Chapter 441: 441- Who Was She?
“Then go ahead,” she murmured, “Kiss me!”
She kept her eyes glued to his face with undivided attention. Despite her permission, he still looked uncertain, “Ar…are you sure?”
Aniya shrugged and shook her head, “No. I’m not. Will it be a meaningful one?”
With a frown, he scrunched up his face, “Meaningful?”
“Yeah,” Without warning, she started playing with his collar button, “Something that goes deep. Not… just a skin-to-skin touch.”
Aniya didn’t know what rubbish she was uttering, but something inside her made her feel that he might understand her.
She could feel his gaze piercing into her.
“Ok. Then have dinner with me!” Out of nowhere, he made the offer that shocked her.
“Dinner with you?” she blurted out in disbelief.
“Why? Any problem?”
“N…No… but what if someone sees us?” he didn’t seem to expect it. Maybe because the girls of Sangua wanted to be seen with him, and she was the first who wanted the opposite.
“Fine!” he shrugged and held her hands, “Then have dinner at my place.”
Aniya’s eyes darted back to his face, “Your place?”
“Yeah. I promise I’ll be a gentleman,” he said solemnly, locking eyes with her and all Aniya wanted to do was stand there, “We will leave together in the evening and …”
He stopped mid-sentence when she pulled her hands away, “N…No… we are not leaving together.”
“Oh, yeah. We can’t be seen together! I know…” he rolled his eyes and that made her smile with a nod.
“Exactly!” placing her hands in her uniform pockets she looked around, “I know where you live. I’ll be there in the evening.”
George nodded and looked around awkwardly, “So, about our coffee…” he pursed his lips.
“No need for coffee when we’re having dinner,” she said with a smile and stepped back. She needed to get out of his office.

“You look happy!” Olivia remarked when she saw her humming while wiping the door handles with the wipes.
“I agree,” Emma tossed her washcloth on the floor, “And you are glowing too. Did that Paige Fletcher give you some beauty potion? You were supposed to serve the guests.”
Olivia came to stand right next to her, “Or maybe one of the guests asked you on a date,” she wiggled her brows in mischief.
Aniya rolled her eyes and couldn’t control the giggle. For her friends, it was a rare sight, “Anaya Jakes. What’s going on? Is it really about a guy?”
Emma also joined them and draped her arm on Olivia’s shoulder, “OMG! It IS about a guy!” she watched as Aniya’s cheeks turned crimson, “Our friend has a crush on some guy!”
“Or maybe…” Olivia looked at her face closely, “He has a crush on her. Woo hoo!”
“Girls!” Mrs. Eileen called as she stepped through the door, “Get done with it. The meeting is about to start.”
Aniya silently thanked Mrs. Eileen for barging in on time and placed the wipes pack on a small cart that carried cleaning supplies.
While coming out she found Paige talking to some of the clients, however, when their eyes met, she gave her a mean look.

Oh, damn. How could Aniya forget the insult Paige had to bear in front of a mere maid? She was sure that Paige wouldn’t let it go.
And she was damn right.

“What do you mean? You aren’t going to the hostel?” Olivia asked her while taking off her apron.
Aniya shook her head. She didn’t want to tell them where she was going but she needed to be partially honest with them.
“Listen, Anaya,” Olivia placed her hand on her shoulder with a somber expression, “I saw the way Paige was staring at you this afternoon. While you don’t have a mean bone in you. Don’t let anyone take advantage of you, whether it’s a guy or a girl.”
Aniya swallowed hard. That’s what Lisa used to tell her. She wished her friend was here.

“I’m here to see George Donovan,” Aniya told the receptionist of this high-end building who was a middle-aged man, wearing a suit.
“Can I see your ID?” he clicked a few keys on his laptop, “Anaya Jakes?”
Aniya nodded at him while looking around. It was a posh apartment building with strict security. The receptionist motioned a man to take Aniya to the penthouse.
When the elevator doors opened, the man signaled her to step out. She did as she was asked and turned when the elevator doors closed behind her.
Gosh. George did show her the building, but she didn’t know it was this luxurious. She felt underdressed.
Too late Aniya!
“Welcome, Anaya,” the deep voice made her jump and spun around in fright.
He threw up his hands in the air, “I’m… I’m sorry…I didn’t mean to scare you,” he told her softly taking small steps towards her.
Aniya chuckled and pulled the lapels of her coat tighter around her chest, “You…” she gestured towards the living room, “You have got a beautiful place … umm top-notch…”
He bent his head a little and held her hand, “Please come and let me take your coat,” she took it off and let him hang on a stand near the elevator.
“Wine?” he asked her and frowned when she shrugged a little.
“I don’t know… I’ve hardly tasted any,” he silently went to the bar and fetched something for her.
“Here. A fruit punch with a little mix of alcohol,” he offered her the glass. Taking it from his hand, Aniya looked back and then sat down on the couch. It was so fluffy under her ass that the liquid in her glass shook a little spilling on her skirt.
Thank God the sofa is safe. She thought to herself.
Holding another glass, he sat down across her, “So. How was your day?” he asked her with that friendly smile while Aniya’s eyes were trying hard not to look at the t-shirt that was tight around his chest.
“It was good,” she took a sip and then eyed her glass, “This is good, Mr. Donovan.”
“George!” he said in a clipped tone.
“Hmm?”
“It’s George, Anaya,” he reminded her, not wanting to admit that every time she said his name, he felt a shiver down his spine.
How could this simple girl hold this much power over him?
Who was she?
