Chapter 468: 468- Out Of Her Life
The hospital kept Aniya for three more days but she didn’t give much chance to George to talk to her.
Most of the time she used to be occupied with doctors or nurses who were not only there to give her meds and thorough check-ups on time, but they also provided her with a mental health professional who visited her to evaluate her every day.
Aniya wasn’t comfortable with it. She wasn’t liking this extra care. She knew George was looking after the expenses and that was something she couldn’t stand.
After office hours, Olivia and Emma would stay with her. But every day, there was a time when she ended up alone in the room with George.
Of course, she couldn’t avoid it forever. But at the hospital, she used to pretend as if she was too sleepy in his presence due to the meds.
He had probably realized by now, that she didn’t want to talk to him about it. But he stayed there with her. Either just outside the room or right by her side in the room… adjusting the pillow behind her, changing the elevation of the hospital bed whenever he noticed that her body was stiff.
Aniya wanted to run away from the room. She wished she could ask him to get the hell out of her life and let her live in peace.
“What’re you thinking?” Olivia who was placing the bouquet on the side table, watched her face, “You need to talk to someone, Anaya. Anyone! If it’s not me then maybe try talking to our boss…” Aniya raised her brows in surprise, but Olivia hardly noticed it, “You can also talk to the hospital psychologist.”
Aniya didn’t remark. All she wanted was some alone time to think clearly. She needed to do something meaningful in her life. Of course, Star Corps wasn’t the only good company for the job. The world was full of good employers.
Staying in Star Corps was a bad idea. Staying close to George Donovan was a mistake.
“Anaya!” Olivia sat on the edge of the bed and tapped her shoulder, “Is … it… about…” she stopped, trying to overcome her hesitancy, “Is it about your hot boyfriend?”
Aniya’s eyes shifted to her lap; she didn’t want to face such questions. But she couldn’t tell that to Olivia.
“Aniya!” Olivia snapped her fingers in front of her face, “You alright? Your face is getting pale. Should I…”
“My boyfriend is committed to someone!” Aniya cut her in midsentence, “He is engaged to someone else… and I think they are pretty involved.”
Aniya rolled her lips between her teeth, to stop herself from crying, “I…” she again clamped her lips together but then she needed to get it off her chest, “I was about to be a home wrecker, Olive,” she whispered, “Thank God, I didn’t,” she giggled but there was no humor in it.
Olivia closed her eyes and when she opened them, her eyes were misty, “That’s why I was afraid that you might end up with heartbreak,” she held Aniya’s cold hand, “You are such a kind-hearted person. Emma and I had our doubts that the guy might take your advantage.”
Aniya sighed and leaned back more into the pillows. She was already feeling tired.
“Oh, Anaya. I’m so sorry,” Olivia moved ahead and hugged her friend. With a small smile, Aniya patted her back and drew herself.
“Don’t be,” she chuckled, “I’m over it, I think…”
It’s just that his presence here makes it very hard.
When there was a knock at the door, Olivia turned, expecting a doctor or a nurse. However, she was surprised when found George Donovan standing in the doorway.
“Do you need anything? Should I bring you something?” he was asking Anaya and Olivia’s eyes darted between the two.
Maybe Emma was right. They should also get admitted to the hospital. Ever since Anaya fainted, all of them were looking at a new side of their boss.
What if the guy who hurt her is George Donovan? Olivia thought silently but then rolled her eyes in her head.
This is next to impossible. George Donovan might be a caring man, but he is way out of our league.
“Nah!” she shook her head, “Not possible.”

This was her last night at the hospital and as usual, George was there in the room. A nurse was explaining to him about the dos and don’ts after she got discharged from the hospital.
“She shouldn’t take any stress and for that, it’s best if she starts doing yoga. Ask her to share whatever is worrying her with any of the loved ones around her or book a counseling session with one of our specialists.”
While listening to her, George’s eyes remained fixed on the girl who, as always, was trying her best to appear asleep.

“I know you aren’t sleeping, Anaya. So, stop pretending,” Aniya heard him say, along with the noise of the chair dragging closer to her bed, the moment the nurse left the room.
She laid still, holding her breath, “Anaya,” she felt him holding her hand, “Don’t you think we should talk?” he asked her gently, but she didn’t move.
Just one more night and then I’ll be out of here, away from him.
“Anaya!” her heart skipped a beat when she felt his warm breath close to her cheek, “Are you mad at me? Did I do something you didn’t like?” he asked her in concern.
Aniya wanted to open her eyes and hug him. Just one last time.
But then Ariel’s face flashed in her mind.
“Anaya!” he rested his forehead against her cheek, “Please speak,” he sounded as if he was afraid of something, “I can’t live without you.”
Aniya thought she heard him wrong.
Can’t live without me? Why? What will he do about Ariel?
Will he break her heart? No!
She was trying hard to hold back her tears.
No, Aniya. Get a grip! If you let a tear droplet slip out, all hell will break loose. You don’t need further chaos in your life.
“Anaya!”
“For God’s sake, George!” she said sharply without opening her eyes, “I need to sleep, or my head might explode with this headache.”
He didn’t give any response to her rude tone, but the words hit him deep, “Yeah. Sure, take rest, love.”
He bent to kiss her but then stopped, reminding himself that she didn’t want it.
“I don’t know why you are slipping away from me, Anaya,” he whispered, “But please don’t spoil this beautiful bond that we share.”
Aniya thought she heard him wrong. He sounded as if… as if … he loved her.
No! Not possible! Such things only happen in romantic novels or movies. In real life, rich guys always go for same-status girls.
No. She wouldn’t give up on this.
George Donovan needed to get out of her life.
