Chapter 393: 393- Y-You?
At the breakfast table, Marissa could sense how quiet Rafael was. He didn’t get proper sleep last night and whenever she woke up, she would find him looking up at the ceiling, deep in his thoughts.
Something was bothering him and Marissa did know what it was. She needed him to walk this path alone.
“Daddy! I can’t eat this spinach piece,” Abigail complained to the man who might be sitting there at the table but was eating his breakfast absentmindedly.
“Yeah, Daddy,” Ariel made a pout, “Spinach sucks!”
“Ariel!” Marissa gave her a stern look with that mommy stare, “Spinach is healthy.”
They got busy with the eating but Abi who knew how to take advantage of the situation was still pushing Spinach pieces on the edge of the plate.
Ever since her surgery, she could see how Mommy and Daddy were giving her princess treatment and now her little mind could think of some more demands that she could put forth.
“Daddy! Look at Abi!” Ariel was at once aware of what her sister was trying to do, “She isn’t eating her veggies.”
“Hmm?” Rafael exhaled the air and eyed his warrior daughter who was giving eye rolls with a scrunched nose. Marissa was asking Alex to finish his egg which he never liked much.
“Daddy! This Spinach smells like shi…”
Marissa didn’t let Abi finish and slapped her hand on the table, “Abi!”
“OK, sweetie!” Rafael reached over, picked up the wilted butter-dipped Spinach from her plate, and pushed it into his mouth, “here. I’ve eaten it.”
Abi was still recovering and he didn’t want to upset his daughter.
Ariel didn’t like it, “And what about me, Daddy?” there were several lines on her little forehead. Before Rafael could utter a word, Alex turned to her,
“Hey, sis,” Alex shifted his focus from his mom to his sister, “I’ll eat your Spinach. Happy?”
“Alexander!” Marissa’s eyes were wide in frustration, “You all are supposed to eat your own spinach!”
“It’s okay, Mom,” he held his mom’s wrist gently, “she is comparing herself with Abi. For now, it’s alright. After all. What are brothers for!”
His remark shook the chords of Rafael’s heart who was seated on the head seat. Marissa didn’t know what got into him when he dropped his fork on the plate and got up suddenly from his seat.
Marissa tried stopping him, “Rafael?”
Her husband bent closer and kissed her forehead, “I’ll be back soon, strawberry.”

“Thank you, Ethan,” Geena pushed the last carton into the corner of the room and plopped on the edge of the bed.
“You should thank my friend, who wanted a caretaker for this place and you got a chance to get a rent-free apartment,” instead of helping her place her stuff in the cupboard, he was busy switching TV channels.
Geena got up and slapped hard on his shoulder, “At least place my shoes in that shoe rack, Ethan. Or don’t expect me to cook dinner for you,” Ethan didn’t even respond as he had found his favorite sports channel.
Geena gave him a disappointed look and got busy with her duties at hand, “Oh. I need coffee,” she muttered under her breath and had to roll her eyes when Ethan spoke without moving his eyes off the screen, “Yeah. Me too.”
Geena narrowed her eyes and then walked to the TV plug and pulled it from the socket, “Here! Now go and make coffee for me, Ethan!”
“Geena!” he tried to protest like a teenager and then found that dangerous glint in her eyes, “What has gotten into you? See! I arranged…” Geena didn’t let him finish.
“Yeah. You arranged this apartment for me and now sitting on your ass, you expect me to make this place livable for myself but also serve you coffee. Right?”
Poor Ethan gulped hard and then got up suddenly, “OK. I think I should leave…” He started wearing his coat which was quickly grabbed by her.

“No! You aren’t! Go make coffee and arrange some sandwiches.”
“Yes, ma’am,” he bent his head a little and placed his jacket on the bed.
Suppressing her smile, Geena got too busy with hanging her dresses in the closet.
She went to the hospital to visit Rafael and Marissa’s daughter but could only meet Marissa. She couldn’t find it in herself to face Rafael. She didn’t know why.
After that hospital visit, she couldn’t go back to meet any of them as she wanted to give more time to the family to settle. Secondly, she didn’t have enough courage.
Rafael Sinclair had made it easy for her when he got his memory back. Nina was now behind bars and all the old cases were reopened against her.
Nina Sinclair tried to contact her too but Geena didn’t plan to hear her voice again. She didn’t want any more financial help from Marissa Sinclair now and needed to work harder to get enough money for the next semester.
Rafael Sinclair might have gotten his memory back but he didn’t know that his sister existed. Sheila was pregnant when she left Rafael.
She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn’t hear Ethan coming inside.
“Here is your coffee and I made some French fries. There was no chicken for the sandwiches.” Geena’s eyes snapped up as she stood up from the bed. She playfully tapped his slightly bulging tummy.
Ethan groaned before placing the tray down on the small table.
“Why don’t you start the gym again,” Geena sat down on the carpet cross-legged and picked a fry from the plate.
“Oh. I’m not a gym person. Some day you should meet my father. You won’t find an extra ounce of meat on his tummy.”
“Umm hmm. He likes going to the gym?”
“Not at all!” Poor him was about to put a fry in his mouth when the doorbell rang. His hand stopped near his mouth asking her silently, do I need to take this?
Geena understood the question and nodded with a mischievous grin.
Rolling his eyes, Ethan got up to open the door. He was back after a minute, “Geena. There is someone who wants to meet you.”
With a frown, she got up with a little ketchup smeared on her mouth. She wished she could scold Ethan for bringing the visitor directly to her room. However, when she saw who it was, her heartbeat almost stopped, “Y-you?” she asked the tall man who was standing there looking around casually.
“Yeah. I’m here to meet you, Geena,” Rafael Sinclair replied.
