Chapter 485: 485- Her Siblings
That night, while staring at the ceiling, sleep wouldn’t come. She didn’t want to cry like a baby, but the ache in her heart was unbearable.
She needed to get out of this place if she didn’t want to drown in this pain.
This was her family, yet she felt like an outsider when she was with them.
“No. Let’s get out of here. I came here to discover myself. Now I know why I chose Sangua. It’s time to take my fate in my hands and do something. I can’t spend my life crying over spilled milk.”
It was safer to cry in front of her friends than before Sinclairs.
The next morning, she stepped out of her room, intending to tell them after breakfast that she needed to leave.
Her ass had barely touched the couch when Ariel came to her holding a glass, “Here… before breakfast, you must drink this lemonade. It’ll keep your digestion healthy.”
Aniya held the glass in confusion. So, Alex told them about her vomiting episode.
She sighed and looked down at the lemonade, where she could see black salt particles floating on the surface.
“Morning!” Rafael ruffled her hair before going to his wife for a kiss. Wearing an apron, Marissa was busily cooking something.
“You’re awake, sweetheart,” Marissa smiled, holding a bowl of oats, “A Heavy breakfast isn’t good for you right now, so you should eat this.”
Aniya blinked at the bowl in surprise. She never had a real family who could spoil her like this.
Ariel plopped beside her onto the couch, making herself comfortable, “Alex. Give us a hand here. Just to make you happy, I urged Angela to go and visit her uncle’s family.”
So, Angela isn’t home?
Aniya took a sigh of relief. She was dreading, meeting the rude-faced girl.
She straightened when felt Ariel’s nudge, “You see how lazy he is?”
“Right!” Alex muttered, barely looking up from the TV screen, where an old football match was being telecast. He leaned back, adjusting the cushion behind his head, idly tapping the armrest.
“Ariel. You and Alex should plan something,” Rafael told his daughter and then turned to Marissa, “Don’t you think Anaya should go out and get some fresh air? They should take her for hiking.”
Hiking? Aniya tried her best not to widen her eyes.
She hated hiking.
Upon raising her eyes, she found four pairs of eyes waiting for her response.
“Umm. Yeah… hiking,” she picked up the bowl from the table and gave all of them a confused smile. However, she didn’t miss the amusement on their faces.
“Gosh! Anaya is just like her. Abi loved running around in the garden but never liked hiking,” Alex said to his parents, who were looking at Aniya with that yearning.
“Anaya. I promise. If you get tired, I’ll carry you,” Alex offered Anaya with a wink.
Anaya made a pout and started eating the cereal from the bowl, trying to ignore Ariel’s giggles, “You’re joking!” she mumbled before putting a spoonful in her mouth.
“Not even a little,” Alex said, grabbing the remote and turning up the volume.

Ariel was out to pick Angela up from her uncle’s house while Alex had to go out to meet some friends.
Aniya was sitting on the carpet in the living room chatting and laughing with Marissa and Rafael when she suddenly popped up the question, “I want to leave now,” she said nervously, feeling the couple begin to tense up.
“Wh…why… I mean… aren’t you liking it here?” Marissa asked her, Aniya shook her head with a faint smile.

“I enjoyed being here in your company. But now I need to do something with my life. There are things… and some people I’m running away from. I need to take a rest because all this running is making me tired.”
She gave a damn if her words sounded confusing to them because right now she needed an ear. If she wouldn’t say it all, then she might collapse.
“Okay. If you want to leave, then we… respect your decision…” Rafael said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, “But we would love to have you for a few more days.”
Marissa nodded her head, desperation evident on her face.
“I’ll visit you, I promise,” Aniya got up and headed to them. They were both sitting on the couch next to each other. Aniya kneeled there and held their hands, “I enjoyed my time here. Thank you, Mr. Sinclair, for … being there when I passed out… but now… it doesn’t feel right to overstay.”
Rafael squeezed her hand gently, “You’re not overstaying, Anaya, and we loved having you with us.”
Marissa leaned forward, “If you feel it’s time to go, we won’t stop you, sweetheart. Just know you always have a place in Sangua. Kanderton is our home, but this place will be there for you if you don’t have a roof over your head. Even when you want to chill out here with your friends, you’re welcome.”
Aniya nodded, swallowing the lump in her throat. She had expected them to be relieved or maybe eager to see her go because… well… after all…
She wasn’t their child.
But now their kindness was only making it harder.
Marissa reached out for a rectangular box on the coffee table and handed it to her, “We arranged a phone for you… and please don’t say no…” she warned her before she could argue, “You don’t have one, and that’s very wrong. In case of emergency, you should be able to contact anyone … including us.”
Aniya hesitated for a minute. It was an expensive gift, and it didn’t make sense.
“Anaya,” Rafael called her name, “Return it to us once you buy it for yourself. And if possible, have tonight’s dinner with us.”
Aniya was taken aback by the invitation.
Didn’t she stay for last night’s dinner?
“Yes. Caleb and Celine will be thrilled to meet you. They will be here this evening,” Aniya found herself at a loss.
What if I stay a little longer? She thought, at least I’ll be able to meet my twin siblings, too.
“OK, fine,” she relented with a smirk, “I’ll stay for dinner.”
Though she didn’t know where she would go from here. But she wanted to meet her siblings.
