Chapter 489: 489- Beat You To A Pulp
“Did you eat properly? Should I order something else for you?” Marissa Sinclair had walked up to her seat like a good host and was inquiring about her needs and wellbeing.
Angela was finding it hard to believe. Why did she feel that Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair were being extra sweet with this girl?
Using her power and money, Angela could easily find out her background.
Yes! This is better. I’ll ask my dad to hire someone to do this task.
“Thanks, Marissa. The food was really good. I’m sure your restaurant will thrive like the Kanderton one,” Aniya told her sincerely and tried to get up. An older lady was standing nearby so she didn’t find it suitable to keep her ass glued to the chair. But Marissa quickly placed her hands on her shoulders, a silent command to remain seated.
“Thank you. Did Alex show you around?” She gave Alex a brief questioning look before asking her, and Aniya chuckled.
“He didn’t only show me around, but now he is adamant that I should post my first review of this restaurant after this meal. He had even asked the chefs to prepare their signature dishes,” Aniya told her with childlike excitement.
Marissa curved down her lips and threw an appreciative glance at her son, “Thank you, Alexander Sinclair. You are awesome, do you know that?” She leaned ahead to kiss his cheek.
Aniya’s eyes snapped to Angela’s face accidentally, and the same expressions were playing there.
Malice.
Spite.
Hostility.
Why did nobody from this family ever notice that she was taking advantage of Ariel?
However, in the blink of an eye, Angela’s face transformed into a friendly one, “I like the idea so much. Ariel and I would love to stay back and see how you two do it.”
Aniya again felt that bitter taste in her mouth.
Blood!
She wanted to chew this girl’s head and wished she could set her up with Dorian Maxwell.
Strange.
This time, his name didn’t scare her. Her heartbeat didn’t race at his thought.
You are definitely improving, Aniya. She wanted to pat her back.

Making a video took more time than she had expected. Yet Aniya found it surprisingly fun and loved every moment of it.
The best thing was Angela wasn’t there. Ariel had dragged her back home.
So that left Aniya with Alex and some friendly chefs who even helped her with the authentic taste of Asian spices.
While driving back home, sitting in the passenger seat, Aniya was scrolling through her phone, repeatedly checking the views on her video.
“I am confused,” she murmured, leaning back, “I don’t think I’ll get any views on this one. Just look at the way I’m speaking. Like someone is holding the gun against my head.”
Alex chuckled, keeping his eyes on the road, “Don’t give up, Anaya. Success doesn’t come overnight. I told you. Just keep doing your thing.”
With a sigh, she tapped on the video, “See! I’m stuttering really bad,” she then turned to him, “Should I delete it?”
“No way!” his voice raised a little, “That’s the worst thing you’ll do to yourself. People love authenticity, Anaya. Things improve with time. Just be yourself.”
“And pleasssss….” His lecture didn’t stop, “Don’t worry about views. Come up with smart hashtags, post consistently, and you will be popular in no time.”

“Hashtags?” Raising a brow, she repeated.
“Yeah,” he grinned, “Something catchy. Don’t worry. Nowadays, everything is on social media. Just keep searching for it and keep improving yourself.”
She made a face, “I look horrible!” she jerked her head in annoyance.
“Shut up, beautiful!” he scolded her softly, and that made her smile, “You’re beautiful, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

Aniya was laughing at some joke Alex had cracked while entering the living room. Marissa and Rafael were sitting on the couch, discussing something when they both turned their heads at the laughter.
Before they could ask Aniya to share the joke, Angela’s icy voice cut through like ice, “Where were you?”
Aniya stopped in his tracks along with Alex, her body stiffened.
“Angela!” Ariel tried to warn her with wide eyes, “What has gotten into you?”
“I also want to know, Angela,” Alex called her out, “What’s the fuss about? We are bearing you because you’re my sister’s friend, that doesn’t give you a license to disrespect Anaya.”
Angela ignored Alex and took a step towards Aniya, “Why are you always around him? Ariel is equally your host. You hardly talked to Celina and Caleb in the restaurant. What exactly are you planning, Anaya?”
With wide eyes, Aniya watched her in bewilderment, “Excuse me.”
“Oh, don’t act innocent,” Angela scoffed, “You’re sticking to Alex’s ass like a glue,” she then turned to the rest of the family, her voice laced with accusation, “Can’t you all feel? She is taking advantage of you?”
“That’s enough,” Rafael slowly got up from the couch, “You can’t disrespect my guest.”
But Angela wasn’t done. She jabbed a finger towards Aniya, “You don’t belong here… and you know it. You’re just clinging to Alex because…”
“Because what?” Aniya hissed in anger, taking everyone by surprise, “Because what, Angela? Do you want to know why? Because… Because he is my brother!” her voice raised slightly.
Aniya’s reaction made everyone freeze. Her chest was heaving, and her vision was blurred with tears, but she didn’t stop.
No. She wouldn’t!
She took measured steps towards Angela, not breaking the eye contact, and for the first time Angela felt fear, gripping her senses.
“Brother? N-now you’re taking advantage of them, Anaya? Because everyone knows how they lost their daughter. News flash, babe! She is dead,” Angela tried to be sarcastic.
Her words didn’t make Aniya stop. She kept walking to her until the distance between them was covered.
Angela couldn’t hold her gaze for long.
“If you dare utter another word, Angela,” Aniya spat, “I swear I’ll beat you to a pulp. Alex is my real brother, you trashy fu*cker!”
