Chapter 426: 426- Dorian Maxwell
Aniya was too stunned to respond. The girl was already setting up, unpacking her brushes, palettes, and curling irons.
“Wow! Look at your dress!” she said chirpily and gave Aniya an approving look, “I think I should go for a soft and elegant look. If you have any preferences, let me know.”
Aniya didn’t have any preferences right now. She was just going with the flow, looking for a chance to contact Lisa.
“I’m sure, you will look like a princess,” the girl kept speaking without realizing that the bride-to-be, was too quiet.
Aniya was standing there, gripping a chair, “Uh… D-Do you have a ph-phone?” her eyes were traveling to the door repeatedly.
The thought that Valerie might step inside the room was quite torturous.
“Phone?” the girl asked her casually, adjusting the chair, “Your mom already took it from me,” she motioned Aniya to sit, “She wanted everything to be perfect for your big day.”
Big day?
The words made Aniya’s stomach churned. She reluctantly sat down with a racing heart, “Can you do me a favor? A secret task?”
The way she said it, the salon girl paused for a moment to take a closer look at Aniya, “Oh, God! What is it? Your mom already warned me that you might ask me for some weird favor.”
Shaking her head she started prepping Aniya’s face for the makeup.
Aniya didn’t want to give up.
“A frog keeps trying even if it falls into the boiling water,” Lisa’s words struck her like a punch to the gut.
Wasn’t she better than a frog?
Wasn’t this her only chance to get away from all this madness?
How Lisa kept convincing her and silly her didn’t trust her friend. Because her so-called mother had started showering her with love.
“If I give you a number, can you call her once you get back your phone?” she asked the girl who had started working on her face. A brush was grabbed between her lips.
“Umm hmm,”
Aniya didn’t know what that umm hmm meant. What worse could Valerie and Alaric do, aside from killing her?
She leaned ahead to pick up a marker from the table, “Hey!” the girl got annoyed, “Stop moving otherwise you will look like a clown.”
“Well!” Aniya ignored the girl’s irritation, “My life is already a circus, love.”
She held the girl’s arm and rolled up her sleeve, “Here!” she jotted down Lisa’s phone number there and then moved back the sleeve. She didn’t write it in her palm because she now knew Valerie better. The arm was a safer option, “Just ask my friend to attend my wedding in the church. My mom doesn’t like her, and my only friend won’t be there at my wedding… can you imagine that?”
Aniya explained her hurriedly and then tossed the pen back onto the table, “Just tell her that she needs to attend to it otherwise the frog will give up.”
The girl thought that the bride must be out of her mind but chose not to remark.
Her job was to do her makeover and leave with the heavy cash she was promised. The good thing about this appointment was the bride’s mom was ready to pay the demanded money.
The poor mother was right. Her daughter did look crazy.
But she was so beautiful and so innocent.

Holding her dress when Aniya got down the stairs, she found Valerie standing there along with Alaric.

Aniya didn’t feel any hatred for the man or the woman. Now everything was as clear as the day.
They might be her adoptive parents, but they were the worst human beings lacking any ethics or morals.
“You look beautiful, Aniya,” Valerie moved forward to kiss her cheek but Aniya raised her hand to stop her, “I know how I look. Let’s go to the church and get done with it.”
Alaric chuckled and turned to Valerie, “I thought she would try to use the little window in her bedroom, but she didn’t make any such attempt. Maybe she loves money more than us.”
Aniya didn’t remark. In all honesty, the thought did cross her mind. But these cunning people would have caught her anyway.
Plus, it was risky to jump from that height.
No.
Even if she would get married to that unknown man, she would never stop from fighting for her freedom.
“I think we should leave, darling!” Valerie fixed her husband’s bow who leaned forward to kiss her red-painted lips, “From now on we won’t be the same poor pathetic people.”
Aniya wanted to laugh. She wanted to tell them that no matter how rich they would get, they would always be pathetic.
“You are right,” he straightened, “Mr. Dorian Maxwell must be waiting for us,” he then turned to her, “Do you know your husband’s name? It’s Dorian Maxwell.”
Aniya wasn’t interested in any Maxwell.
She was praying hard that the salon girl would make a call to Lisa. Keeping her fingers crossed, she followed her parents outside the house.
A black Regalia was parked outside, and Aniya was sure that Mr. Dorian Maxwell must have sent it.
Nobody talked in the car, but Aniya could feel her parents’ excitement. After a ten-minute drive, the car halted, and Aniya stepped out of the car.
Standing in front of the church, she thought that now she had lost her chance to run away. It was too late now.
She didn’t know who this Dorian was.
But now she wanted to get out of here. She was so deep in her thoughts that she didn’t realize when a car stopped near her.
She tilted her head and was surprised to find that creepy restaurant guy walking towards her with a smirk.
What was he doing here?
“Hello, Aniya,” he waved, “See! Didn’t I tell you that we would meet again?”
How would I know what you said, jerk? I was busy puking.
And then something crossed her mind, and her face snapped up to look at him. He was Mr. Dorian.
He was the one who slid the engagement ring on her finger and then paid her parents to marry her.
“As*shole!” She muttered under her breath.
