Chapter 79: And So It Begins III
And So It Begins III
‘This… this is insane.’ Titus thought with a gulp.
Currently, around him were numerous soldiers of the Darius Family, And next to him was his sister who was leading the battalion.
The Darius siblings each had a Battalion to lead, as well as the stronger heirs of the other main families. He was an exception though as,despite having become much stronger recently, he was still lacking in many areas.
As such, he was assigned to be with Felicia who, among many things, could guarantee his safety to some degree.
There was an issue though.
‘I seriously doubt that I’m safe.’ He thought as he stared forward.
The Void Creatures were as numerous as Belladonna and their scouts had said, and in the clearing where they poured out from, they looked like a wave of black water charging towards their army.
It was both terrifying and intimidating, seeing the creatures capable of ignoring existence itself charging straight at them.
And yet, Titus, despite his anxiety, felt sure that they would succeed.
The reason for his confidence?
He looked in a certain direction and saw a lone figure standing at the front of the army, two blood red short swords in her hands as she watched on, her presence like a from mountain amongst tumultuous waves.
Belladonna cracked her neck and rolled her shoulders and ignored the stares of the soldiers behind her.
The Emperor who was some ways away walked up to her and asked calmly.
“Will you be alright?” She looked at him and snickered.
“Your highness, worry about yourself.” After that, she tilted her head.
“Also take this.” She stretched out her hand and a multicoloured totem pole appeared in her grasp, and the Emperor recognised it immediately.
“That is…”
“Mhm, it’s the same totem my master used Back at the Auction.” She handed it to him.
“In case I can’t hold back every single creature at the same time and some slip through, just activate it with a small bit of your Mana and your items will be able to handle the Void Creatures.” And with that, she started to walk forward.
The Emperor stared at her back with a hint of a complicated gaze before sighing and walking back to his army.
‘This should be fun.’ She thought as she proceeded.
Any other person would be scared out of their minds if they saw such a huge swarm of creatures rushing towards them like a tide. But Belladonna wasn’t perturbed.
In fact, she was a bit excited.
As she walked, her Aura started to rise. And with each step, it multiplied significantly.
And in just a few steps, it had turned utterly suffocating. And a faint red colour seemed to fall over the world as she spread her arms.
On the Vermillion Reapers, Bright red flames covered the left one and Crimson frost covered the right one.
Her Ruby eyes shone as the tattoo on her collarbone also glowed.
‘I think I can go all out a little bit.’ As she had that thought, the tattoo on her collarbone suddenly glowed even brighter and began to grow.
Most of it was obscured due to her armour, but across her face and the right sight of her body, a tattoo that seemed to depict fire, ice and blood appeared.

“Royal Exclusive Skill.” She spoke powerfully.
“Sanguine Ascendence.” Her Aura erupted with terrifying intensity.
The ground around her for several hundred meters shattered under the force and she bent slightly, the Vermillion Reapers by her sides.
The army behind her all had to shield themselves from the intensity of the Aura as if they weren’t careful, many of them could have been sent flying.
Belladonna leaned forward slightly and held the Vermillion Reapers by her sides, then she vanished. And a moment later, the ground exploded from the speed.
She was like a red comet as she dove straight into the mass of Void Creatures, and a moment later, massive spears of solidified blood erupted from the ground and skewered dozens of Void Creatures. They struggled for a moment before going limp and their bodies disintegrated into nothing.
A moment later, Crimson light flashed before dozens of Creatures were sliced into pieces.
In a few short moments, Belladonna had shredded hundreds of Void Creatures. And that number was rapidly climbing.
Blood, red flames, and red ice went rampant and Belladonna utterly descended on the swarm, killing anything that even resembled a Void Creature.
‘I-Incredible.’ Titus thought with amazement.
His instincts told him that if he got even a little bit close to that battlefield, he’d die before he even knew what happened.
And the incredible thing was that, despite how destructive Belladonna was being, she was actually controlling her strength to an extremely fine degree.
After all, she was an Emperor, and the bare minimum of strength someone of her rank could unleash was at the continent level, and that’s only the bare minimum if she was reckless.
Meaning she was unleashing attacks that could cause that amount of destruction with such precision that only her targets and the surrounding area were affected.
However, despite just how effective she was at dealing with the creatures, some still inevitably passed her.
It couldn’t be helped, they were simply too many, and Belladonna couldn’t unleash a large-scale attack capable of wiping them out without harming the human army as well.
And So a few dozen creatures still managed to get past her and charged towards the much weaker humans.
Titus tensed. This was the moment of truth.
The Emperor sighed and stared at the totem pole in his hand. And without a word, he stabbed it into the ground and poured some of his Mana into the totem.
Immediately he did, it shone brightly, and then an invisible wave suddenly spread over the entire army.
“W-Woah!” Titus exclaimed and looked at his hands and noticed a very faint shimmer on them. But that wasn’t all.
His body, felt many times stronger. He felt like he could destroy a mountain with one punch, which wasn’t really true but you get the point.
However, the most obvious change was with his items.
He stared down at his sword and noticed that it was humming slightly. He sensed the Mana within it and was shocked.
‘It’s so pure!’ He exclaimed in his mind. It was as if the blade was suffused with incomparable pure Mana. Which it was. And it wasn’t just his sword either as his armour as well was filled with this incredibly rich and potent Mana.
He clearly recalled Lady Crimson telling them that the simplest way to kill the Void Creatures was hitting them with Mana purer than their existence could handle which would cause them to be destroyed.
After all, the same way the Void counter Reality was the same way Reality countered the Void.
He stared forward and noticed the Emperor had summoned an exquisite white and blue spear. The faint radiance making him appear like a powerful deity.
His wife walked to his side holding a black whip and the Emperor raised his spear and spoke.
“My people.” He spoke calmly, but all could hear his voice.
“Steel your hearts.” Then his voice became sharp.
“And leave nothing alive.”

‘I got one!’ Titus exclaimed inwardly with some excitement. But he had no time to dwell as a tentacle with absolutely no presence descended on him.
His body blurred and became a flash of light that went around the tentacle which was then reduced to pieces a moment later.
The Void Creature that had attacked him lashed out with its limbs, but Titus managed to dodge the myriad of attacks and reach its core. And then with a yell, he slashed his sword across it and the creature convulsed before stopping and disintegrating.
Titus exhaled, but he had no time to rest as he raised his sword and blocked a stroke from a smaller but significantly more agile Void creature that had pounced on him.
The strike made him slide backwards a few feet, but that was it as his body was unharmed.
The creature moved around him before attacking a blindspot, but he anticipated it and timed his counter attack. Spinning at the last moment and stretching out his sword, causing the creature to slice itself in half on it.
‘These things are relentless.’ Christopher panted as he jumped back to avoid a swarm of tentacles from above.
He then spun and avoided getting smacked away like a fly from a tentacle that flanked him.
His eyes dashed around and soon spotted his assailant. And without hesitation, he grabbed the hilt of his sword and the muscles in his arms tensed before he threw it at the Void Creature with such force that it created a sonic boom.
The creature tried to block the sword with a wall of tentacles, but they were pierced through with ease and its core followed soon after.
‘It’s only been a few minutes dammit!’ Titus cursed inwardly and managed to retrieve his sword before facing another creature.
The crazy thing was that if not for Belladonna, the human army would have probably been wiped out by now.
