Chapter 348: 348- Divorce
“I was not sleepy enough, so I thought… to go out and … drink something to make myself sleep so I decided to drink coffee …” In her panic, she reminded herself that coffee was not taken for sleeping peacefully but for staying awake.
“I mean… I… wanted to drink chamomile tea but the bottles swapped…” She could feel beads of sweat on her face.
Instead of asking for an explanation, he was silently taking puffs.
“Go to him, if you love him!” he told her casually and that made her more stunned. Which husband tells his wife to go to some other man?
“Shane… I …”
“I’m serious, Nina. Pack your bags and leave my house. If you love him then ask him to take you off my hands. I can’t bear your presence anymore.”
Nina swallowed hard. She wanted to kill Gabriel for doing this to her perfect life. He was not a man of his word; then how could she trust him and leave Sinclair home?
Suddenly, Shane threw away the covers and left the room leaving a stunned Nina behind.

Miles stopped dead in his tracks when he stepped into the study room. Shane was curled up like a baby on a small bunk, sound asleep on the small bunk against the wall.
Watching his son, sleeping like this, did something to his heart. Shane must have sensed his presence because he stirred a little, rubbed his eyes, and blinked up at his father. There was a weary look on his face.
“Shane!” Miles called his name softly, frowning, “Why are you sleeping in here?”
Shane sat up slowly, yawning and clearly struggling to find the right words. He rubbed the back of his neck, avoiding Miles’s gaze.
Miles glanced around the room and after a moment, he moved to one of the shelves, “I told you not to marry her,” he said without looking at his son, idly grabbing a book but not opening it, “she was not the one for you, Shane.”
He turned back to Shane, there was an edge in his voice, “You didn’t listen to me,” Shane could see complaints in his father’s eyes.
He looked down at his lap and shook his head, “I thought she was the best for me… I thought…” he paused, swallowing hard, “I thought I was in love with her, and I thought she was too.”
Miles shook his head, putting his book down on the table as he walked over to Shane and placed his hand on his shoulder, “Love shouldn’t come at the cost of your peace, Shane.”
Shane clenched his jaw, not wanting to tell his father that he already did some digging and found a lot about his wife.
Miles gave his son’s shoulder a reassuring squeeze before stepping away, “You deserve someone who actually cares for you. Not for your money…but for who you are.”
He pointed towards him and then turned to pick up his book. Shane nodded, running a hand through his hair.
He didn’t tell his father that he had made a decision and was waiting for the right time to work on it.

It was past ten and Nina was still asleep. Her phone’s loud ringtone woke her up and she covered her eyes with her palms.
“What the hell! Whoever you are. Can’t you let me sleep peacefully?” thankfully the ringtone died after a few moments.
She was again slipping into deep sleep when it started ringing again.
Nina groaned in frustration, “Who is this fuc*ker?” she sat up in the bed and then remembered about last night.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she crawled to the side of the bed to get her phone, “Hmm. Hello!” she spoke sleepily.
“Hey, princess. Still sleeping? Y our sleeping image is enough to make me hard!” Nina’s eyes went wide in shock.
Gabriel?

“You shouldn’t have called me, Gabriel,” she looked around in panic. She couldn’t afford to get caught again.
“Why not? I just got confirmation, that your husband is in office.”
Nina leaned back her head on the headboard and tried to stifle her yawn, “What do you want?” she snapped at him, but he didn’t mind her rude tone.
“You!”
His response made her heart flutter.
“We need to do some serious talking. I can’t be available to you anymore, Gabriel,” She warned him.
She would soon talk to Shane to give her one more chance. She wasn’t aware of how much he knew.
“Shh. Don’t say that!” his heavy deep voice sounded good on the phone, and she tried to shake off the thought that his voice seemed more se*xy when he used to be on top of her, making love to her.
“I think… I think… Shane knows about us,” There was silence on the other side of the phone that stretched so long that she thought he was no more on the line.
“Oh. That’s not good news but nothing to worry about. I’ll see what I can do. Let’s plan something for our future.”
When Nina disconnected the call, she was over the moon. The thought of getting married to Gabriel and then moving into the same rich society with a handsome man by her side was making her excited.
But she also wanted to talk to Shane. After the divorce, she wanted to have enough money as alimony for her support.
Shane needed to pay her if he wanted her out of his life.
“Well!” she went to the mirror and giggled, “Let’s get ready to meet my future husband.”
Her smile slowly faded off her face when she saw an olive-colored paper in the mirror, placed on the nightstand. With a frown, she went to it and picked it up. Shane never left his documents lying around.
However, when her eyes caught the heading, a cold chill ran through her. She rubbed her eyes with her fist to read the words.
Right at the top, DIVORCE DECREE was written in bold letters.
