Chapter 419: 419- No Room For A Man
“Aniya! Aniya! Get down right now, young lady!” Valerie wasn’t able to control her rage.
What kind of daughter was she?
For some reason, her dad was in so much pain and she was sleeping in her room. What did she think of herself? A princess?
Alaric tried explaining to her through signs that his tongue got stuck in the small opening of the beer can but that didn’t sit well with Valerie.
“Fine! If she isn’t coming down then I guess I should pay a visit to her,” she climbed the stairs to get to Aniya’s room despite Alaric trying to stop her.
“Young lady!” Valerie opened the bedroom door with a thud and stopped right there. Aniya wasn’t in the room. The room was spotless as if she didn’t even come here at all.
Valerie took out her phone from her pants pocket and dialed her number, “If you’re with Lisa then I’m done with you, Aniya,” she muttered and heard Aniya’s phone ringing from a distance.
With several lines on her forehead, she listened carefully. The ringtone sound was coming from downstairs.
Valerie followed the sound and found Aniya’s phone in the kitchen.
Where was Aniya? And why did she forget her phone here?
So, she cleaned the kitchen, did the dishes, and left her phone on the counter before going out of the house?
Nah! Something wasn’t adding up here.
What if she injured Alaric? Valerie quickly shook the thought away. Aniya could never have enough courage to harm her father. And how on earth could she have hurt his tongue?

Alaric didn’t want to visit the doctor, but Valerie didn’t listen to his excuses. No matter how abusive he was, she couldn’t ditch him just like that.
Even the doctor groaned when saw the condition of his tongue, “Uh, oh. What have we got here?”
“He told me that it got stuck in the beer can,” she told the doctor with an uncertain smile. Alaric wasn’t even trying to communicate with the doctor.
“It’s pretty bad,” The doctor remarked after checking his mouth, “I’m giving you an ointment. Apply it there. He is only allowed to eat soft food. And …” he tossed the small flashlight aside, “no alcohol till you recover.”
Alaric made a face and Valerie had to suppress her grin. Alaric didn’t drink alcohol. He breathed it like oxygen.
However, that smile was short-lived when the doctor made the joke, “It seems like you got pretty excited with your husband and chewed his tongue.”
Valerie who was standing up, watched Alaric closely. He hadn’t tried to speak anything and now she could see other signs as well.
There were nail marks on his face and no wonder that the doctor suspected that they made wild, passionate love.
Sitting in the backseat of the cab, on their way back, Valerie stayed quiet.
After paying the cab driver, Valerie didn’t walk to the house and stood there on the sidewalk waiting for the cab to drive off.
Alaric was waiting for her to unlock the door and didn’t notice the change in her demeanor. Valerie slowly turned to him; her hand shot into the air and struck his cheek with full force.
Holding his cheek, Alaric looked at his wife with disbelief evident in his eyes.

“Aniya James. Seems like you’re surrounded by all the toxic men,” Lisa told her the next day while having breakfast. Thankfully Aniya was feeling much better now.
Her diamond ring was now lying near the pillow. She had taken it off at the very moment when they noticed it.

Aniya poured some milk into her bowl over her cereal. Lisa was convincing her to take an off from the job but now Aniya couldn’t afford to do that.
She needed money so that she could look for those faces which sometimes haunted her in her dreams.
Or was it someone from her previous life and now this was the life after her rebirth?
After having breakfast, she started doing dishes and thought of cleaning the apartment too. Compared to her, Lisa was a messy person, but Aniya didn’t mind cleaning after her.
“I need to move to Sangua and spend some time there. If I won’t find a clue, then I might move to Kanderton.”
Lisa nodded at her loud thinking.
“I …” Aniya hesitated a bit, “I wish we could go together. Like…” she pursed her lips, “I don’t know what I’ll do without you.”
Lisa had a faint smile when she ruffled her hair before placing the dirty coffee cup in the sink, “Don’t worry. I might accompany you. Or might join you later, kiddo. Who knows?” she shrugged.
Aniya thought she heard her wrong, “What? Really?”
When Lisa nodded her head, Aniya almost jumped to hug her, with those soapy hands, “Oh, Lisa. I love you.”
“I love you too. Now make it quick so that we can go for some grocery shopping before my shift starts.”
Aniya happily washed all the dishes and then cleaned her rusted sink too. When the doorbell rang, she thought it was Liam.
“I would love to know more about him,” Aniya told herself and tensed when heard the door opening.
Low whispers were coming from outside.
“Lisa! Who is this?” she wiped her hands with the cloth and turned to find Valerie standing there behind her.
Aniya didn’t know how to react, “M-Mom!” She whispered.
Valerie closed the distance between them and hugged her tight, “Oh, my baby. I’m so sorry.” She was shaking against her while crying.
Aniya gave a questioning look to Lisa who just shrugged in confusion.
“I know,” Valerie said in a teary voice, “I know what he did to you,” she stepped back and wiped her face, “I’ve kicked him out of the house and now he isn’t coming back,” she tucked Aniya’s hair behind her ear, “Let’s go home, sweetheart,” she said softly, “That house belongs to us. And there is no room for a man who did this to my baby girl,” She hugged her again.
Aniya’s eyes lifted to Lisa who was shaking her head. Her friend didn’t want her to go back to that house.
