Chapter 353: 353- Baby
Once inside, Shane found it hard to put up a smiling face. How relaxed he had been for the last week and here Nina was back.
She was expecting him to take her back. What was she thinking of him?
Was he a fool?
“Shane! Son!” his father spoke in a hushed tone.
“She… she is back, Dad,” his hand trembled a little and Miles caught his hand in his strong grip, “Bring a smile to your face, right now, Shane Sinclair,” He instructed him firmly.
“Dad!”
“Shane! Do what I’m asking,” he spoke through clenched teeth, keeping an easy-going smile glued to his face.
“Ok!” Shane spread his lips into a forced smile, “Now what? I can’t stay here anymore.”
“That’s good!” Miles also smiled openly, “Say quick goodbyes to your guests and then leave,” Miles hugged his son.
Shane closed his eyes to control his emotions, “Fine. I’ll do it.”
He met each of his guests and told them, he needed to leave for some tasks.
He went to his bedroom. After changing into an old t-shirt and sweatpants he picked up the car keys and left the house.
He needed some fresh air and wanted to go to the riverside where he could immerse himself in nature to calm his nerves.
He had a hunch.
Nina was back and she would make her way inside his house.
His father was right. The cunning lady didn’t submit the divorce decree to the council.

Nina could feel that the party was in full swing. The beat of the music could be heard on this side of the house.
Shane loves me. He will take me back. She tried telling this to her heart.
No matter how Gabriel was, Shane at least knew how to honor his word.
She went to the glass wall and gazed inside, watching how everyone seemed so carefree. Laughter and smiles were lighting up the crowd.
Even Shane was smiling, though to her, it seemed a little restrained. Still, he managed to move among the guests effortlessly, talking and laughing as if everything in his life was perfectly in place.
And then Nina realized what she had lost. A man who truly loved her.
He knew she had been cheating but he didn’t push her away. If he wasn’t able to fulfill a commitment, he never boasted about it.
He couldn’t even feel that Nina was missing from his life. At the party, unlike other men, he was without a woman by his side.
She was sure, Gabriel must have been with Naila while he had told her that he had already divorced her. But now she was skeptical. Had he really?
What if like Nina he had also lied?
“Nina! What are you doing here?” Nina almost jumped when heard a voice behind her. She was Elizah. A not too close friend.
“Elizah!” Nina tried to smile.

Elizah regarded Nina with furrowed eyes and then spoke, “Why aren’t you attending the party? And look at you!” her eyes were scanning Nina’s appearance.
Nina looked down and found her skirt and blouse wrinkled and dirty. But she knew how to remain confident.
“Oh, Elizah. Don’t worry about my clothes. It’s just that…” she shrugged, “I’m too depressed and can’t attend the party. You know about Shane. He doesn’t like that I have to prefer anything over my mental health. This party might be important to him but I’m more important,” she managed an over brightened grin.
Elizah had a hint of jealousy on her face. Nina was a lucky bitch to get such a caring husband. She moved closer to whisper in Nina’s ear, “I’ve heard you two are getting divorced?” Nina’s heart raced in her chest but then she kept her face composed.
“What! Who told you that?” throwing back her head she started laughing, “Here I am. See?” she spread her arms and twirled on her toes, “I’m still here, living in this beautiful house with Shane.”
Elizah looked inside through the glass wall and pointed to a couple who were standing with the group of guests, “They are telling everyone that Shane just confirmed his divorce with you. He also declared that you are not a part of his family anymore.”
Nina thought she heard wrong. She held onto her big smile and kept her expression composed, “Come on, Elizah. Spouses do fight. Don’t tell me you and yours are always lovey dovey!” she said flipping back her hair over her shoulder.
Elizah’s eyes narrowed when she saw Nina so happy. She made it a point to spread the news in the ton that the news of the divorce was just a rumor.
Nina had started walking around the building when she heard Elizah’s voice behind her, “I missed you and Naila so much.”
Hearing Naila’s name made Nina pause in her steps, “She isn’t here?”
“No. Don’t you know? She is your best friend, and she must have told you.”
With curiosity, Nina slowly turned to Elizah somewhat waiting for the news that Naila and Gabriel were divorced now.
“No!” with a pout, Nina held Elizah’s hands, “I’ve been so busy lately that I couldn’t spare enough time to call her. Tell me, what happened? Is everything alright?”
“She fell in the kitchen this morning and the doctor had asked her to stay on bed rest for the next nine months!”
Now Nina understood where Gabriel was, “Nina months?” she asked absentmindedly.
“Yeah,” Elizah chuckled, “She and Gabriel are expecting their eighth baby.”
Nina thought she had lost all grasp of reality. The words echoed in her mind, leaving her stunned and unable to respond.
Gabriel’s voice and words started coming back to her.
I’ve stopped sleeping with Naila, I only want you, Nina.
I don’t even look at my wife and she is so miserable. But I’m helpless, Nina because I love you.
I’ve divorced her and now I want to stay with you for the rest of my life. Naila isn’t my love she is just the mom of my kids.
Lies, lies, and more lies.
Nina wished she could pull her hair off her scalp.
Why, Gabriel? Why?
Gabriel had been lying to her all this time. He was not only sleeping with Naila but was also two-timing them.
And now he was going to be a father.
Again!
Ready to welcome his eighth baby!
