Chapter 404: EPILOGUE II
They all were having a grand dinner at Marissa Sinclair’s newly opened restaurant. The dinner was from Sophie on her first wedding anniversary.
Ariel, Abigail, and Alex were having dinner on a separate table while Jackson was trying his best to slip down Sophie’s lap and crawl on the restaurant floor. Joseph had to give him a lollipop so that he could stay in the baby’s chair.
Marissa couldn’t stop her laughter because Sophie had been quite strict about Jackie’s sugar and salt intake.
“See! As a doctor I can’t even put restrictions on this little devil!” she informed Marissa and rolled her eyes. But Marissa could sense the love behind that complaint.
She turned to look at her three-month-old babies who were lying on the playmat nearby. Marissa and Rafael had to quit carrycot when the babies learned to flip.
Once Caleb fell on the floor with his carrycot at the top. Since then, carry-cots had been donated to the orphanage.
“So, are you planning to bring Jackie’s sibling,” Marissa asked Sophie once they went to the restroom.
Sophie pressed the bridge of her nose, “Oh, my. One is enough. I don’t know how you manage them,” she turned away muttering to herself.
Marissa smiled at that, “Because I had the help of an amazing friend!” She went to Sophie and hugged her, taking her by surprise, “This friend helped me in ways, I could never imagine. Never knew that my first gynecologist appointment would turn into an amazing friendship.”
“Wrong!” Sophie slapped her back, “We already met at a café before you came to me. And if this is an invitation that you’ll help me with kids then I might think of bringing another baby,” Sophie finished with a shrug.
Marissa loved babies. She was willing to take care of ten at a time. She still remembered how Flint stayed awake just to take care of Ariel when Ariel and Abigail fell sick together.
Thinking of Flint brought a sad smile to her face, “I miss him.”
Sophie knew who she was talking about.
Flint passed away one month back in his sleep. His heart stopped working and he couldn’t make it the next morning.
“I miss him too,” Sophie said with a sigh, “I’m glad he got the chance to meet Jackson, Caleb, and Celine,” Marissa nodded at her.
Seeing Sophie upset, Marissa gave a playful punch on the shoulder, “Don’t you dare start crying,” she handed over a napkin to her friend, “Here. Take it. Fix your kohl.”
Sophie accepted it with a chuckle and turned to the mirror to dab her eyes carefully, “Gosh! When did we have a girls’ night last time?”
Marissa thought for a minute and then realized it was a long time back, “Before you got pregnant with Jackie.”
“Uh huh,” Sophie’s shoulders slumped as she let out a groan, “I need some relaxed time. Some me-time.”
“Then stay at my place tonight,” Marissa suggested, holding Sophie’s arms, “It’s been ages. Come over with Jackie if you want. Joseph is welcome too. We can spend the night watching a movie.”
“That seems like a brilliant idea,” Sophie’s face softened. She had willingly taken a career break to take care of Jackie. But now she needed a little time to herself.
When they went to the dining area, Giana had also joined them, “Hello, beautiful mommies.”
She hugged them both. As a Sinclair, she had proved that brains ran in the family.
Marissa had already offered her to head the MSin Industries of the Middle East region. After completing her education, she was planning to accept Marissa’s offer.
Once seated beside Rafael, Marissa covered his hand that was placed on the table, “I’m planning to spend the night with Sophie. I think she needs a break.”
Rafael quickly kissed his wife, “Sure, wifey. Don’t worry about kids. I’ll tuck them.”
***
Tucking kids had become a teamwork now. Triplets had gotten a little older and now had their own bedrooms. The triplets used to help their parents in putting the twins in their cots.
Marissa who had Sophie and Flint for her triplets, now had Rafael and triplets for her twin babies.

For Sinclairs, life was going smooth which used to make Marissa a little tense. Valerie never tried to contact them which was a relief. Still, sometimes she used to feel restless.
“You again have this look on your face. What are you thinking?”
Marissa smirked faintly, the corner of her mouth twitching upwards, “I don’t know,” she waved her hand carelessly, “Sometimes it feels like a dream.”
Sophie got what her friend was saying. Because sometimes she also used to feel the same way.
She placed the TV remote aside and held Marissa’s hand that was placed on her lap. They both were sitting on the bed, dressed in their PJs. Just like old times.
“Stop thinking too much about it, Mar. This is your present. This is what you deserve,” she started pressing the pressure points on her palm to release the stress. But when she saw Marissa fluttering her eyes sleepily, she hit a pillow to her head, “I’m here to watch a movie. Not to sleep with you.”
Marissa plopped back on the pillow and giggled. As the CEO of MSin, she was managing everything well.
Office, kids, her home. Rafael stayed with her like a shadow.
She could never do any of it without his help. He was an equal partner in everything except cooking.
She watched Sophie flipping the channels, searching for a good series or a movie.
“How about a horror movie tonight?” Marissa suggested her with a playful grin and Sophie started laughing until she fell back on the bed.
“Why am I reminded of that night when we planned to watch a spooky movie?” she asked controlling her laughter.
“And that was our first and the last time. We got so scared when little Alex turned in his sleep. Hahaha.”
They both burst into laughter again.
This was what Sophie needed.
Laughter therapy.
