Chapter 402: 402- People Of Sangua City
Marissa headed to the garden where Rafael was running with Abi in his arms while the rest of the kids were running after him.
“Daddy! This isn’t fair! Run slower!” Ariel protested. Rafael slowed down but didn’t wait to get caught, so he changed his direction towards the swings.
Marissa felt contentment and gratitude while watching her family. She made a silent prayer that her family stayed happy.
She raised her face and felt the warmth of the sunlight against her face. She opened her eyes when she heard Abigail’s uncontrollable laughter in her Daddy’s arms. After her heart, it was her lungs that needed to be healed before she went for any prolonged activity.
They all were shrieking with laughter while chasing their father. Rafael was acting more like a sibling than their father.
After a while, they were finally able to catch Rafael who had started laughing heartily.
“Guys! Come over and eat something,” Marissa got their attention after clapping, standing in the middle of the garden.
They all had snacks and then decided to bring out their paints and sketchbooks. Alex never liked painting or sketching but he loved getting involved with his sisters in their activities.
“You didn’t eat properly,” Marissa pointed out to Alex, and that reminded Rafael of a long-gone memory.
Alexander. Eat properly! How will you help your mum if you keep skipping your meals?
The voice was stern but was filled with love.
Marissa could see a stunned expression crossing his face when the maid brought someone to the garden, “Hello, Marissa. Hello Rafael!”
“Giana!” Rafael got up excitedly and poor Giana thought he would hug her, so she spread her arms. However, she was taken by surprise when he not only lifted her off her feet but also twisted her like she was of Abi or Ariel’s age.
“Rafael! Put me down!” she was horrified and embarrassed too because of the presence of her nephew and nieces.
Marissa had to roll her lips in between her teeth. It seemed like Rafael was being a mischievous brother and wanted to do what he couldn’t do since childhood.
They both stayed without a sibling for the longest time and perhaps Rafael was trying to make it up now.
The kids giggled and gathered around them.
“Oh, God. Your daddy is annoying!” Giana shook her head before coming to hug Marissa. Rafael was grinning ear to ear when he took his seat.
“I enjoy it when you are all flared up,” he picked up a peanut and tossed it in his mouth.
“And I don’t enjoy it at all when you pull such stunts,” she rolled her eyes and made Abi sit on her lap. Though the child was getting bigger, but Giana didn’t mind.
As an aunt her only purpose in life was to spoil them.
“Rafael,” she called her brother a little hesitantly, “There is someone who wants to meet you.”
Rafael who was about to pick up his coffee cup, frowned and looked up, “Who?”
“It’s Ethan. He is here with his father,”

When Rafael and Marissa went to the drawing room, Ethan and his father got up from the couch.
For some reason, Rafael didn’t want to meet Ethan, but this was the least he could do for his sister.
After shaking hands, they all took their seats.
“I think… I owe you some explanation,” Ethan spoke, looking at Rafael. Rafael again wanted to spit something mean but he controlled his tongue.

He tried to remind himself that his wife and sister were also there.
“I don’t think you have any explanation to do. Whatever you shared with Valerie, it doesn’t have any concern with me,” he said in a clipped tone.
“That’s what I learned a few months back. That Valerie isn’t related to you and Nina,”
Everyone gave him a perplexed look, “What do you mean?” Marissa asked him curiously.
Ethan swiped his tongue on his lower lip and tried to smile, “I was here to take revenge on Nina. We lost someone close to our heart due to her. Nina murdered her. Once I was grown up, I came to know about it. The revenge was meant for Nina, not you. I …” he hesitated and then tried to be brave, “I slept with Valerie, thinking that she was your wife and Nina’s daughter-in-law. Later realized that you were innocent and a victim of Nina and Valerie’s manipulation.”
Rafael clenched his jaw when heard about Nina and Val. He somewhat had this idea that she was sleeping at his back, but he never gave a damn about it.
When Ethan didn’t get any response he spoke again, “I thought I was taking revenge from Nina and later I was planning to rub it on her face that see? I tarnished Sinclair’s family name,” he chuckled but it lacked humor, “And then I met Giana…”
Rafael suddenly got up from the sofa, “Why’re you exactly here?”
He didn’t want Nina’s name mentioned in his home. He hated her. Anyone who used to remind him of her couldn’t be welcomed there.
However, Ethan’s response threw him for the loop, “I’m here to apologize, Rafael,” Ethan smirked, “Sorry for telling you this, but while spending time with Valerie, you were never my target. And about your sister…”
He trailed off when noticed Rafael’s clenched jaw but then he had to say it, “I know the feeling, man. I’ve got sisters too. For your information, Geena and I aren’t involved with each other.”
Rafael tilted his head to look at Giana for confirmation who nodded with a soft smile, “He’s right, brother. We are just friends. Nothing is going on between us. He actually helped me in fighting against Nina.”
Marissa wanted to groan at the situation. Why did Giana need to explain her relationship status to Rafael? Like, come on. She was an adult. A grown-up!
“Glad to hear that,” Rafael shrugged with his hands inside his pockets. He was acting super mean to the guests. Marissa decided to take the lead here.
“It’s good to have you, Ethan… along with your father,” Marissa covered the awkwardness with a cute smile, “I’d love to have you people again.”
Ethan had a knowing grin on his face. Marissa turned to his father to say something and was taken aback by the striking looks of the man even at this age.
His chiseled features, his blue eyes, and that silver streak in his neatly combed hair. He must be a heartthrob in his young days.
“Young man,” Ethan’s father spoke for the first time while watching Rafael, “Just stay away from Nina, and I’m sure all will remain good. By the way, I knew your mom. She was a graceful lady.”
Rafael hadn’t seen that coming, “How do you know her? And who are you?”
“Young man,” a charismatic smile crossed his face, “I was the only business competitor your father had. People of Sangua City still remember me by the name of Gabriel.”
