Chapter 352: 352- Let Me In
Nina waited for Gabriel for six more hours, but he didn’t reach her. There was no call or text from him.
She was trying hard to gulp down her tears but that large lump in her throat was making it difficult.
She got up with her bag and called Gabriel one last time. It was the same message being played again that his number was unreachable.
Clutching the bag to her chest, she looked around. She had nowhere to go. There was no money for her to sustain.
Her jewelry and clothes were at Gabriel’s place, and she didn’t want to go there at the moment. She couldn’t hear his excuses and then those I’m sorries where he was never sorry but just wanted her body.
Did he even love her or was it just lust?
Where would she go?
But…
Wait a minute…
She did have a place to go.
Her own home!
Shane Sinclair’s home!
She quickly opened her bag and took out the document that had been lying there for a week. She could still go to Shane. Her signatures were still missing from the document. She was still married to him.
With a racing heart, she quickly shoved the document into her bag and got up to leave. She needed to reach home and request Shane to take her back.
Request?
No, she needed to beg!

“Enjoying yourself? Please don’t go without having food,” Shane was roaming around in the large hall of his house where all the guests were having the time of their lives.
Like a good host, he was entertaining every guest with a charming smile. This was a big victory for him that the contract which was eyed by every businessman of Sangua was now in Shane’s hands.
By now, everyone had accepted what a great businessman he was. Waiters in crisp uniforms were moving swiftly through the crowd, balancing trays of champagne and hors d’oeuvres.
In one corner of the hall, a live band was there playing a jazzy tune that had a few guests swaying to the rhythm on the makeshift dance floor.
Shane paused near the group of his competitors who immediately raised their glasses in his direction.
“Here’s to you, Shane. What an achievement!” one of them said, clinking the glass with others.
“Thank you,” Shane replied, his grin widening, “I enjoyed slipping the contract right under your noses.”
The men laughed good-naturedly, “This was the last time, Shane!” one of them said agreeably without any meaningful undertones, “Next win is mine!”
Shane slapped his hand on his back, “Good luck, buddy!”
Another man from the group patted his shoulder, “You deserve it, Shane. Not everyone can pull off a deal like that. It’s a game changer!”
This evening was meant to be for his praises. Everyone was proud of him. After his every achievement, they used to forget how he looked.
As Shane passed through the room, he stopped near the bar to take a sip of his own drink. A simple whiskey on the rocks.

His eyes scanned the room and decided to turn back to the crowd when a middle-aged couple approached him.
The husband extended his hand, which Shane shook firmly, “Congratulations on the deal, young boy. Remarkable!”
“Thank you, sir,” Shane said warmly, “I’m glad you both could make it tonight!”
The woman smiled, her gaze lingering for a moment, “It’s a wonderful party. You have outdone yourself, as always. By the way, we were just wondering…” she trailed off and looked at her husband in confusion. Shane felt like her husband was giving her a warning glare.
“What is it Mrs. Richard?” he asked her with a frown. She chuckled in uncertainty and rolled her lips between her teeth.
“I… was wondering about Nina. Your wife. Where is she?”
Shane didn’t let his expression falter, “Nina? She isn’t here Mrs. Richard. I’m sorry. She’s no longer a part of my life. We’re happily divorced now.”
The couple exchanged a quick glance, taken aback by Shane’s honesty. Their smiles faltered at his bluntness.
“Oh, we… didn’t know,” the wife stammered, a light tinge of blush appeared on her face.
With a faint knowing smile, Shane gestured towards the food table, “Why don’t you enjoy food? The fish is our chef’s specialty,” The couple started nodding their heads and walked away feeling a little embarrassed.
Shane tried to ignore the bitterness in his heart and mouth.
Nina!
I hope you never return.
Masking his dejected expression, he headed forward to mingle with the guests. People around him were having the time of their lives with their better halves and here he was.
Alone and single.
Shaking off the thought, he was about to take another step to approach a group of his friends when a guard arrived and whispered near his ear, “Mr. Shane. Your wife is here.”
Wife? I’m a divorced man.
“Are you out of your fuc*king mind?” Shane muttered giving him a chilling look, but the guard just bent his head in respect.
“I asked her to go back but she is continuously repeating the same thing. Let me in, I’m his wife.”
“What the…” In a rage, Shane tossed the glass to a nearby waiter and followed the guard outside.
“What do you want?” he demanded the woman who left him seven days back and was standing there in a disheveled condition.
Tiredness was evident on her face.
Her lips seemed parched, but Shane didn’t feel any sympathy for her.
“I … I’m back, Shane…” she didn’t try to sugarcoat it, “please let me in.”
“This is my house, miss. Not a hotel. Please leave otherwise I’ll ask my security guards to …”
“Shane. Please. I don’t have anywhere to go. Please let me in.”
She was horrified when she saw Shane going inside, leaving her behind. The guard tried to pull her away, but she slapped his hand away, “You touch me, and I’ll make sure that you’re fired,” looking into his eyes, she snarled, “He is angry with me. I’m his wife and no one can treat me like a shit!”
Fixing the strap of her bag on her shoulder, she stepped inside. Her heart was shaking, waiting for a punch or slap from the guard.
However, her threat seemed to have worked. Guard didn’t try to stop her from crossing the gates.
