Chapter 413: 413- Alaric
Lisa was the one who always gave her hope. Every time she used to give up and Lisa stood there at the end of the tunnel.
Her suggestion made sense. She should think of moving away somewhere she could lead the rest of her life in peace.
But where?
Well! She might discuss it with Lisa or do her own research on the internet.
That day they enjoyed the movie and had popcorn. When they were coming out of the cinema, she was laughing loudly at some silly joke, Lisa had cracked.
“Now dinner is on me,” she announced after the laughter died down.
“Yeah, yeah. Of course. I’m not sparing you,” Lisa threw her arm around her shoulder while scanning the street for a cab.
“You always know how to squeeze a free meal out of me,” she said with a straight face and received a slap on her head. As expected!
“Shut up! The entertainment was on me and food is on you, bitch!” Lisa quipped with a mocked serious tone.
“Urgh!” Aniya groaned, rolling her eyes dramatically, “You made me choke on my popcorn.”
“Awe Awe…” Lisa shot back with a grin, “A near-death experience. I know,” she even waved down a cab, but it sped past them.
“This cab seemed to be in a hurry,” Aniya’s eyes followed the cab, “It’s ok. Let’s try another one.”
“Sometimes I hate weekends,” Lisa expressed her resentment with a pout when she saw the crowd running towards the cab stand, “I wish I had a car. Running after a cab makes my mood sour.”
Aniya tilted her head and looked at Lisa in adoration. She hardly complained.
“Lisa! Lisa! You’re Lisa… right?” They both turned slowly and found a guy standing behind them, “I was sitting two rows behind you in the cinema,” he said with a sheepish grin.
Lisa had a bored look on her face while Aniya was looking at the guy who was staring fondly at her friend.
“Do I even know you?” Lisa asked him with a side smirk, her eyes were still searching for a cab.
“Yeah. You once served me in the restaurant but then I had to travel out of the city to visit my granny. I was planning to go back to the restaurant to meet you.”
Aniya had a dreamy look on her face. She found it all so romantic. The guy might not be super handsome, but he was cute.
“I don’t remember you,” She muttered, lifting her shoulders in a shrug, “Do you own a car?” the same bored voice that matched Lisa’s mood. The boy placed his hands in his pants pockets and shrugged, “No. I have a bike and …” this time he did look at Aniya, “I wish I had one so that I could give you both a ride.”
Lisa rolled her eyes and dragged Aniya with her, “If you don’t have a car, I’m not interested.” Against her expectations, the boy stopped right there. He didn’t try to follow them, but his smiling eyes stayed on Lisa.
While walking away, Aniya kept looking over her shoulder and every time found him standing at the same spot.
“H-He is serious, Lisa!” she told her excitedly, “he is still standing there. How can you not remember him?”
Lisa kept walking and then stopped when she was sure that they were out of sight, “OK. I do remember him!” she crossed her arms on her chest, “he was there with a bunch of elite kids. I tried to lure them for a good tip, and he didn’t take advantage, but still gave me a good tip. Though I knew he wasn’t rich.”
“Uh, oh. He was so cute. How can you resist a boy like him!” Aniya was being emotional and was squeezing Lisa’s hand again and again.
“No car! No love!” Lisa reminded her and at last ran after a cab, “Hey stop! I need a ride!”
Aniya ran after her, “You don’t need a car. You need love!” she called after her.
Without turning, Lisa raised her index finger and wiggled it at her, “I already told you. No car no love.”

Valerie must have been in a good mood when she allowed her to stay overnight at Lisa’s place over the phone.
They stayed up late and slept in. Aniya kept teasing her about the boy and Lisa would often throw a playful punch at her.
Once Aniya thought that Lisa was blushing which was a rare sight.

When Aniya returned home, she was still happy. She made a good decision to leave the house early.
However, stepping inside her house and facing Alaric wasn’t an easy thing.
“See! I allowed you to enjoy yourself. But don’t expect me to be this accommodating,” Valerie’s voice came from her bedroom.
“Thank you, Mom,” she tried to incorporate sweetness into her voice. Lisa was right. There were a few days left till she turned eighteen.
She needed to make her parents believe that she was happily living there and wasn’t thinking about her independent life.
Valerie came out and pointed towards the kitchen, “There are plenty of dishes in the sink. Start from there. Your father didn’t like my cooking last night, so he just left to have a burger to avoid lunch.”
Oh, So Alaric wasn’t home. Thank God. Aniya took a sigh of relief.
She happily cleaned the whole house and baked a vegetable pizza for dinner. She needed to get done with her chores before her father’s return.
Once she went to her room, she happily changed into her PJs and plopped on the bed. She was already planning about her life after her birthday.
“Aniya! Come down,” she closed her eyes in annoyance when heard Valerie’s voice. Before she could respond to that, Alaric’s voice followed her, “She made such a good pizza. Perhaps you should start learning it from our daughter. Wait. Let me go up and thank her personally.”
Aniya’s heart thudded in her chest when she heard heavy footsteps climbing the stairs. Alaric was coming to her room.
