Chapter 173: Admit it.
You are jealous.
Chapter 173: Admit it.
You are jealous.
Dylan took some time to process what he had just heard.
He had imagined many things about why Ava had met with Nicholas.
He had assumed they might have been talking about the new business they had started or maybe they had been just spending some quality time together, planning about their future.
But what she had said was something that had never crossed his mind.
His heart thumped with joy and adoration as he realized she still cared about him even though she didn’t voice it.
“Were you worried about me?” he asked, smiling playfully.
“Worried?” Ava had indeed been worried, but she masked her emotions.
She snorted, crossing her arms defensively.
“I was just curious, that’s all.” “Curious, huh?” Dylan’s lips curved into a mischievous grin.
“Or maybe€¦jealous?” “Jealous?” Ava repeated incredulously, rolling her eyes.
“Please.
I couldn’t care less who you’re with or what you’re doing.” Her sharp tone only seemed to amuse Dylan more.
He leaned forward, his smirk deepening.
“Come on, Ava.
Admit it.
You thought I was off enjoying myself with some gorgeous woman, right?” The smirk on his face annoyed Ava.
“Ridiculous!” she snapped, her cheeks flushing.
Annoyed, she abruptly stood, intending to walk away.
But before she could take a step, Dylan’s hand shot out, capturing her wrist in a firm hold.
In a flash, he pulled her down.
Ava’s whole body collapsed on his lap, her hands flat on his chest.
Before she could rise and flee, his arms circled her, holding her securely as he tilted his head closer.
His lips crashed against hers in a sudden, fiery kiss, his boldness catching her completely off guard.
Ava froze, her mind reeling from the unexpected intimacy.
When his tongue stroked hers, she came to her senses and pushed him away.
“You€¦” She glared at him.

“What?” Dylan interrupted, a smug grin spreading across his face.
“You don’t like it.” Before Ava could retort, Dylan shifted her onto the sofa, his movements quick and precise.
He leaned over her, his weight pressing her.
“Then let me kiss you this way.” His lips descended again.
This time, his kiss was slower, every movement deliberate and sensual.
“Mm-” Ava protested, struggling against him.
But Dylan was relentless.
His hands pinned hers firmly above her head, his gaze burning into hers.
“You care about me more than you want to admit,” he murmured against her lips.
Ava’s breath hitched, her resolve wavering as her world narrowed to the man who held her captive in more ways than one.
Dylan kissed her again, drawing her deeper into his world.
Ava couldn’t move and couldn’t push him away.
As his kiss grew gentler and hotter, her struggles grew weaker and weaker.
She found herself lowering her guard, her rigid muscles relaxing.
Her breathing grew faster, her body craving for more.
Instinctively, she arched her body against him, wanting to pull him closer and melt in his warmth.
She parted her lips and closed her eyes, ready to kiss him back.
But he stopped.
Ava’s body tensed as Dylan pulled back, leaving her breathless and dazed.
Her heart was pounding like a drum, her lips still tingling from the heat of his kiss.
She blinked, disoriented as if waking from a dream.
Why had he stopped?
The thought struck her like a cold wave, washing over the warmth that had consumed her just moments ago.
She felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment, realizing how easily she had almost given in.
A flicker of annoyance sparked in her chest, quickly growing into a flame.
She squirmed beneath him.
“Get away from me,” she snapped.
Dylan didn’t move.
The way he looked at her made her heart race all over again, though she hated herself for it.
“Ava,” he said softly, “you don’t need to fight me every time you feel something.” His words only fueled her irritation.
“I feel nothing,” she shot back, wriggling harder against his hold.
“You think you can just kiss me like that and expect me to€¦” “Admit that you want me as much as I want you?” he interrupted, leaning closer, his breath warm against her skin.
Her heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, she faltered.
The intensity in his voice, the way his eyes searched hers-it was almost too much to bear.
But she wasn’t ready to give in to him.
“Let me go,” she demanded, pushing him harder this time.
Dylan didn’t care about her protest.
He put his hands on her cheeks, eyeing her lovingly.
“I went to Hawaii,” he said softly.
As soon as those words fell in her ears, she stopped moving.
Their gazes locked instantly.
‘Was he going to tell me the truth?’ Ava’s heart raced as she waited for his explanation.
“I got the information that Rylee was there with his family.” “Rylee?
You mean, Rylee Shaw, the former COO?” Ava blinked, stunned.
The thought that Dylan might have been tracking Rylee never crossed her mind.
“Yes.” He nodded.
“I’ve been looking for him these days.
When I learned that he was in Hawaii, I flew there immediately.
I interrogated him and found out shocking things.” “What did you find?” Ava’s curious gaze fixed on him.
“He confessed that he had authorized those transactions, but he was forced to do so,” Dylan replied.
“Someone had been threatening him.” “Who?” But Dylan didn’t answer right away.
He just held her gaze, his expression unreadable, as if weighing whether or not to share the secret.
Dylan had his own plan to trap Erica.
But Rylee’s confession wasn’t enough to put her in jail.
A cunning woman like Erica would easily get away.
He and Rylee had planned to trap her and that was why he had lifted the ban, asking her to come back.
As his silence stretched, Ava’s patience snapped.
“Why are you silent now?” she grunted.
“Someone is playing games behind the scenes,” he finally opened his mouth.
“I don’t have the evidence yet, but I’m getting closer.
Soon, everything will come to light.” Ava’s gaze stayed locked on his, feeling both reassured and unsettled.
She searched his face, her mind racing.
There was something he wasn’t telling her-she could feel it.
But there was also an unmistakable sincerity in his words that made it hard for her not to trust him.
Before she could respond, he leaned in, capturing her lips in a kiss.
The kiss wasn’t as intense or impulsive as the last.
It was soft, almost hesitant, as though he were silently asking for her trust.
Ava’s initial surprise melted into a warmth that spread through her chest.
She forgot to protest.
Despite the complexity of their relationship, she found herself surrendering to him.
In the meantime, Justin knocked on the door twice before entering.
But he froze in his tracks when he saw the scene.
He turned abruptly to face the wall, silently cursing himself for not waiting.
