Chapter 72: Yap Session. Skippable
Okay, Author here. Today we’re gonna be doing smth a little different.
This is a bit of a yap session so I’ll use this as an opportunity to explain a bunch of things some of you are curious about, while at the same time explain a few things about myself so that you guys as the readers can understand why I do certain things.
Now, first order of Business, the power rankings.
I received a question a while back about why I made the Rankings for humans as such and I answered that I was simply lazy. Though That isn’t the full truth.
Indeed, Laziness is a part of it, but it was also because I wanted a different realm of progression from the usual F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS and so on.
I wanted my novel to be different in a few aspects from other novels, so my lack of determination aside, I did that because I wanted to be unique.
And as it would turn out, a lot of you are struggling with it.
Something I failed to consider is that because people are so used to the usual lettered realm progression system, it’s much easier to remember. And me creating a new one would make a bunch of people have to memorise which rank is higher than which. And I suppose that was an oversight on my part.
Now naturally I doubt this is the case for everyone, nobody is the same after all, and who knows, maybe those people who complained are actually less than those who don’t mind. But this is me just ranting.
Now does that mean I will change this? Unfortunately, no. This is something I’m quite fixed on and am determined to make it stick. This might cause some dissatisfaction, but it’s my novel and I want it to be unique in its own way, no matter how minute that way might be.
So for those of you who aren’t happy about the ranking system. I apologise, but I will not be changing it, and that is non-negotiable.
Now, still on the matter of the power Rankings, some of you wanted to know how that actually worked, so let me give a proper explanation.
As an entity grows stronger, Mana is saturating their bodies. Now keep in mind, the concept of Mana cores isn’t a thing as of this moment, so that isn’t what they use to gauge a being’s power.
Instead, it’s the quality of the Mana within their bodies.
As I explained when Christopher fought against the Voidwalkers, the purer the Mana, the more effective the magic. And this applies to the power progression.
Theoretically speaking, a being could have immense quantities of Mana within their bodies, but if that Mana hasn’t reached a certain degree of purity, then it doesn’t matter how much of that Mana the being has as they will still be stuck at that rank.
Now you may ask, but wouldn’t that mean Christopher’s rank should be far higher than what is actually portrayed due to the Mana he uses? And that would be no. Remember, I said the Mana within a being’s body.
The Mana Christopher draws from his Dimension isn’t the same as the reserve within his own body, so he can’t just cheese the ranking system like that.
As for how that affects his ability to affect Runes, as Sinestra explained, that’s a result of his soul being so pure.
Now onto the next thing, just how strong is one considered to be depending on what rank they are at.
Now, when one ranks up and their Mana increases in quantity and quality, they will be capable of unleashing more devastating attacks.
Unfortunately, my dumbass thought that town level was higher than mountain level and I still haven’t rectified that issue, so I’ll now post all the ranks and just how much base damage they should be capable of dealing.
White- Wall level
Yellow- Street level
Indigo- Building level
Orange- City block level
Blue- Multi-City block level
Red- City level
Purple- Mountain level
Silver- Island level

Gold- Continent level
Black- Multi-Continent level
Grey- Moon level
Now something to keep in mind. This list isn’t absolute. It’s simply the baseline for the attack power a being at a certain rank should achieve. That’s why despite only being at the Purple rank, Christopher was stated to have the capacity to level a continent. His base attack power is mountain level. That’s how it will be from now on.
This means that beings at certain levels can be capable of destruction beyond their rank, but the only thing that keeps them under the distinction of a certain rank is their Mana quality. This is why Titus was able to kill Richard. Richard at that point was at the Blue rank while Titus had achieved Indigo.
Now another thing to note, the damage stated is simply for mundane objects. Basically someone would only be able to destroy a mountain if they were attacking a NORMAL mountain.
This is also the reason that despite Richard having a base attack power of Multi-City block level, the damage he did to the interior of the Palace was minimal since it’s built to endure such attacks.
The same logic can be applied to Christopher’s battle against Lenax. Both of them were at similar ranks of power with a base attack power of mountain level. But Sinestra’s body, which was the island, was far more durable than that. So the destruction caused was minimal.
In short. The durability of a location should still be taken into account whenever someone fights, that’s why I don’t instantly say that someone’s attack left a mountain sized crater in the ground all the time.
Now unto the next thing. Someone asked why the ranking system for the beasts sounded a lot cooler than the sentient beings.
And well, the truth is that it’s something that I’ve had at the back of my mind for quite some time. The same applies to the human ranking system. Also it just sounded right to me, and quite frankly, it still does.
Now for the next issue and this one is a bit unrelated to the plot.
I receive frequent call outs for spelling and grammar mistakes and of everything, that’s probably the most pointed out issue.
So here’s the thing, I have ADHD. And for those of you that don’t know what that is, it’s Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder.
To sum it up, I can’t pay attention to stuff that doesn’t give me dopamine because I lack dopamine. That’s a small part of it but I won’t go in depth about it since the other things don’t relate to what I’m about to say.
Now, I like writing. Writing is one of the things that gives me the dopamine that I lack. However, what doesn’t give me Dopamine is proofreading. And when something doesn’t give me Dopamine, it makes it REALLY difficult to focus on a certain task. And in this case, Proofreading.
As such, when I read through my work, I more often than not miss an otherwise clear grammatical error which ends up being published along with everything else.
Now you might be asking. “If that’s the case, why not just get a proofreader?”
And my simple response is, I DO have a proofreader, the problem is that I keep forgetting to send him the chapters to do his job.
The complicated response is, once again, linked to my ADHD. I’m in a different Timezone so the deadline I have to post chapters is a lot earlier than what it should be. Basically instead of the ultimate deadline being 12 midnight, it’s around 3 in the afternoon.
Doesn’t sound like a big deal right? Now here’s the thing. ADHD dictates that your mind NEVER rests, and I’m often sleep deprived because if for any reason I wake up in the middle of the night, I’m not gonna sleep anymore until my brain physically cannot process another thought.
So usually, afternoon is meant to be my nap time. But because of the deadline, I have to drop chapters. And when I do drop chapters, my brain is melted and sluggish. And at that point all I care about is releasing the chapter so I can sleep. As such I half-ass the proofreading process.
And no I don’t have ADHD meds, they aren’t sold in my country which is stupid.
That’s why I keep forgetting to get the chapters proofread. Now honestly I don’t see this as an excuse and I’m going to rectify this issue soon….hopefully.
I’m mostly saying all this so that you guys can kinda understand where I’m coming from and why I make these mistakes that should otherwise be easily rectifiable.
Now, for the last topic.
A lot of people don’t like Joan.
And um, sorry to say this but uh, Our boy is still gonna chase after her so yeah.
That’s all I have to say.
Actually no it isn’t. I’ll also use this as an opportunity to express my appreciation for you guys.
The rate at which this book has grown has simply blown my mind. More than 400K Readers in a little over two months is insane! Especially considering that i haven’t even uploaded up to 100 chapters, and quite frankly, I’m overwhelmed whenever I see those numbers, and it’s why I’m so eager to respond to a lot of comments.
Seriously knowing that many people checked out my story, even if all of them didn’t read it, honestly just makes me feel warm. Call me cringe but it did wonders for my self esteem. God knows I need that.
So thank all of you for reading. The good reviews and the bad ones, all are accepted. Y’all make my day everyday. So have a Blessed day wherever you are.
From yours truly, Author-San~
