Chapter 275: Flashback
In Xander’s room, he quickly showered while trying not to strain his leg injuries.
“I should have gone back to my own house instead of coming here,” he thought out loud as he tried to wear his clothes. “Or at least, I could have asked Samantha to help me shower,” he added, hissing under his breath as he made his way to the bed.
He looked around the room which only consisted of a bed, a closet, and some chairs and tables with little to no fancy furniture lying around. The only difference between it and the rooms given to the other girls was that it was much larger than theirs.
The bed sank with his weight as he searched for the pillow to rest his head.
Xander faced the ceiling as several memories clouded his mind. Memories he wanted to forget but were difficult to do. Memories he wished he could go back in time and fix but were impossible to do.
Xander sighed, as the next image that resurfaced in his mind was the look Xavier had given him before he fired his bullets at him. Xander couldn’t explain what he was feeling, but he silently wished it would stop.
“It won’t be long anyway. It won’t be long before everything will be over. I’ll take back everything from him and then end him,” he promised, a determined look on his face.
However, despite that promise, he wasn’t sure if he would be satisfied with himself once everything was over.
Shaking his head, Xander decided to call it a day as he fell into a light slumber.
Two decades ago,
At the Wallace mansion, Xander and Xavier were in the study room designed by their father as a study area where they would get their homework done without any kind of disturbance.
Xander peered at Xavier from under his lashes, watching as his twin brother focused on the homework as if he were some pro, which he was.
“Don’t you ever get tired of doing homework?” Xander finally asked, resting on the back of his chair as he released a tired grunt coupled with a long sigh. “We’ve been here for four hours already. Don’t you think we need a break?” Before Xavier could reply, Xander beat him to it. “I need a break.”
“You do but I don’t. I can’t seem to get this calculation right,” Xavier responded, his dark eyes settled on the paper before him as he tried to get some calculations correct. “You can go ahead if you want. Will be behind you once I find a way to resolve this,” he added, his gaze still on the paper which earned him a deep frown from Xander.
“This must be why you’re dad’s favorite. You’re so serious when you are getting your assignment done. Plus, you’re getting good grades even though we just started the semester.” There was a bitter edge to his tone which Xavier missed.
“Don’t flatter me now. Sometimes, I do feel tired of studying too. But what to say, we have to be a good example to Richard and Kace when they grow up,” Xavier shrugged, finally raising his head to make eye contact with Xander.
‘Yeah right,’ Xander thought to himself.
“Alright then. I’ll go to the kitchen to get some juice boxes. You want some too?” He asked and Xavier nodded.
With one last glance at Xavier, Xander left the study to go bring the cool juice boxes for them. And grab any available snacks.
While he was heading to the kitchen, he passed his father’s study, but stopped when he heard his name being mentioned for an unknown reason.
Xander first glanced around to be sure there was no one nearby who could catch him eavesdropping on his father’s conversation since it was against the rules Mr. Wallace had laid out for him and Xavier to get used to.
Usually, whenever Xander overheard his name from his father’s mouth, he would believe it was nothing but bad news since all his father got was complaint after complaint from school.
Xander sighed, deciding to just go about his way since it would probably be another principal calling in about another shenanigan he’d caused in school.
However, when he was about to leave, he heard, “Xander is useless. He never does anything right!”
Xander felt his heart sink into his stomach at his father’s cruel words.
He’d known for the longest time that he wasn’t the best son, but was that how his father saw him? He couldn’t help but wonder.
“Xavier is so much better than Xander. You know that already,” Mr. Wallace continued, oblivious to the person behind his closed doors. “Xander has always failed his classes and from the look of things, he’s going to continue failing them. I wish he’d never been born.”
The last sentence felt like the last blow that hit Xander straight in the heart, causing it to bleed profusely. He tried to breathe, but it felt as if his lungs had been blocked by some invisible barrier.
He couldn’t believe his father would say something like that about him since he would always try to encourage Xander to do better.
Perhaps…he was already tired of wasting his time on Xander.

Quickly, Xander fought back a tear that threatened to fall from his ears. When he realized it was already too late, he wiped the liquid with the back of his hand.
Unable to stand there and continue hearing all the bitter words his father was throwing at him, Xander decided to leave and go to his earlier destination.
“So that’s what he thinks of me?” He mumbled under his breath, feeling the taste on his tongue turn bitter with hatred. He ignored the servants who bowed down to him since he was their first young master. “In that case, I might as well be that son that you truly want me to be,” he finished, a creepy smirk stretched on his lips.
