Chapter 384: 384- She Will Be Alright
(Trigger warning for weak-hearted. Though I’ll try my best not to be too graphic)
“Tomorrow they would dissect her skin, open her chest, and work on her little heart,” Marissa whispered lying on Rafael’s chest.
They both were still awake and talking in whispers because all three kids were sleeping nearby.
Rafael wished he could tell his wife, he also wanted to postpone the surgery. He just met his kids and now one of them would be admitted to the hospital in a few hours.
“Take some rest, Marissa,” he kissed her hair, “tomorrow is going to be a long day,” he breathed the words softly near her ear.
Marissa didn’t want to go to sleep, she still closed her eyes and tried to drift into a peaceful slumber that seemed the least possible.
Rafael didn’t know when his eyes closed, and he kept dreaming about a woman who was running after him.
“Alex! Alex! Stop running!” she was giggling while running after him and he kept dodging her while running through the dense forest.
“Sweetheart. Please stop. Now I’m tired,” her voice had turned teary now. But Rafael kept running.
He looked down and realized his feet were not as big as they used to be. They were the feet of a six-year-old child.
“Come to me, love!” the six-year-old turned his head when a different female voice spoke, and he slowed his pace only to find Nina standing on his right. She was signaling him to get closer to her.
Rafael wasn’t scared of her. He just felt hatred in his heart, seeping through his veins. This woman… she was the one who killed his parents.
He started stepping back to get away from Nina, but she had spread her arms to welcome him in her embrace, “Come to me, love. I’m your mommy!”
“My love!” she wanted to say more when Rafael didn’t give her a chance. He turned on his heels and started running back with the full throttle, back to that blonde woman who was following him.
“Rafael. Stop!” Nina sounded desperate when she started running after him. But Rafael wasn’t running to keep himself safe. He was running because he wanted to save that blonde woman who could get killed by Nina. That woman was nowhere to be seen.
He stopped running and looked around while controlling his labored breaths.
Where was the woman?
A few moments back, she was right behind him!
“Mom!” he tried calling the blonde woman but panicked when didn’t get any answer, “Mom! Where are you? I’m sorry. Please come back to me!”
“Sweetheart!” the same evil voice spoke near him, “Looking for that woman? Calling her your mom? Huh!”
Rafael looked at Nina, but he didn’t want to talk to that vile woman. She destroyed his whole world.
“She is my mom!” he spat in anger still not looking at her, but his remark changed her demeanor, and she was now fuming in rage.
“She is NOT your mother, Rafael!” Rafael’s eyes kept darting around, looking for her. This time he didn’t want to give up on that blonde woman. He was no longer a child now and didn’t want to disappoint his mom.
“Mom!” he called out only to hear the mocking laughter of the woman whom he despised the most.
Rafael’s eyes darted around frantically, scanning the forest and the jagged cliff edge for any sign of his mother. His breathing quickened, and panic started clouding his senses.
“Mom!” he shouted again at the top of his lungs.
“Looking for your dear mommy?” the woman’s voice slithered through the air. Rafael could sense the malice dripping from it.
The woman took a step closer, her lips curling slowly into a sinister smile, “Well! I pushed her off this cliff!”
The words hit him like a thunderbolt. He froze, his mind refusing to believe what she was telling him.

No, she was lying. She was a born liar.
But then she was Nina Sinclair and could kill anyone whom she disliked.
As the realization sank in, his green eyes buckled. He fell to the forest floor, trembling as the sobs wracked his six-year-old body.
His cries pierced the dense forest. His hand flattened against the damp earth beneath him. But nothing was offering him solace.
He was shaking violently with grief when a pair of white shoes appeared before his eyes on the dirty ground. He blinked through the tears that were blurring his vision and raised his face a little.
His breath hitched as his gaze traveled upwards. The same angelic face he was looking for, was leaning over him and it almost made his heart stop.
“Mom?” he choked on his tears as he tried to shake himself off the shock.
Sheila him a radiant smile that made his heart lighter and body relax, “Alex. My son!”
“I’m sorry, Mom. I’m so sorry,” he whimpered, his voice trembling a little, “That day… I gave you such a hard time. I should have accompanied you… I… I put your life in danger.”
The angel-faced woman dropped to her knees, her own eyes glistening. She cupped his face in her hands, “No, sweetheart, no!” she murmured as her thumbs gently brushed away the tears on his cheeks.
Her puny arms pulled his strong body into her embrace, “I’m not mad at you. Do you know I’ve been keeping an eye on you all this time?”
Rafael was crying like a baby in her arms.
“Don’t worry, my love. She’ll be alright!” Rafael pulled back with a frown and found Sheila smiling softly, “Abigail will be just fine. You need to trust the fate, love.”
Rafael wanted to speak more but she placed her finger on his lips, “Say, hello to Giana.”
Rafael woke up from the dream with a jerk.
“What happened?” Marissa got up and was shocked when saw him crying, “Rafael!”
Rafael tried to chuckle and then pulled her to him, “Abigail will be alright. Mom just told me that she will be alright.”
