Chapter 373: 373- For My Giana
“What did you think?” Nina spat in hatred, “You will run away with my son, and I won’t do a thing? I’ll just look at you while you keep playing with my emotions? How gullible you are, Sheila?” her hand was slowly brushing Alex’s back, and his cheek was leaning on Nina’s shoulder.
“Sheila! You don’t want to live there? Fine! Go ahead and never come back. Next time you come close to my son, and I’ll make sure, you bear the consequences,” she warned Sheila coldly.
Sheila wanted to scream. She wanted to tell the woman to keep her hands off her son. But then she realized something.
Maybe Alex was safe with Nina. Maybe she needed to focus on her other child and ensure that he or she would stay safe.
The mere thought of keeping Alex away from her brought pain to her chest and anguish to her eyes.
Nina had gotten up now with Alex hiccupping against her, “He isn’t your son, Sheila. He is my son, Rafael. I’m someone who left her wedding… the only love of my life to be with him.”
Rafael! Nina changed his name? Sheila sobbed internally.
Nina had a mean look in her eyes and her arms were around Alex like she wanted to keep him safe from all the drama.
Sheila felt like someone had torn her heart apart from her body. Alex won’t be with her from here.
This time Nina had won.
I’ll come back. Once this baby is safely born, I’ll come back for Alex. She tried consoling herself.
Without another word, Nina turned on her heels and walked to the car, taking her son with her.
Sheila wanted to scream. She wanted to run after them. Alex was glued to Nina, peeking above her shoulders, looking at his mom who was sobbing silently. The anguish on her face was so intense and so painful to watch that Alexander closed his eyes and buried his face in the crook of Nina’s neck.
Sheila wanted to run after them. She wished she could peel her son’s body off Nina and hide him somewhere.
She kept sitting in the middle of the road, watching the convoy of those cars speed past her.
Nina had won indeed.

Using all her might, Sheila placed her palms on the road and got up. She started walking slowly towards St. Mary orphanage.
This time she had almost forgotten that she was hungry or tired. The only thing she had on her mind was her son’s face.
Today she felt like she had lost Alex too after Shane.
I hope you stay safe there until I come back and take you with me. She told Alexander in her head.

The nuns of St. Mary’s were having soup while chattering good-naturedly when there was a loud knock on the door.
“Who could this be?” Ana got up from her seat to attend to the visitor. It was too freezing for any traveler to walk up here in this cold.
She opened the door and gasped when found a beautiful blonde woman shivering on the doorstep.
In this freezing temperature, she was wearing a thin blouse with a torn skirt and no stockings.
“Good God!” she muttered and made a cross sign over her heart. She looked over her shoulder and called Laila, “Laila. Come over. She is almost blue!”
Sheila looked at Ana’s face and then tried to smile, “Baby… m-my baby… save him… please save…m -my baby.”
Laila had come to help Ana who was looking around to see if there was any baby nearby.

“Baby?” she asked Laila who gestured towards the woman’s tummy.
“She might be with a child!” They had to call more helping hands to carry Sheila as she had passed out on the door.

She was pregnant and under intense pneumonia attack. They had already received Miles Sinclair’s call. Sinclair family had been donating them generously.
Sister Sambal had been the senior most and had once met Shane Sinclair. They all gave the best care to Sheila with the best diet they could manage. But with each passing day, she kept getting weaker.
“Child, you need to take care of yourself because of your baby,” Sister Sambal warned her sternly and Sheila as usual just gave her a small smile.
Ever since she arrived here, she rarely spoke, only offering a few words. Her answers usually were in monosyllables.
It was the start of the seventh month of her pregnancy when she suddenly got labor pains in the middle of the night.
That created a little chaos in St. Mary’s where she delivered a tiny little girl before morning.
“Giana!” she held Sister Sambal’s hand tightly and told her the name.
“Giana is a beautiful name, Sheila.” She squeezed back her hand, but the woman shook her head weakly.
“Take very good care of her. I’ll… I’ll return with my son in the next few days.’
“What do you mean?” Sister Sambal seemed a little startled. They never allowed a mom to travel before completing her forty days after childbirth, “You just gave birth to a baby girl and here you are telling me that you’re planning to go with this beautiful little blonde angel and…” Sheila didn’t let her speak,
“I didn’t say I’m taking her. Keep her here and let me go to bring my son,” she started crying, “He needs me. I can’t leave him with that evil woman.”
Sister Sambal felt pity for this girl. But she couldn’t allow the girl to take risks.
“No. I can’t let you, Sheila. At least spend a little time with us. Your girl needs her mother’s milk. It’s her right,” Sheila didn’t look convinced but then nodded at the older woman.
“OK. I won’t go,” she agreed with a smile, and sister Sambal kissed her forehead.
However, the next morning when sister Sambal came into the room to change Giana’s nappy, Sheila’s bed was empty.
There was an envelope placed in the middle of the bed that said, ‘For My Giana’.
As a mom, she had left her girl in safe hands to bring back her son.
