Chapter 405: EPILOGUE III
They selected a horror movie and watched it while having popcorn. A blanket was draped over their legs.
Sophie had to control her laughter when she saw Marissa holding a pillow to her chest. Her eyes were wide like Abigail’s while watching the movie.
Sophie chuckled and tossed popcorn into her mouth, “Oh, come on. You said you could handle it. It’s just a movie. Horror was your idea,” she teased. Her voice was laced with playfulness.
She tried pinching Marissa’s arm, but her friend slapped her hand away. Sophie giggled. She was getting this movie night chance after such a long time that she wasn’t in the mood to let it get ruined.
Marissa gestured at the screen as this eerie music started playing, “There was supposed to be more suspense. But his dead body is there every time in literally every scene. Urgh,” she groaned in annoyance.
“Don’t go in there. Please,” Sophie muttered half to herself and half to the female lead of the movie, her eyes glued to the screen.
“She’s definitely going in there,” Marissa whispered back, her voice laced with dread, “I don’t know what they even think when they make such movies.”
As the dead body again appeared on the screen, both of them screamed at the top of their lungs. Marissa this time buried her face in the pillow while Sophie’s popcorn flew into the air.
Suddenly they both burst into laughter, but then they had to press their palms to their lips to suppress the noise.
The walls were soundproof, but they couldn’t take risks with young children.
“This is ridiculous,” Marissa reached out for spilled popcorn, “Beer?” she asked Sophie when the movie was paused.
“Why are you even asking?” Sophie laid back on the pillow, “Oh, God. My bones!”
She sometimes felt she was way much older than Marissa who could easily move around as a mom of five kids. On the other hand, Sophie felt like Jackie was being a handful.
Marissa who was putting the last popcorn into her mouth, stopped and turned her head to her, “Remember? You once told me every woman is different. Just enjoy your baby, Soph. Everything will fall into place.”
“I know. Now go and get me some beer,” She reminded Marissa who opened the door to go out but then her eyes darted towards the dimly lit living room, “I can’t go in there. You go and get the cans from the kitchen fridge.”
Marissa came back and jumped into the bed.
“Marissa!” Sophie gave her an annoyed look, but Marissa had made up her mind, “I can accompany you. But I’m not going there alone. Nah!”
Sophie rolled her eyes and got up from the bed, “Urgh! Fine!”
After a few minutes, they were back in the room with beer cans and a fresh bowl of popcorn steaming on their laps. They had resumed the movie.

Marissa must have slept soundly for two hours when she felt someone shaking her shoulder a little firmly.
“Umm. Hmm?” she tried to open her eyes sleepily and found the face of Emily, the kids’ nanny standing there with a worried expression on her face.
“Emily?” she got up, rubbing her eyes, and looked sideways at Sophie who had also bolted up in panic.
“Is Jackie alright?” Sophie asked in a panic.
Emily quickly nodded at her question and looked back at Marissa, “You need to come with me quick, Mrs. Sinclair. Abigail isn’t in her bedroom!”
What?
Marissa felt like someone had squeezed life out of her body. She at once tossed away the quilt and tried to stand but had to sit back due to dizziness. Sophie was quick to get to her side, “Careful, Mar!” she then looked at Emily sharply, “Where is Rafael?”
“He is sleeping with the twins, ma’am.”
“Go wake him up. Ask the guards to search the palace!” Marissa didn’t realize that she had started screaming in panic.

When Rafael got up, he also began barking orders, “Look at every corner of the palace. Don’t leave anything. Send some men to the garden. She is too fond of running on the grassy ground,” he held Marissa’s icy cold hand, “we will find her. She must be hiding from us. Don’t worry.”
Even he didn’t sound convinced. After two hours they were informed that she was nowhere in the MSin Palace.
CCTV footage showed that a guard left the palace carrying something wrapped in the blankets.
That’s when they realized that their baby had been kidnapped. Marissa and Rafael knew who might be behind it.
“I won’t spare her!” He roared. His face twisted with murderous fury, his green eyes blazing as though daring anyone to challenge him.
And Marissa?
She thought she had become dead.
“Abi! My baby! Oh, my God! Please no!” With a heart-wrenching scream, her body went limp, and she collapsed to the floor.

“Is it done?” Valerie asked on the phone. The voice on the other end responded to her in a heavy tone.
“Yes, it’s done. The girl was with me, and I’ve already placed her inside a container with several other migrants.”
A satisfied grin appeared on her lips, “Are you sure? I hope she doesn’t start crying or throwing tantrums.”
“Don’t worry. The injected med in her veins will not let her wake up even after three days. She will be delivered to you before the weekend,” he was talking about the kid as if it was not a human but some package.
Valerie hadn’t moved to a different country but to a different continent. This time she didn’t take the risk of doing anything herself. She took help from a guard inside the palace. Soon her favorite girl will be with her, and she could teach a lesson to Marissa and Rafael.
You snatched everything from me. Now it’s my turn.
The stupid woman didn’t know that this time Rafael wasn’t the only man who would look for her crazily.
There was one more man in the world who had promised Abigail, he would return for her when he accepted her stuffed toy.
