Chapter 57: Titus Vs Richard II
Titus Vs Richard II
Curtis had his eyes tightly closed and he was on his knees, back hunched. Beside him lay a bloody knife that was black, the same one that had stabbed him. Seems like he’d managed to get it out.
His face was deathly pale and his back was covered in his own blood which seemed far too much considering that he was supposed to be quite durable and be capable of healing very quickly. Not to mention that it felt off for him to bleed so much when he hadn’t been hit in any sort of pressure point.
Titus couldn’t dwell on this though as he suddenly felt Mana surge and his head snapped forward to see Richard with a solemn expression on his face. His sword was vibrating with incredible speed and gave off a strange frequency.
A terrifying pressure was emitted from his body and Tutus felt sweat start to cover his head. Richard was no longer playing around.
The man took a step forward and almost instantly appeared in front of Titus, his sword descending with scary force.
Titus didn’t try and dodge because Richard was simply moving too fast, so he raised his sword and held it at an angle so that the attack would be deflected and supported the blade with his other hand.
However much to his shock, Richard’s sword basically had no force behind it when it hit his and before he could react, Richard had already let go of the weapon and threw a devastating punch into Titus’ stomach. His fist vibrating with a scary frequency.
Titus’ eyes went wide as he felt as though an explosion had gone off in his stomach and felt several organs immediately rupture and blood spurted from his mouth.
Pain made him see stars as he was thrown back and bounced off the floor before rolling a few times and finally coming to a stop.
He supported himself slightly and vomited large amounts of blood, tears streaming down his face. His mind was foggy as the pain wracked through his body and it took all his willpower to not collapse on the spot.
‘F-Fuck… if I hadn’t… poured my light magic into my stomach… I would have died.’ He thought hazily. His light magic was already healing the internal damage, but not as fast as he would have liked.
Still, he couldn’t fall yet. Curtis was still recovering and couldn’t defend himself. He was the only one that could keep Richard at bay.
He coughed up some more blood before using wind to get himself back on his feet. But he swayed unsteadily and directed some light into his brain to clear up some of the fog.
He refocused and saw Richarf walking towards him calmly, vibrating blade in hand.
“You’re incredible, young master. Much stronger than I had imagined. Compared to before that is.” Richard spoke, his voice calm and devoid of emotion.
Titus didn’t say anything and gradually entered a stance. That’s when he realised that he felt… strange.
If before his mind was clear, now it was incomparably sharp. He didn’t feel his anger towards Richard, nor did he feel his worry for his brother and siblings wherever they were. He also didn’t feel scared for his safety. His mind was completely clear, and the only thing on his mind was to defeat Richard.
He took a deep breath, and his energy soared.
Light and wind swirled around him like serpents, coating his body firmly, looking almost like a suit of exquisite armour.
A faint wind barrier also covered his body and his sword simmered as its sharpness increased several fold. In his eyes, the world seemed to slow down and his perception rose by several degrees, allowing him to see even the smallest details.
His body looked like an arrow ready to be released, the light illuminating his pale and bloodied face, and eyes that were wide and filled with nothing but battle intent.
‘I did it. I pulled it off.’ He thought as he managed to use the technique he’d been developing since he started training under Christopher. However, up until now, he couldn’t properly pull it off before his concentration broke and the whole thing collapsed.
But now that he was experiencing a moment of utmost Clarity, he managed to pull it off without any issues.
‘Radiant Tempest mode.’ He would have been incredibly happy, but now all he cared about was finishing off Richard.
He could already feel his Mana draining at an incredible rate and knew he had to finish the fight fast. Luckily for him, speed was what this form excelled at.
His body swayed and in an instant, he was behind Richard who’s eyes widened. His sword made no sound as it cleaved towards his neck with terrifying speed.
Richard’s body vibrated and he just barely managed to weave out of the way and spun to counter, his sword slashing towards Titus’ waist.
The attack struck true, but it cut through him like he was air, and Richard’s face became solemn as the clone dissipated into sparks of light.
Titus who was already behind him swung his sword once more and Richard spun to block, but then a blinding light suddenly emitted from the blade causing Richard to close his eyes on instinct. He immediately relied on his ability to sense vibrations to feel Titus’ presence felt his steps and the faint vibrations in the air.

He raised his sword to block and felt a collision, but grunted when he felt a sharp pain bloom on his shoulder.
