Chapter 397: 397- A Brreak
“Will you miss me?” Abi asked Georgie who was slinging his small bag on his shoulders. Marissa had packed a few goodies in his bag as a reminder of his loving triplet friends.
“Don’t worry, Abi,” he lifted himself on his toes to have a better look outside the window, “I’ll come to you once I’m grown up,” he promised her.
Abi nodded with a sad face. Georgie’s dad was here, and she hated him for taking her best friend away.
She quickly went to her mini closet and took out a stuffed toy that was her most favorite one, “Keep it till you meet me, Georgie.”
Georgie held the toy and observed it for a minute, “Are you sure, Abi? This is your beloved one,” Abi shook her head.
“Just don’t forget to come back to me, Georgie,” she pleaded innocently.
“I won’t,” Georgie said shaking her hand.
Marissa stepped inside the room where Abi was still telling Georgie about something, and she could sense how upset Abi was.
“Don’t worry, Abi. I’m sure when we meet next, you’ll be running like Usain Bolt,” he assured her and held her hand.
“Georgie. Your dad is waiting, honey,” Marissa reminded him softly. Her heart went out to that boy who was trying his best to comfort her daughter.
Abi might be putting on a brave façade, but Marissa knew her better.
“Why is he leaving, Mommy? Why can’t he stay with us?” When Georgie went out of the room, Abi asked her mother in a cracked voice.
Marissa kneeled to get to her eye level, “Like us, he also deserves a good family life, sweetheart. Just like you’re happy with your parents he also wants to enjoy his dad’s company.”
Marissa hoped she was right about it. Georgie’s father seemed a reasonable man and explained to them how Delinda had flown away with the child, leaving no trail.
“I had a secretary who was such a good employee of mine, Mrs. Sinclair. Delinda thought I was having an affair with her. She wanted me to fire her, but this secretary was so good in her job that she was almost my right hand and was never interested in women, to be precise,” he told Marissa and Rafael.
For some odd reason, Marissa kept missing Delinda. How she believed so easily that Marissa was a home wrecker.
Nina was responsible for destroying so many lives.
No matter how absurd Delinda was, she was a good mother to Georgie.
“Please let Georgie stay in contact with Abi. They’ve become good friends over the year.”
His father nodded and shook Rafael’s hand with a warm smile. Rafael had lifted Abi in his arms. He was aware of how emotionally vulnerable his daughter was.
He stayed there with his daughter until the car disappeared from sight. Once it turned the corner, he brought her back inside.
“Hey, princess,” he kissed her cheek with affection, “Ready for all the play dates?”
She was recovering at a good pace and her doctors thought that simple physical activities should be introduced gradually into her routine.
They were supposed to start with five- and ten-minute activities and then increase to fifteen minutes every week.
Marissa was very much excited about this new phase in Abigail’s life. The girl who had never known what it felt like to run, or jump was now ready to put on her trainers
Alex and Ariel were equally thrilled about their sister.

“Daddy. I want to jump more,” Abi giggled when her father scooped her up from the trampoline that was placed for the kids in the backyard.
Today was the first day of her physical activity and everyone was looking forward to it. They clapped when she started jumping. Initially, there was fear in her eyes and then when she realized that she didn’t experience any dizziness or heavy breathing, she got bolder.

“Tomorrow, Abi!” Rafael twirled while still holding her and Abi squealed loudly.
He made her sit on a chair and asked a servant to bring her a smoothie without peanut butter.
Thankfully Abi was recovering fast. There were a few tests that showed that she had a teeny tiny puncture in her left lung, but it could easily be mended with the help of meds.
That was the reason she had weak immunity and could easily get flu or asthma.
Her spirits also got better when she received Georgie’s call when he reached his dad’s home. Her father also explained to her that this was a technology era, and she could easily stay in touch with Georgie.

They spent an hour in the backyard celebrating Abigail’s new life with a cake-cutting ceremony and smoothie glasses.
Later as the kids followed their parents inside, they saw Valerie coming out of their grandma’s room.
“Hello there,” she waved at the kids.
None of them knew why they weren’t allowed to talk to their aunt. Marissa and Rafael were still confused about what to tell them about Nina.
Now Valerie’s visits had increased in their house. She could visit her mom whenever she wanted. No matter how much coldness those kids showed her, Valerie never seemed to mind it and waved at them with a friendly smile.
“Hello,” Abi waved back unexpectedly, and that made Valerie go still. Did Abigail just respond to her?
Rafael didn’t want to put any negative thoughts in his daughter’s head, so he decided to talk to Marissa about it.
“Love. Can we move your mother to a nearby facility? A place where she can have the best care?”
Marissa didn’t question her husband. They had already been through a lot. Whatever he was thinking must be for her and her kids’ betterment.
“I’ll ask Dean to help me with this. We can donate a good amount to such a facility, and, in this way, Valerie can visit Mom whenever she wants,” Marissa had a knowing grin on her lips.
After Nina, she didn’t want any kind of trauma for her kids.
Maybe in the future, she might introduce Aunt Valerie to kids. But right now, they all needed a break.
