Chapter 354: 354- He Didn’t Want A Child
Nina hadn’t left the home. It was the only way for her to pressure the Sinclairs to take her back.
Though she was living in such miserable conditions in that garden, still she never saw any compassion or empathy for her in Shane’s eyes.
Miles was always a cruel man but what happened to Shane?
When her parents used to kick her out of the house, this was the only thing that used to work. Staying outside the home always worked and they at last used to accept their defeat and call her back.
For her, it was always a nerve game.
Get on their nerves; ultimately, they will give up and accept your demands.
She was doing the same at Sinclair’s house. As a wife, she had a right to stay here and she would never leave this house unless they took her back.

“Please let me in,” Nina was begging them to let her come inside. It had been three days since she returned and now, she was behaving so stubbornly.
“I swear, I’ll be a good wife. Don’t abandon me, Shane. I have nowhere to go,” Shane was having breakfast with great calm while Miles didn’t know how to bear it.
Nina was testing his patience.
“Son! For God’s sake, make a decision. Do something,” Miles pleaded, looking at the window where Nina was trying to peek inside.
The glass walls were covered with heavy curtains, but they couldn’t cover the whole house with them. The house needed fresh air too.
“She isn’t going back,” Shane muttered, “I told her that I can provide her with a separate house and a monthly amount for her expenses, but she isn’t convinced.”
Even Shane was getting annoyed by her continuous presence.
“She doesn’t want a small house and a fixed amount,” Miles looked over his shoulder where Nina’s cheek was glued to the window glass, “she wants all those luxuries back into her life.”
Shane agreed with Miles. He was in a fix now. Nina didn’t want divorce anymore. She was apologizing and wanted everything back.
But now it was too hard for Shane. He didn’t want her back. He had moved on a long time back and was waiting for her next move to leave him.
He worked hard to build this empire, and Nina didn’t help him in achieving any of it. He could never let her have his money.
“What should I do?” dropping his bread on the plate, he pressed his temples, “I might be a good businessman, but I don’t know how to get rid of this woman. I hate her face.”
Miles felt sorry for his son. He wished he could tell Nina that spouses were supposed to love each other not force each other into a relationship.
He was sure, his son never forced himself on her and now ethically Nina was expected to return the favor. But no.
She wanted to come back to a house where nobody wanted her anymore.
No one loved her.
Her desire to return was not because of Shane but it was the money that would come with Shane.

“The bad news is… there is nothing you can do,” A family lawyer told Shane in a no-nonsense tone, “if there is a divorce then there will be the division of property,” leaning back into his seat he thought for a moment, “unless you prove in court that she was having extra-marital affairs.”
That was what Shan never wanted.
Ethically he didn’t find it in himself to tarnish the character of any woman. No matter how bad she had done to him.

“Mr. Sinclair!” Shane who was getting to his feet, stopped when the lawyer called his name, “If you don’t want to proceed with the case then please take my suggestion. Don’t waste any proof against your wife’s cheating.”
Wait. What?
Shane hesitated before asking the question, “B-but why?”
“Mr. Shane!” the lawyer smiled, “You might be a gentleman, but your wife doesn’t share the same beliefs and ethics. She might do something brutal if you don’t stay alert.”
Shane took the advice seriously and placed all the proofs in a safe that had a password. He and Miles were the only ones who knew the password.
That day he opened the door of the living room and let Nina inside his house. Staying outside for so many days had turned her into a wreck.
“I’m letting you in. But you’re my wife only in the eyes of this society. We don’t have any relation with each other,” Nina looked at Shane in disbelief. He had always been a gentleman but now he was saying those words with so much finality that it hurt Nina.
“B…But… Shane I… I love y…” Shane didn’t let her finish and shot up from his seat.
“I do not have any love for you in my heart, Nina. I repeat. We are spouses in the eyes of society. I don’t give a damn if you sleep with anyone. In the same way, I am not answerable to you for sleeping with other women.”
Nina was startled. What was he talking about?
“Are you planning to sleep with other women?” she didn’t try to hide the tears from him. The man who used to turn crazy whenever he found her crying, didn’t give a flying F about it now.
“Yes. I am!” he accepted it boldly, “Stay away from my affairs. If you aren’t happy then you’re welcome to walk out,” Nina was stunned by the coldness in his eyes.
“Don’t you want a child?” she asked him with hope in her eyes, maybe to lure him to her. He passed her a sarcastic smirk.
“Baby? With you?” he chuckled humorlessly, “Never!”
Baby! I love you and you are the only one I would love to have a baby with. I want daughters who look like you. I want sons from your womb who are there to protect you when I’m no longer there. A memory from the past haunted her.
Now the same man didn’t want a child!
Nina was forgetting something. Shane never said he didn’t want a child. No!
He said he didn’t want a child with her.
There was a difference.
