt her heart sinking when saw him all emotional, pleading with her.
