Chapter 351: 351- Good Excuse
It had been seven days since Nina left the house, but Shane seemed composed. His aura executed calmness.
Miles Sinclair had thought that Shane would go too quiet or would at least take off from the office. His son needed to channel his hatred and resentment towards a woman like Nina.
But Shane sounded too chirpy and didn’t quit the office. His colleagues had told Shane how he had become more pleasant towards his employees and how he had started treating every one of them with extreme respect and courtesy.
Miles hadn’t expected any of it. It seemed like Shane was waiting for Nina to leave and once she walked out, he had started feeling lighter.
“Are you really happy or is it just a facade,” Miles asked his son who was humming while going to a meeting.
Shane’s only answer was his simple signature smile without any explanations.
However, Miles’s next words made him stop midway when he was applying gel to his hair, “She will come back, son.”
Shane looked at his father in the mirror and then went on with his tasks. When Miles thought he wouldn’t get an answer, Shane inhaled a deep breath and started checking his phone, “I don’t want her anymore in my life. Once she realizes that she can take half of my property and I can’t do a thing about it, she will go to a lawyer.”
Miles nodded, “I know. Also, don’t forget, that Gabriel is a very cunning man. He will ask her to either talk to a lawyer. Or he might ask her to talk shit in the court against you,” Miles got up from his seat and came closer to Shane.
Holding his shoulders, Miles made him turn around to face him and started fixing the collar of his shirt. Just like he used to do when he was a kid.
Shane looked at his father carefully and wished he could have the same height and same personality as him.
“Don’t worry, Shane. She won’t go to the court. She’ll come back soon at your doorstep. You made a mistake by handing her that document. I don’t think she will ever submit it.”
Shane stayed quiet.
Why wouldn’t Nina submit it? After all, it was the key to her freedom.

It had been seven days since she left that house. Gabriel had brought her to his deserted house and here they were having the time of their lives.
There was no other soul except them, and they had nothing to do except have sex and order food.
They were supposed to collect the marriage license the next day and Nina had to submit the divorce documents two hours before claiming the license.
She hadn’t told Gabriel that the divorce document was still there in her bag. He must have assumed that Shane had already submitted it.
“What are you thinking?” he sat beside her and handed over a beer can to her, “Excited about tomorrow?” he asked her, and she couldn’t say yes. A smile was her only answer.
They had made love in every room of this house. Even the garden wasn’t spared.
Nina was deep in her thoughts when he snapped his fingers before her eyes, “Back to earth, Nina. Don’t tell me, you want me again, inside you.”
Nina chuckled and slapped his arm. The giddiness was back in the pit of her stomach.
They went back inside, and this time chose the bathroom to make love under the shower. While holding the counter tightly, Nina thought how lucky she was to have Gabriel in her life.

“What will you do by going this early?” Gabriel asked her when saw her getting ready for the council office.
Nina felt guilty for not confiding in him but now she needed to reach the office as early as possible.
“I must be there for some paperwork, love. Join me after two hours,” she leaned down to kiss right on his lips and laughed when he held her head and didn’t let her go.
The kiss prolonged and it was about to turn into a heated love-making session when Nina snubbed herself mentally and held her horses.

“Honey! Don’t be late. I’ll wait for you,” Gabriel at last let her go. She had asked him to be there after two hours and didn’t allow him to accompany her.
This was the best thing about him. He used to give her space and never tried to probe her about the things she didn’t want to tell.
While taking the cab, she felt weird. She had been using luxury cars for so long that now the cab felt oddly unfamiliar and almost beneath her usual standards.
No. Don’t miss Shane. He was nothing but a loser. He had nothing but money.
While Gabriel has everything.
But Gabriel didn’t have this much money. He didn’t have anything of his own and had been living on the funds provided by Naila’s father.
The business empire he was running, didn’t belong to him. He had looks and a brain but not the money.
Instead of walking to the office, she went to a bench and sat down.
What if I keep the divorce document in my purse? She asked herself.
She didn’t know why such a thought crossed her mind. Of course, she loved Gabriel but then there was something that was stopping her from going there.

Gabriel was supposed to reach her after two hours, but three hours had passed and there was no sign of him.
She was sitting on the same wooden bench, holding a disposable cup of coffee. Her fingers were lazily tapping the cup while waiting for him.
Setting the cup beside her on the bench, she picked up her phone and dialed his number. The line rang once before the message, that said, the number, she was trying to reach was currently unreachable.
Her brows furrowed as she ended the call and immediately tried again. The same message was being played.
“Unreachable?” she muttered under her breath, not knowing what to do anymore.
She leaned back in irritation and thought hard.
Was he alright? What if got into an accident?
“You better have a damn good excuse this time, Gabriel!” she muttered after taking the last sip from her cup.
