Chapter 430: 430- Would Break The Rules

“Are we done with the hiring process yet?” George asked his PA who was getting the checks signed by him.

She was a beautiful brunette who was thought to be the luckiest in the Star Corps because she used to be closest to him.

Paige Fletcher was beautiful, intelligent, and everything a man could desire. All her life she had been off limits. But since the day she had joined Star Corps as his PA, her world had changed.

Every morning waking up and coming to work was becoming more enjoyable with each passing day.

“Miss Paige Fletcher. I’m asking you something,”

Poor Paige jumped a little when was caught off guard by her boss’s voice. Her boss was still busy signing the checks while she was busy staring at his chiseled profile.

“Yes, sir,” an embarrassed chuckle escaped her lips as she looked at her tab to check the details, “Almost ninety-five percent of them are done, sir. Mr. Edward is taking care of it.”

“Hmm,” he sighed the last check and then slid the folder across the table, “What about workers’ salaries? Is it resolved?”

Paige nodded and showed her the first page of the folder, “It’s cleared now. They were given the salaries as promised.”

“Good!” he gave an approving nod in her direction, “Ask the finance department to get ready for the meeting after lunch. We need to discuss a few pointers with them including our next term’s strategy.”

“Sure, Sir,” Paige collected the files from the desk and turned to leave. Every time she used to look at her boss, her heart rate used to accelerate. But she couldn’t tell him that.

He could be brutal when he wanted to, without realizing if it was a man or a woman. If it was George Donovan, then one needed to be alert around him.

He was not a man one could mess with. By now almost all his staff knew that he didn’t mix business with pleasure.

Balancing the files in one arm, she opened the door and was about to step out when she bumped into someone and had to hold her nose due to the impact.

“Ouch!” her eyes watered and she squeezed them shut, trying to shake off the pain in her nose bridge. The person who she bumped into was also holding her face.

“Oh, I’m so sorry. I guess, surprising him went wrong,” she held Paige’s face to soothe her though her own chin was burning due to Paige’s pointed nose.

“What’s going on?” George stood up and walked towards the door where the two girls were trying to shake off the dizziness making stars dance in their heads.

“Ariel!” he exclaimed, “What are you doing here?”

Paige widened her eyes when she sensed George’s presence behind her.

Such an embarrassing situation! Because of this clumsy woman. She thought to herself. However, she was in for a surprise when the girl whose name was Ariel walked up to him and was engulfed in a tight hug.

“I was here to surprise you, Georgie,” her muffled voice came from his chest and Paige felt jealous. She was a beautiful blonde and Mr. George Donovan had such gentleness while holding her.

“Ms. Paige. Are you alright?” he asked his PA and Paige felt like it was a hidden warning to get lost and mind her own business.

“Ye…yeah… I’m… I’m good,” she quickly left the office and started rubbing the tip of her nose again.

Urgh. This Ariel girl has a strong chin!

“When did you arrive?” George brought her to the other seat across him, “How is your university going?” he offered her water and stood there, leaning his hip against the edge of the desk.

While drinking water Ariel raised her blue eyes at the tall man who was now running the Star Corps, “I was here to surprise you, Georgie. Straight from the airport,” after drinking water she was able to speak again, “Damn. Your PA is beautiful.”

“Ariel!” there was a subtle warning in his tone, but she was Ariel who was bold enough to express whatever was on her mind.

Without any filter.

“What! It’s a fact. She is beautiful. You’re handsome! Great couple!” she gave a playful punch on his thigh, “And your babies will be so beautiful, and if you two ever got twins…”

“Whoa, whoa… lady… Stop right there!” he tapped on her head and straightened to get back to his seat.

“One more minute and you will be bringing my grandkids into this world. Grow up, Ariel,” he said the last part gently with a soft smile.

Anyone could see fondness in his eyes.

“Fine!” She yawned loudly, “Get me a cup of coffee. I’m still jetlagged from all the traveling.”

“Coffee,” he frowned at her, “You need a good sleep. Go home and get that. You’re welcome to stay at my place too in case you feel lonely.”

Ariel waved her hand, “No,” she tried to suppress a yawn, “I’m not lonely. Mom and Dad are also here.”

“Really? Marisa and Rafael are here? Marissa didn’t tell me that.”

“Maybe because Mom wanted to surprise you, but I also wanted to surprise you so…” she shrugged with a wink, and this time, George threw back his head and roared with laughter.

“Come on,” he got up and picked up his car keys, “Let’s surprise them together.”

He offered her, his hand and she held it to get up, “My knees have turned into jelly,” she complained.

“Yeah. I understand. But sorry. Can’t carry you here in my office!” he said with a straight face. She poked her elbow in his ribs, “Why? Miss Cute PA will mind? Huh! There is something going on…”

She laughed when he rolled his eyes, “Nothing is going on. I’m not breaking office rules for anyone.”

“And I have got a feeling,” she stopped near the door and looked at him, “You will break your rules for her.”

Ignoring her remark, George held the door for her and closed it behind them. Neither of them felt Ms. Paige’s eyes on their backs.

Nor did they know that Aniya James had just landed in Sangua City.

One more thing they didn’t know was that George would break the rules for someone and that won’t be Paige Fletcher.
