Chapter 13: I’ll change the course of events.
Gianna sneaked away and dialed a number. “Help me get an urgent appointment with Mr. Moore,” she said as soon as the call connected. “Tell him I have a lucrative offer for him. One he won’t want to miss.”
She ended the call, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction. The plan was already in motion. Ava’s downfall was just a matter of time if things went her way.
An hour later…
Gianna arrived at a luxurious restaurant. She removed her oversized goggles and wrapped her scarf elegantly around her head as she entered the restaurant and went straight to the private room, her high heels clacking against the gleaming marble floor.
Pushing open the grand double doors to the private room, she found herself standing before Mr. Moore—a man in his early thirties, lounging in a plush chair with a cigar hanging lazily from his lips. The room was thick with the pungent scent of tobacco.
Mr. Moore’s eyes narrowed, observing her with detached curiosity, exhaling rings of smoke.
Gianna pulled a bright smile on her face as she approached him. “Hello, Mr. Moore. Thank you for meeting with me,” she said with honeyed politeness.
He barely acknowledged her words, waving dismissively, seemingly uninterested in her pleasantries. “I’m here for an important business meeting with a representative from Asco Corporations. If my assistant hadn’t insisted, I wouldn’t have given you the time. I don’t have much time, so say what you need to and leave.”
Gianna remained unbothered, her smile unwavering. She smoothly slid into the chair across from him. “I’m not here to waste your time, Mr. Moore. In fact, I’m here to help you. I know you’re planning to finalize a deal with Dylan, and I’m confident that you’ll succeed. I’m just here to add a little… joy and pleasure to your victory.”
Mr. Moore sucked the smoke, his eyes further narrowing as he studied her. “What do you mean?”
“Dylan is sending his wife for the meeting,” Gianna said, her eyes gleaming with malice. “She is stunning, sexy… exactly the type to warm your bed. Think of her as a reward, an additional perk to your business success.”
Mr. Moore’s face twisted in a mix of irritation and disbelief. “Do you think I’m crazy?” he snapped. “I’m here to get in Dylan Brooks’ good graces, not to make an enemy out of him by seducing his wife. Do you want me dead?”
Gianna shook her head quickly, her expression remaining calm and composed despite his outburst. “No, no, I’m here to help you,” she said soothingly, her tone persuasive. “You don’t understand—Dylan doesn’t love his wife. In fact, he was forced into marrying her.”
“Really?” Mr. Moore’s irritation faded as curiosity sparked in him.
“Yes. Ava forced him into marriage. I don’t know exactly how she manipulated him, but Dylan has been trapped ever since. He is dying to be free of her. Did you know he even missed their first wedding anniversary?”
“Interesting!” He inhaled deeply from his cigar, savoring the taste of the smoke.
Gianna leaned forward, interlacing her fingers on the table. “Dylan won’t mind if you take her to bed. In fact, he’ll probably thank you. It’ll give him the perfect excuse to prove she has been unfaithful, allowing him to file for divorce.”
Gianna’s lips curled into a calculative grin. She knew that once Ava was caught in such a scandal, Dylan wouldn’t hesitate to kick her out of his life.
Mr. Moore’s demeanor shifted as he mulled over Gianna’s words, his expression growing more serious. Though doubt still lingered in his sharp eyes, the seed of temptation had clearly been planted.
“What if things go wrong?” he asked skeptically. “Dylan could turn against me if things go wrong. He has the power to destroy my business—ruin me.”
Gianna didn’t care whether Dylan destroyed this man or not. Her only goal was to destroy Ava, break her completely, and reclaim her rightful place in Dylan’s life.
“I understand your concerns but trust me on this—Dylan will thank you,” she assured. “He doesn’t care about Ava at all. The one he truly loves is me.”
“You!” Mr. Moore squinted at her with surprise and disbelief.
“Yes,” Gianna replied with conviction. “We’ve been in love for years, long before Ava came into the picture. If it weren’t for her forcing herself into Dylan’s life, we would have been married by now.”
Anger clouded her features. “I can see Dylan’s desperation to get out of this unwanted marriage. If you join hands with me, together we can prove Ava’s infidelity. Once Dylan sees that she has been unfaithful, he won’t hesitate to cut her out of his life for good.”
Mr. Moore’s smirk returned as a glint of opportunity flashed in his eyes. He thought Dylan would award him if he helped him in reuniting with his beloved. Maybe Dylan would sign a long-term partnership deal with him.
“Well, in that case, I am in,” he said with a hopeful smile.
Gianna was relieved. Finally, she was able to convince him. She pulled out a small plastic packet containing white powder and pushed it toward him. “Mix this into her drink. And you’ll witness the magic. She’ll come to you willingly, without resistance.” She rose gracefully from the chair, slinging her bag over her shoulder. “Enjoy yourself, Mr. Moore.”
Flashing a cunning smile at him, she walked out the door.

He blew the smoke as he squinted at the packet in his hand.
Half an hour later…
Ava finally arrived at the restaurant. As she approached the private room, a strange unease gripped her heart. The feeling that she had been in the same situation before made her restless. The lobby, the lights overhead, and the contemporary paintings adorned on the walls – all seemed trying to remind her something.
Her pace faltered, and she reached out instinctively, pressing her hand against the wall to steady herself. Her breath hitched, her chest rising and falling more rapidly as vivid flashes from her past life swam to the surface.
The images grew clearer with each passing second, and she remembered she had come to this meeting in her past life as well.
Back then, Mr. Moore had spiked her drink. He had tried to violate her.
With a gasp, Ava came out of her reverie, clearly recalling what had happened in the past. The history was repeating itself, but with her past knowledge, she could rewrite it.
Her nails dug into the manila folder in her hand. “This time, I’ll change the course of events.”
