Chapter 383: 383- Miracle
“Are mommy and daddy worried, Aunt Sophie,” Abigail asked her and then placed her arms around her favorite aunt’s neck.
She was lying in the master bedroom of Rafael and Marissa because a maid had informed Sophie that Mr. Sinclair wanted his kids to sleep there.
Georgie made a face when heard about the sleeping arrangements and Sophia’s heart went out to him, “Hey. Join us,” she offered him with a friendly smile, but he shook his head and squeezed his lips.
“No, Aunt Sophie. But thank you. I want to sleep in my bed,” With slumped shoulders, he was about to walk away when Abi called his name.
“Georgie. Don’t worry. I’ll say my goodbyes before leaving for the hospital,” Georgie gave her a faint smile and Sophie felt like he had grown up several years.
Marissa had located his father but couldn’t contact him due to Rafael’s unexpected return to their lives.
Alex and Ariel had already gone to sleep but Abi was just watching the ceiling, “Hey, sweetie pie. What are you thinking?”
Abi tried to smile and then shook her head, “Nothing!”
Sophie made a pout and started teasing her around her belly button, “There is something. I can see it on your face.”
Abi started giggling and then Sophie had to place her finger on her lips when Alex stirred in his sleep.
“You two need to let us sleep!” Ariel said in a sleepy voice, “Unlike you, some people have work to do!” Sophie wanted to laugh hard.
These three munchkins could never let her get bored in their presence.
The bedroom door creaked open, and the maid entered the room with a glass of milk, “We have clear instructions from the doctor. She needs to drink it before bed as she has to leave early morning.”
“Yuck!” Abigail rolled her eyes and pulled the quilt above her face, Sophie could hear her muffled cries, “Aunt Sophie. Mercy!”
Sophie wanted to laugh again, “Shh. You are again disturbing your siblings,” she whispered while taking the glass from the maid, “Now be a good girl and drink it.”
Abigail got up and made a face, “They don’t even mix cocoa powder in it.”
As a doctor, Sophie knew that this was a requirement by Abigail’s nutritionist that included a glass full of milk without anything mixed in it.
“Just a few days more, honeybunch. Once you are healthy then there won’t be any restrictions.”
Abi’s face showed as if she wanted to gag.
“Aunt Sophie. Can you ask Georgie to come here for a minute?”
“What has Georgie got to do with this glass of milk?”
“Can I tell you a secret?” Abi asked her with a secretive smile and then brought her small face closer to Sophie’s. Her whisper made Sophie frozen in her place, “Aunt Sophie. Georgie is my future husband.”

Rafael Sinclair and Marissa Sinclair.
They both were crying like two kids, holding each other.
This time their pain was common.
“Rafael…” Marissa tried to speak, “Rafael … what if …”
“Shh!” Rafael didn’t let her speak, “Don’t speak. Stay quiet.”
“B…But…”

“Strawberry. Just for a minute… please… stay like this … keep hugging me…” He pleaded to her, and she nodded in agreement.
Being a man didn’t mean that he was there just to offer support. He also needed the same support, and she wanted to be there for him, just as he had been for her.
She leaned her cheek on his shoulder, and they stayed like this for a minute. Rafael had gotten down to his knees and she was also kneeling against him.
Her eyes were closed, and she was thinking that his presence in her life was a miracle. The realization made her eyes go wide open.
He must have sensed her stiffen in his arms and tilted back his head with a frown so that he could have a better look at her face, “What happened?”
“M-Miracle!”
“Hmm? What?” he asked her in confusion.
“I said miracle…” the first teary smile appeared on her lips, “You are in my life by some miracle, Rafael,” She told him excitedly and he sat on the floor, hauling her on his lap.
“How?”
“See! I left your home, and you didn’t believe me when I told you I’m your wife,” there were traces of guilt on his face, but this wasn’t the time to address them, “Still you waited for me. You came after me,” she started wiping the tears off his face, “One year back, we thought you are dead, and see?” she pointed towards his face, “You are very much alive and sitting here with me. Everything in my life is nothing less than a miracle. That includes your presence too, Rafael,” Rafael was just staring at her beautiful face, wondering if she had always been this beautiful or if it was tonight that she looked extremely gorgeous.
There was something spiritual between them that was never there before. Or maybe it was there but they never felt it.
“Why I never felt this connection?” he muttered under his breath and this time she scrunched her nose.
“I’m talking about miracles, and you are thinking of some connection! You jerk!” she wanted to get up from his lap when he stopped her.
“No silly. That miracle and connection are interlinked.”
“Wait what?” her mouth was wide open forming the shape of the letter O.
“Nothing!” he playfully slapped her head lightly, “Now come on. Get up! We need to go to sleep,”
Sleep? Marissa raised her face to gaze at the sky. She didn’t think she would be able to sleep tonight.
“I don’t want to!” she informed him stubbornly, but he not only got up but also scooped her up in his arms.
“You have to, strawberry. Because you are the center of our family, and our happiness depends on you.”
Marissa looked into his green eyes and smirked, “And what about my happiness?”
His face got serious yet intense, “You and the kids are my life, and I’ll go to any length to see you all happy,” he looked down until his eyes dipped to her lips, “When was the last time I kissed you?”
