Chapter 467: 467- Four Days!
Anaya felt a sharp, uncomfortable light piercing through her closed eyelids, as if…
As if someone was shining a flashlight directly at her?
Urgh. What’s happening? Who is this?
She wanted to block this light that was giving her a headache. She instinctively tried to move her arm to block it, but it felt heavy.
She wasn’t able to move it as if it was made of rock.
“Uh!” A groan escaped her lips as she tried to move it again, and this time she felt like her body was made of lead. She swiped her tongue over her parched lips.
“W-water…” she muttered faintly, her voice barely above a whisper. She tried opening her eyes and then blinked several times when the vision wasn’t clear.
Everything around her seemed like a blur.
Slowly, things began to come to focus. She was lying in the bed, and a familiar sterile smell was filling her nostrils.
Her gaze fell on someone sitting close to her on a chair. Someone familiar.
George?
He was slouched in the chair, asleep, his hand was holding her hand tightly. That was why she couldn’t move it.
“G-George?” she tried to speak, but no sound came out of her mouth.
What is he doing here? Where am I?
Her voice cracked when she tried to speak again, “Geor… George…”
George suddenly jerked awake. His bleary eyes blinked rapidly as he tried to make sure that she was awake.
“Anaya?” he whispered and rubbed his eyes in disbelief, “You’re awake?” a small smile cracked on his lips, “Thank God!” he quickly got up and kissed her forehead, “Did Star Corps make you so tired that you slept so long?”
She felt the dampness in his eyes in his eyes but didn’t say anything instead she chose to divert her attention. However, she did notice his disheveled hair and the rough stubble covering his jaw.
Her mind was still foggy as she scanned the room. It looked like a luxurious hotel suite that she had often watched in movies.
“W-why?” she mumbled, her throat was still dry.
“Hmm?” George leaned closer in confusion.
“Why am I in a hotel suite?” she asked him in a shaky voice.
“Hotel?” George let out a small laugh, shaking his head, “No, silly. You’re in a hospital. It’s the suite of a private hospital.”

“Ms. Anaya. Welcome back,” a doctor stepped closer for her checkup, “How are you feeling?”
Anaya tried to speak but her throat still felt dry, so she just gave a faint nod to her head.
One of the nurses was adjusting the IV line while another one was checking her pulse.
“Take a deep breath for me,” the doctor said, placing a stethoscope on her chest.
She inhaled and then exhaled slowly.
This entire time she was very much conscious of the man’s piercing eyes who was standing nearby.

He hadn’t moved from his spot since she woke up.
“Her vitals look stable,” she snapped back from her thoughts when heard the doctor telling George, “She needs plenty of rest and then she’ll be fine,” he pulled the stethoscope and handed it over to the nurse, “It’s a miracle that you’re alive, Ms. Jakes. Your condition was quite critical when they brought you here.”
George exhaled a breath that he seemed to be holding, “She scared the shit out of all of us!” he muttered to no one in particular while his eyes were still glued to Anaya.
She kept staring at the ceiling, offering no response.
Come on. You can do it! He isn’t yours! He belongs to your sister, Anaya.
She kept reminding herself. Before passing out, she remembered how she felt this intense pain in her head. But now the biggest relief was, that the pain was still there but only in her heart.
And that was almost impossible to treat.
I’m sorry, George. Your feelings might be genuine for me, but I can’t do it to my sister. I might be raised by Valerie, but I will never be a home wrecker like her.
“Your friends are waiting for you outside,” George told her softly, “they can’t wait to see you.”
Even now, she remained silent.
George hesitated, sensing that something was extremely wrong. She seemed off.
He walked to the bed and leaned a little to kiss her cheek when she quickly turned her face away. George Donovan went still.
Did she…
Did she just avoid his touch?
This was not the time to talk about this.
With a sigh he stepped back, “I’ll give you some time with them.”
As soon as he left, the door burst open, and Olivia and Emma rushed inside.
“You scared the shit out of us, you bitch!” Olivia grabbed her hand tightly, “We almost freaked out when we found you on the floor.”
“Yeah,” Emma chimed in, “If you were tensed about something you should have come to us. We thought we were your friends,” she was shaking her head in disappointment.
Aniya was silently listening to them and once again she started missing Lisa. She chewed her lower lip and closed her eyes.
The good thing was, that she no longer felt like crying. There were no tears left in her.
“Anaya,” she heard Olivia’s voice, “Please share whatever is on your mind that’s disturbing your peace. Do you know how Mr. Donovan was worried about you,” her eyes softened a little when Olive told her about their boss.
But Aniya didn’t let anything show. She stayed like a statue, trying to appear as though she did not understand whatever they were saying. Or maybe she should try to divert their attention.
“You two should go home,” she said in a weak voice, “It’s not easy to stay overnight in a hospital. You two must be on your toes since last night,” she felt sleepy and tried to suppress her yawn however her eyes were wide open when she heard her friends giggling.
“You weren’t admitted here last night, you idiot,” she heard Emma’s amused voice.
“Yeah,” Olivia said with a nod and rolled her eyes, “You’ve been sleeping here for four days, Anaya!”
