Chapter 464: 464- Real Drama
The lunch at Brander’s went well where Ariel was the one who did most of the talking.
George had been buried in work lately. Not only in work but in Anaya Jakes too, barely managing to make time for his childhood friend, but now, she was filling that space by talking about her friends and university.
Her voice bubbled up with excitement, every time she used to mention this specific handsome professor.
“You’re quite popular among my friends. They think you have turned colder, more ruthless… You talk less… you smile rarely,” she told him, swirling the last sip of wine in her glass before taking a slow sip.
His tall frame was leaning back in his chair, all relaxed, staring at her lazily while holding a glass of wine in one hand. He studied her with an amused expression.
She wasn’t wrong, he had changed over the years. His close ones could feel how mature he had gotten. The edge of quiet authority hadn’t been there before.
“Don’t tell me that I still have to play your pretend boyfriend like you once made me do in school!” he gave a subtle shake to his head and Ariel burst into laughter.
“You still remember that? Oh, God! How my friends were shocked when you showed up at my school and impressed everyone including Angela. That was priceless! Ha-ha.”
“How can I forget?” he exhaled a small laugh, “I still remember how Alex was fuming,” he raised his shoulder, “he thought we were serious. In fact, he is still sure that we’re involved.”
“Exactly. That’s why I keep telling everyone you’re my boyfriend,” she giggled, teasing him.
“Yeah. Keep tarnishing my reputation,” he muttered dryly.
Ariel was still laughing when he was paying the bill, “I miss your company, G!” she held his hand from across the table.
“I miss you too, girl!” he squeezed her hand in return, “I’m lucky to have a true friend like you in my life,” he told her softly.
“Ahan!” she leaned forward and placed her palms on the table, “How about you tell me about this lucky girl then?” she said after shutting one eye, “The one who is going on a date with you. She is lucky!”
“No! I’m lucky!” he spoke before he could stop himself.

George couldn’t wait to meet Anaya. This evening when Ariel left, after having a good time with him, he excitedly returned to his apartment to get ready.
Tonight, he was planning to tell Anaya about his feelings. Now he was clear that she was the one for him.
Fu*ck with all the societal pressure to date or marry in the same class status. He wouldn’t let any silly thing come between them.
Abigail Sinclair was his past and Anaya Jakes was his present. Thinking of Abigail made him sad. The small stuffed toy was still sitting there in his bedroom and the bronze warrior that Anaya gifted him last night was just beside that teddy bear.
Anaya Jakes was funny, compassionate and…
And wild in bed! He thought with a smirk.
When he stepped out of the bathroom, towel drying his hair, his phone buzzed. He rushed to attend the call.
It was Paige.
What’s the need to call me when I was clear about my instructions?
“Sir. There is a meeting scheduled that requires your presence,” she informed him.
His brows furrowed, “What meeting? Didn’t I ask you to cancel it, Ms. Fletcher?”
Her confused voice came through the speaker, “Yes, sir. I just thought… maybe your lunch date would be over, so you might want to come after that.”
What the…
He couldn’t believe what he was hearing, “Ms. Fletcher! Are you nuts? Since when I asked you to make decisions on my behalf?” he was trying his best to keep his temper under control.

“Sir. You once told me that Gawors are our biggest customers, and you can’t afford to lose them. So, I thought…”
“So, you thought?” he didn’t let her finish, “Cancel the damn meeting, Ms. Fletcher. Now!” he roared into the phone and tossed it aside.
His chest was burning with rage. He needed to have a long talk with this woman because he had a strong suspicion that she was bullying Anaya.
If he wanted a future with Anaya, then he needed to tackle all the people who could give her a tough time.
She deserved the respect of everyone around her.
“God! I need to improve my mood,” he dialed Anaya’s number. He was certain that talking to her would lift his mood.
However, he frowned when he got the recorded message that her phone was switched off.
“Why her phone is off?” he dialed her number again and got the same message.
Should I call Mrs. Eileen? No!
He shook his head in disappointment. Anaya won’t like it. She wanted to keep everything a secret.
But not too long! He thought with a gentle smile.
Once you’re mine, I’ll announce to the whole fu*cking world what you are to me, little dove.

I know why you are so irritated because of this meeting, George. Is it because of your dinner plan with Anaya Jakes? Does she matter to you that much?
Paige canceled the meeting on the call and smashed the receiver on the cradle.
“Ms. Fletcher. Should I bring you some coffee?” a nearby maid who was spraying the window blinds, asked her.
“Coffee?” Paige asked absentmindedly.
“Yeah. Or anything else you want?” she offered Paige with a friendly smile.
Please bring me, George Donovan. She thought with a pout.
Well! If George thought that Anaya Jakes would come on this dinner date, then he was mistaken. Paige knew that kind better than anyone.
Anaya was someone who loved to be a people pleaser. She would never attempt to become a home wrecker.
After hearing the rumors that Ariel Sinclair was his girlfriend’s slash fiancée, Anaya would step back.
And now the real drama would begin, and Paige couldn’t wait to enjoy the show.
“Time to grab some popcorn, I guess,” she muttered under her breath.