He gritted his teeth and yelled, a powerful shockwave exploding from his body which pushed everything close to him away before he opened His eyes.
Titus was already closing in again, his eyes wide as he stared at Richard with only one intention behind his eyes. And that was to kill him.
Richard gritted his teeth and moved forward to meet him, and in a moment, the two of them entered a deadly dance, their blades flashing through the air like metal storms.
Clangs echoed throughout the hall as their figures blurred, Richard using his vibrations to unleash heavy hits and try to deal true damage to Titus while Titus moved with incredible speed and precision, his enhanced perception allowing him to see each of Richard’s moves and counter them accordingly.
As such, Richard started to fall under pressure, and gradually, shallow cuts started to appear on his body. They weren’t threatening as it was, but they were starting to pile up. And at this rate, he’d either die from blood loss or receive a lethal injury.
As such, on their last clash, he created a shockwave that pushed them apart, and when Titus rushed in again, the vibrations changed frequency and an incredibly shrill and high pitched sound suddenly erupted.
Titus paused as his eardrums ruptured, his body swaying as the sound caused his mind to go blank.
Richard wasted no time and rushed in to finish the job, sending a thrust straight towards Titus’ heart.
But at the last moment, Titus suddenly sidestepped the attack causing Richard to miss and leave himself wide open. Richard’s heart went cold.
‘What?! How did he regain his senses so quickly?! He isn’t even sluggish… unless…’ His eyes widened.
‘He never became dazed in the first place! He let his eardrums rupture and pretended to lose his senses!’ Richard shouted inwardly as Titus’ sword rapidly descended on his neck.
At such close range, dodging was impossible, and with his sword outstretched in front of him the way it was, blocking wasn’t possible either.
‘No, I refuse!’ He roared in his heart, despair and u willingness filling him. How could he lose to this little whelp?! This child that has been pampered his entire life and hasn’t fought a serious life or death battle before?!
It shouldn’t have been possible! After all, he should have been one or two ranks ahead of the boy. How was he so strong already? He should have died the moment the fight started!
‘You betrayed them and the youngest will be the one to kill you. How pathetic.’ Through his anger, a small part of him whispered.
‘These people took you in and provided for you. Gave you a purpose. You had a job, a home, and this is how you repay them? Even a dog is more loyal than that. Dying like this is fitting, since this shows you never deserved their aid.’ The dark part of his mind whispered and Richard would grit his teeth but there wasn’t time to do so.
‘How… did it even come to this?’ He asked himself and got the answer almost immediately, the face of a certain young man appearing in his mind.
‘Ah… I was jealous.’
Then Titus’ blade finally reached his neck.
Blood sprayed as Titus beheaded Richard in one smooth motion, the blade passing through his neck and outstretched arm.
Blood sprayed and his body swayed before collapsing, his head flying before bouncing off the floor and rolling for a bit before stopping. His eyes were filled with nothing but regret before slowly losing their light.
Titus wheezed and fell to his knees. His Mana had bottomed put almost immediately after Richard was killed, causing his technique to fade into nothing and a strong sense of weakness and nausea came over him. But he did it, he’d won.
“I’m impressed.” A voice caused Titus to tense and he looked up, his heart growing cold.
The Voidwalkers stood in front of him, surrounding him and his brother once more. However, this time, the two of them were both weak and hurt, meaning putting them down would be significantly easier.
‘Damn it… I need to-‘ Titus tried to get up but a tremor went through his body and blood dripped from his nose, eyes and ears causing him to fall down coughing.
“Aye aye aye. Looks like backlash to me. You pushed yourself too far kid.” The Voidwalker walked forward and shook his head.
“A shame. You’re quite talented. But alas, you’ve reached your limit.” He stopped in front of Titus who swayed unsteadily.
“Well, that’s that I suppose. Goodbye. May Oblivion take you.” He raised his hand and a black blade made of shadows appeared. Then he swung down.
CLANG
However, a bright blue chain stopped the blade right before it reached Titus’ neck.
The Voidwalker frowned behind his mask and Titus looked up with surprise before turning back.
Curtis was still pale, but his eyes had a fierce fire burning within them, waves of energy billowing off his figure and blue light crackled around him as the ground melted with each step he took.
“You dare come into this place and try to hurt my family?” He said with a rage filled voice.
“You won’t be leaving here today!”
