Chapter 121: She Has No Right
Both Selene and Xavier continued with their usual routine the next day when they returned home.
Selene focused on her movie, while Xavier focused on his missions and work.
Kace tried not to look or speak with Allison since their last encounter. She wanted him to leave him alone, and that was what he would be doing.
But somehow, his eyes would linger on her back whenever he saw her, but he wouldn’t speak to her.
“Are you sure that’s possible?” Selene asked the director. “It’s best if you hire a stunt double for these roles. I’m not an athlete,” she added, staring at the director who wanted to coax her into jumping and flying buildings as if she was Jackie Chan.
Shadows Of Deception was an action-packed movie, where a businesswoman is framed for the death of her business rival. All allegations and evidence pointed to her even though she didn’t have a hand in the death of her business rival.
She was sentenced to life imprisonment. Not willing to give up just like that, she broke out of jail. The officer in charge of the case of finding her swears to put her back in jail no matter what.
But the runaway lady finds a little evidence that slightly proves she wasn’t the one who killed her business rival. The officer trusted her and the both of them worked together to catch the real killer who turned out to be the son of the business rival.
“I will immediately inform Kael,” said the director, looking for Kael while Selene scrunched her face in a big frown.
‘What does Kael have to do with this?’ She wondered.
Kael arrived when he saw the director calling out for him. The director explained the situation.
“I don’t mind doing the stunts,” said Kael.
Selene stared at him, giving him a puzzled reaction.
“It isn’t safe.”
“A rope will be attached to the waist to prevent you from falling. We have to make it real which is why the actors are doing their stunts,” the director implied, giving Selene an exasperated expression that had her frown even deeper.
Kael glanced between the director and Selene before he intervened.
“If Ms. Selene is not comfortable doing the stunts, there shouldn’t be a problem getting a stunt double right?” He asked, also wondering why it was so difficult for the director to just get a stunt double.
Professionals were better at doing the stunts.
The director sighed, turned to Selene, and changed his whole demeanor as if he wasn’t glaring at Selene a second ago.
“We are not getting a stunt double. We want the movie to look real. The other actors have agreed, only Ms. Selene is rejecting the idea,” he explained.
He didn’t like the fact she was arguing with him. If she got injured, she would be taken to the hospital and treated. It was that simple for him to think.
He chewed on the gum in his mouth, while glaring at Selene.
“Huh… because maybe when I fall off a building, I won’t be able to survive it,” she reasoned.
It wasn’t difficult for director Jeunes to agree to get stunt doubles for her role in The Sinner. He was the one who had suggested it. But this director before her wanted her to waste her one lifeline for one movie. She wasn’t a cat with nine lives.
She had heard how the actors in the movies he’d directed always ended up with injuries, injuries that could have been prevented.
Not only that, she had seen on social media how actors who didn’t take precautions while doing their stunts had broken their bones. Some were in a coma while some died.
“We will practice before the scene is shot,” the director responded then left the both of them, already tired of arguing with her.
She made his blood boil since no actor had spoken against him like that.
He was a renowned director and actors begged him just so that they could have a role in his movies. And here she was, telling him what to do and what not to do.
Selene glared at his back, already sensing he would bring her trouble.

“Don’t worry Selene, you got this. You just need practice and you will get a hang of it,” Kael tried to cheer her up.
She stared at him for a few seconds before she revealed a small smile.
“No amount of practice will make me be able to jump over a bus or flip over a building in a few days.”
Kael chuckled lightly.
“I will try to convince the director,” he replied.
Someone, Kael’s reply made Selene feel insignificant compared to the other actors.
She had last trained with Xavier two months ago before she went on the movie tour. She would do a daily workout to keep her body fit, even though she wasn’t lifting weights like she did back then.
Still, she couldn’t help but wonder how they would be doing such stunts.
Either way, it was too dangerous.
Meanwhile, the director Selene had just finished speaking with a cigarette he held with his lip and puffed the smoke out.
“Just because the first movie she starred in gave her little popularity, she has no right to teach me how to direct a movie,” he complained, puffing another amount of smoke again as he glared at Selene, who was still talking with Kael.
“All these newbie actresses,” the man who was seated near the director added. “They think they know it all. The other actors who have done their stunts didn’t complain. Why should she complain?”
He tapped the director on the shoulder, asking for a cigarette which was given to him immediately.
“This is my movie, and I will direct it however I want. Just because she’s associated with Xavier Wallace doesn’t scare me. If she doesn’t like how things are being run here, she can just quit and I will replace her immediately,” the director huffed.
