Chapter 380: 380- Nothing Is Cold!
Marissa might be facing difficulty in handling the chaos but with Rafael back to their lives, she was sure that she could bring back all the happiness that her family deserved.
Sitting on the bed, her back was leaned to the hardboard with a pillow clutched to her chest. Beside her, Rafael was fast asleep with the kids lying close to him.
They all were in deep sleep as if they had been walking for the past few days and now wanted to rest. Along with his kids, Rafael was sleeping like a small child whose mommy went missing but now he was back in her warm embrace.
For a moment, Marissa’s heart went out to that six-year-old kid who could never get a chance to meet his mom again. Who was kept thirsty and hungry for so many days so that he could accept that evil woman as his mom.
The torture his body endured, was a very harrowing experience and she wished to God, that no child would ever have to go through it.
Her kids took it well but for Nina, they had to come up with an excuse that she had to leave Kanderton city for some urgent business trip. They couldn’t tell the kids, that their granny was a murderer who destroyed several lives because of her ego and now was in the police station.
None of the kids seemed convinced but they didn’t remark. Right now, they were too happy with Rafael’s surprised return to their lives.
Abi was sad for her Lion King character who could never get back his father in the movie. She considered herself lucky.
Marissa jumped a little when a rough hand touched her arm gently. Rafael was awake and was looking at her with half-closed eyes, “Why are you not sleeping?” he asked her in a whisper.
Because I’m too busy looking at you people and trying to believe in my sheer luck.
She thought with a smile but didn’t say anything. She shook her head and slid down a little to place her head on the pillow. Something in her told her that she wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight due to all the excitement she experienced over the last few days.
The man lying beside her in that bed along with her kids was a walking miracle.
She closed her eyes and tried squeezing her lips when the same heavy hand started brushing his fingers through her hair.
Marissa let her body relax. Right now, she was scared to go to sleep. The reason was fear.
She didn’t want to lose her family again.
The terror that it might all be a dream and once she woke up, Rafael wouldn’t be there anymore.
Thankfully Nina was in police custody but if she was here then she could harm her babies too. All this time Valerie was right when she told them that she was innocent.
Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron were also attacked because Nina paid them money to keep their mouths shut.

Marissa picked up the tray that had two steaming coffee cups on it. She could see Rafael and her kids through the glass door.
“Ma’am. Let me help you with it?” a maid offered her, but Marissa declined the offer with a gentle smile.
She didn’t want to disturb this intimate family time. The kids were seated around Rafael, and he was telling them God knew what stories.
She pushed open the glass door and walked out, trying to balance the small tray.
“Coffee, Mr. Sinclair!” she announced and placed the tray on the oak tree stem that was carved into a table.
“Thank you, Mrs. Sinclair,” Rafael moved aside making room for her, and threw his arm around her as soon as she rested her ass on the bench.
The kids had started running around and Marissa could feel the happiness emitting from them.
This was the family life she imagined.
This was the family life she craved for.
This was the family life she missed when they thought that they had lost Rafael one year back.

Rafael tilted his head to look at his wife’s face. Her cheek was rested against his chest and her eyes were closed, “Tired?”
Marissa didn’t open her eyes and shook her head, “Umm hmm.”
“OK. Then scared maybe?”
Her eyes were wide open at that. She blinked a few times before asking him, “And why would I be scared?”
He gestured with his face towards the highchair where Abigail was sitting comfortably, reading a book. Maybe she had already accepted that running and playing wasn’t for her, “Hey surgery, strawberry.”
Marissa inhaled a long breath before looking up into his green eyes, “When you’re by my side then I don’t need to be scared of anything, Rafael. Right?”
He kept staring at her and then at last nodded at her, “Damn right,” his eyes darted to his kids where Ariel had snatched the ball from Alex and was now running in circles while giggling, “No one in my family should be scared, Marissa.”
Marissa kept looking at the side of his face that was visible to her. The man who arranged everything for his family before dying and came back into their lives.
He named his property in her name because in his subconscious he knew what could be done to Marissa and his kids.
He might not remember his past but deep inside he knew this was the only way to keep them safe. He didn’t want Marissa and his kids to suffer from the same heartache that his mom experienced when Shane Sinclair died.
She smiled and whispered, “I love you!”
His lips curled into a cute smile, and he turned his head to look at her, “And I love you more,” he kissed hard on her lips, “You pack Abi’s essentials for the hospital and let me have a daddy-daughter talk with her. She needs to know that we will be close to her all this time.”
Marissa nodded and handed over the coffee cup to him, “I think our coffee is already cold.”
“Nah. Nothing is cold as long as you are around, Strawberry.”
