MY 10,000× DIMENSIONAL SYSTEM - Chapter 73
Chapter 73: Scheme
Scheme
The knowledge that the fate of everything within the Dimension rested on him made Christopher feel a sudden weight on his shoulders.
‘I’d never thought about it before. But if I died, what would happen to the Dimension and everything Inside? Since they are all connected to me?’ Christopher wondered, but he already knew the answer. If he died, the Dimension would cease to exist, and everyone would most likely die as well.
‘Well damn now I have to stay alive no matter what.’ He sighed. But at the same time, he felt… only strange.
His free hand slowly moved to his chest and he felt his heartbeat slightly increasing.
‘Huh? Why am I feeling… excited?’ He wondered.
How curious. He just discovered that if he wasn’t careful and lost his life. The lives of his subordinates would be forfeit, and the Dimension would most probably collapse.
And yet he was feeling excited.
‘It would seem as though I have another goal besides chasing my complicated feelings.’ Yes, that’s what it was.
Christopher was excited because now, he had a new purpose besides trying to find Joan.
‘Keeping everyone safe.’ Of course, Christopher already intended to protect every single member of his cohort with everything at his disposal should something bad happen. It was a given.
But back then, he’d been doing it out of a vague sense of morality. After all, he decided to take them in. To him, it was his responsibility to keep them safe.
But now, knowing that dying would mean their deaths as well, it didn’t become a simple responsibility anymore. At least, it didn’t feel that way.
He had a clear objective now. And that was to keep everyone safe. And that excited him.
It took him a moment before he was able to calm down.
‘Right, my current objective hasn’t changed.’ He told himself as he focused on the task at hand.
He had made use of Norn for a reason, and that was to peer into the threads of Fate to see the possible outcomes of the future.
After a bit of fiddling, he discovered a few things about peering into the future. For starters, the farther he looked into different possibilities, the higher the Mana cost. And it wasn’t a progressive process either as there was quite the large jump in energy consumption for every second he went past.
But that wasn’t a huge issue because, well, Christopher had insane amounts of Mana at his disposal due to his Dimension.
As such, he was able to see quite far.
Then there was another thing he noticed, the way the threads were built depended on how their future could end up as a result.
For starters, the brighter a thread was, the more significant its effect on the future would be. And the thicker it was, the higher the chances of it happening.
Now these two things didn’t need to happen together, as there were many threads that were quite thick but very dim. And there were threads that had opposite qualities where they were very thin but extremely bright.
That’s when Christopher noticed something odd.
‘Wait a minute. Aisha said she couldn’t read me at certain intervals because I randomly vanished. But those periods were the times I entered my Dimension. And if her mother is correct, my Dimension isn’t a part of this world, and as such, fate doesn’t affect things that aren’t of this world.
‘I’m an anomaly since my body is from this world, but my soul isn’t. And my Dimension isn’t either. In that case, why can I read the fate of things in the outside world if my Dimension isn’t of this world. But Aisha can’t read me or my Dimension from the outside world?’ Christopher frowned.
[The Dimension can mask itself.] The System gave a quick and concise answer.
‘Ah, I see… wait, the Dimension can mask itself from an entire world?!’ Christopher exclaimed.
[The System was created from the essence of a new universe. Masking its fate from a world isn’t difficult.] For the first time, Christopher thought he detected a trace of disdain in the system’s tone.
He wanted to say something, but decided to leave it.

Instead, he decided to do the main thing, and start reading Fate and observe the possible futures of himself and his cohort.

“Wow… I’m actually very angry.” In the familiar empty and dark room. The cloaked figure stood with his head down, his body trembling slightly.
In front of him, the Eminence sat down cross legged. At first glance, there wasn’t anything of note happening. But upon closer inspection, one would be able to tell that the entire room was slowly coming undone.
As if someone had grabbed an eraser and was slowly wiping away the surroundings. And it was so quiet too, and was quite eerie as a result.
“Initially, I wanted to recruit him. But it’s clear that he won’t come over to our side. And even if he wanted to for some reason, he screwed over a plan we’ve been putting in motion for quite some time. And numerous resources were wasted because of it. No, this will not do.” The Eminence mumbled before slightly turning his head in the direction of the Cloaked figure.
“I’ve come to a decision. We’ll begin Operation Abyss immediately.” Hearing this, the Cloaked figure’s head snapped up.
“Wha- So soon? But Eminence, haven’t obtained the Sword yet.” He spoke with a bit of a trembling voice.
“You think I don’t know that? The issue is that all the races will be on guard against us, and this Christopher individual is too big of a threat to leave unchecked. The only way we’ll have a chance to obtain the Shards is to cause Chaos and leave everyone and everything fragmented enough to give us a chance to accomplish our goals.” The Eminence snorted.
“Now next time, don’t question my motives and just do what I tell you to do. Now go-” The Eminence paused and his head suddenly snapped in a certain direction. His eyes narrowing behind his mask.
“…Eminence?” His servant asked and he slowly shook his head.
“It’s nothing, don’t worry about it. Just do what I told you to do.” He said calmly and the s3rvant nodded before leaving the room that had quite of it erased.
‘Strange, I could have sworn I felt a gaze on me. But from where? And whom?’ The Eminence thought.
“Best to be on guard then.”

“That was close.” Christopher mumbled as he stopped observing the conversation of the person he assumed to be the leader of the Voidwalkers right before he got noticed.
One interesting thing about being able to peer into the tapestry of fate was that it didn’t have to be things that could only happen in the future that he could observe. In fact, he could observe present and past events just as easily.
However the latter took just as, if not more Mana than seeing into the future. And he couldn’t do anything to change the past unlike he could with the future. Which made sense.
Well he thought so anyway.
“They wanna sow chaos huh? Well, with how things turned out, it indeed makes sense.” Christopher rubbed his chin.
Someone might think the decision was hasty, but it really wasn’t and was actually really well thought out.
First of all, they had endured quite the losses due to Christopher, and among those losses were many of their elite members, meaning their overall manpower had dropped significantly.
Secondly, all their informants had been wiped out. So there was no way they’d be able to know who held the Legend Sword Shards with them, and now that everyone knew just what the Voidwalkers were capable of, they’d be far more vigilant than before. So planting spies would become nearly impossible.
As for why they couldn’t just wait and bide their time,Christopher could think of a few reasons for this.
But the one he suspected was the issue was that the Voidwalkers singlehandedly pissed off every single race on the planet. Whether those who had the Shards or not. That’s because everyone that had joined the Auction was from one of the myriad of races in the world.
And holding them hostage and intending to kill them was more than enough to draw their ire.
As such, hiding wasn’t really too smart since literally everyone, including the Dragons, would be looking to get a bit of revenge against them.
As such, staying idle would only get them killed. Now that they had taken the initiative, they needed to be even more aggressive if they wanted their plans to succeed.
If they managed to create chaos that was widespread enough, everyone would be preoccupied with themselves. And as such, their attention would deviate from the Voidwalkers and give them time to breathe.
At the same time, if everyone was struggling to deal with something, cracks were bound to appear in their defences. And as a result, it would make it easier to slip in and steal the Shards.
‘Cunning indeed.’ Christopher thought.
‘Still, they are underestimating me quite a bit.’
