Chapter 135: Lilianna’s husband
Emotions swirled inside Lilianna, and she couldn’t stop tears from gathering in her eyes.
“Hello,” she said, her voice quivering slightly, betraying her composure.
“Are you crying?” Henry’s rich and warm voice came through the phone.
“No,” Lilianna quickly denied.
“Lili, you are a bad liar, you know,” Henry teased gently, a soft chuckle escaping him. He thought she was crying because she missed him.
Unable to hold back the emotions any longer, Lilianna sobbed loudly. “I miss you.”
“I miss you too. That’s why I came to see you.”
Lilianna froze, disbelief and joy crashing together. “Really?” she exclaimed, the earlier tension lifting from her shoulders as a smile spread across her face. “You’re in town?”
“Yes, my love. I just landed and will be there soon.”
“Wait there…I’ll come to pick you up.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, yes, I’m coming.” Lilianna hurriedly assured him, wiping her tears away with a swipe of her hand. She shifted the car into gear and sped toward the airport.

Ava hurriedly gathered her things and stepped out of the office. She wanted to reach the villa before Lilianna. But as she turned the corner, she collided with Dylan, nearly losing her balance.
“Whoa!” Dylan’s hands instinctively gripped her shoulders, steadying her. A flicker of surprise danced across his face. “Where are you rushing off to?”
“I–I’m leaving,” Ava stammered, taking a step back to put some space between them. She avoided his gaze, trying to keep her flustered expression hidden.
“Leaving early?” Dylan teased, amusement glinting in his eyes. Leaning closer, he added in a playful whisper, “Are you planning to cook dinner for me?”
Ava froze. She had indeed planned to cook, but not for him. Gritting her teeth, she jabbed a finger into his chest, pushing him back slightly. “Don’t get ahead of yourself. I’m not the Ava who used to cook for you or wait all night wondering if you’d come home. I’m leaving early because Lilianna is coming over.”
Her sharp tone and cold words didn’t faze him. Instead, Dylan’s grin deepened as he stepped closer, wrapping an arm around her waist. He pulled her gently toward him as he whispered, “Not just Lilianna. Her husband is joining us for dinner too.” His warm breath caressed her cheek.
Ava didn’t push him away this time, her composure cracking momentarily as she stared at him with her wide eyes. “Is he here?”
“Mm.” Dylan nodded. “He called me just now. I told him to head straight to the villa.”
“So—” Ava began, but Dylan interrupted smoothly.
“So, we’re leaving together. We need to buy some gifts for them.”
Before Ava could protest or even process his words, Dylan swept her away.
At the airport…
Lilianna spotted Henry and, without hesitation, she rushed into his arms. As she wrapped herself around him tightly, the emotions she had been holding back broke free. She buried herself in his chest, seeking the comfort only he could provide. The sting of Lydia’s cruel words and the weight of Dylan’s crumbling marriage overwhelmed her, leaving her unable to hold back her grief.
Henry stroked her hair gently, trying to console her. “I thought you’d be happy to see me,” he murmured teasingly. “But here you are, crying like a little girl.”
Normally, Lilianna would have laughed or swatted him playfully, but this time, she didn’t respond. Instead, her sobs grew deeper, and her trembling body in his arms sent a pang of worry through him. His teasing smile vanished as concern clouded his features.
“Lili,” he said softly, holding her chin and lifting her face to meet his gaze. Her tear-streaked face broke his heart. “What’s wrong? Did Lydia say something to you?”

Henry had heard that Lydia had returned. He was well aware of her hostility toward him and Lilianna. That was why he had rushed over to take his wife away right from the medical conference.
Lilianna shook her head. “It’s about Dylan and Ava,” she crocked. “They… they’re getting divorced.”
“Divorced!” Henry repeated, surprised. “Why? What happened?”
“I don’t know what went wrong. They never mentioned anything to me, and then I saw that divorce agreement… It’s so hard to believe.” Lilianna’s thoughts swirled. “Maybe it’s because of Gianna… Maybe Ava wasn’t happy with him. I don’t know. They haven’t told me about their divorce yet. I need to talk to them.”
“Alright, I get it.” Henry held her close again, his hand firm on her back. “You are worrying too much for minor issues.” He tried to downplay this matter to alleviate the tension from her. “Dylan and Ava are adults, Lili. They’re smart enough to sort out their own problems. Let them handle it. You shouldn’t stress yourself over this.”
Brushing a hand gently across her cheek, he added, “Now, now, I want to see that smile of yours. This gloomy look doesn’t suit you at all.”
A small laugh escaped Lilianna’s lips, her hand playfully swatting his arm. “You’re impossible. You know how to make me laugh.”
“Ah, there it is,” Henry said, grinning widely. He pulled her into a warm hug. “That’s what I’ve been missing.”
“You’re in the mood to tease me, huh?” she muttered with amusement and exasperation.
“Are you going to list all your complaints here, or do you plan to leave this place?” Henry leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. “If you want, I can book our tickets right now, and we can fly back home.”
But Lilianna’s playful demeanor vanished, replaced with firm resolve. “I’m not going anywhere until I resolve things between Dylan and Ava.”
Henry’s grin faded as well, and his tone turned serious. “Don’t do this, Lili. I won’t be here long, and you need to come back with me. I can’t leave you here alone. You’re pregnant, remember?”
“I know,” she breathed. “But I’m not running away this time. Four years ago, I left Dylan alone, and that gave Lydia the chance to manipulate him. Not again.” She shook her head. “I’ll help Dylan clear up whatever misunderstandings he has with Ava. And you’re going to help me.”
Henry shrugged in resignation. Lilianna had always been stubborn, and he found it nearly impossible to deny her anything. Besides, he loved her too much and couldn’t say no to her. “Alright,” he relented. “I’ll stay for one week. Resolve whatever you need to within that time. But after that, you’re coming home with me. No arguments. Understood?”
His no-nonsense tone left little room for negotiation, and Lilianna nodded, grateful. “Thank you.” She smiled.
Henry smiled back, though a hint of concern lingered in his eyes. “Just don’t overdo it, okay? You have to take care of yourself and the baby.”
“I will. I promise.”
