Chapter 179: Do you want me to complain?
Henry entered the emergency room with hurried steps, his heart heavy with guilt and worry.
His eyes fell on Lilianna lying on the bed, pale and fragile, an IV drip connected to her arm.
The sight made his chest tighten.
Turning to the nurse stationed nearby, he asked urgently, “What happened to her?” “Her BP dropped, and she fainted.
She is stable now.” Henry nodded slowly, a pang of guilt cutting through him like a knife.
He had been so caught up in his work that he hadn’t noticed her condition.
“Arrange a private room for her,” he instructed.
“Of course, doctor.
It’ll just take a moment,” the nurse replied before stepping out of the room.
Henry moved closer to Lilianna’s bed.
He reached out and gently clasped her hand in his, his thumb grazing over her knuckles.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, and his heart sank further.
Pressing a tender kiss to the back of her hand, he added softly, “I promise I won’t let you down again.” Once Lilianna was transferred to a private ward, Henry settled into a chair beside her bed, refusing to leave her side.
His gaze lingered on her face, his emotions swirling in a mix of love, guilt, and fear.
He brushed a strand of hair from her face and gently caressed her forehead.
Lilianna had always been his anchor, standing by him silently through his long nights at the hospital and his early morning departures.
She had never complained, not even when his dedication to his career pulled him away from her time and time again.
Instead, she always smiled, wished him luck, and encouraged him to chase his dreams.
She was his backbone, the reason for his success.
But he often forgot to check on her because of his busy schedule.
But seeing her like this, weak and pale, his heart ached.
Henry felt an unfamiliar fear creeping into his chest.
He had performed countless surgeries, but his hands had never trembled.
His confidence had never faltered.
For the first time, he couldn’t keep his hands steady.
He felt the same fear he had seen in the eyes of so many family members waiting outside the operating room, praying for the safety of their loved ones.
Henry leaned closer as he gently called out, “Wake up, Lili.
Talk to me.” As though his words reached her, Lilianna stirred faintly, her lashes fluttering open.

The bright hospital lights above her made her squint, and she squeezed her eyes shut for a moment before opening them again.
Her gaze landed on the familiar figure by her bedside.
“Henry,” she mumbled.
Henry’s tense shoulders eased, and a small, relieved smile appeared on his face.
“How are you feeling now?” he asked gently.
“Do you feel dizzy or uncomfortable?” She managed a weak smile.
“No, I’m fine.
Sorry for troubling you.” “You never trouble me,” he said earnestly, his heart trembling with regret.
“It’s me who failed you.
I should’ve been taking care of you, but I let work consume me.
I’m sorry, Lili.
Please forgive me.” He pressed his lips against the back of her hand, looking at her apologetically.
“Forgiven,” she said, smiling.
“Really?” He smiled, grateful.
But the pang of regret and guilt lingered in his heart.
“You aren’t angry with me.
You know, most wives would complain, argue, or at least grumble if their husbands neglected them the way I have.
Why don’t you?” Lilianna bit her lip, suppressing a laugh at his earnestness.
“Do you want me to complain?” “Yes,” he said without hesitation, his expression serious.
“If you’re upset, let me know.
Don’t hide it.
If I’ve disappointed you, tell me.
Argue with me, fight with me-anything.
I want the chance to make things right, to pacify you.
But you never fight with me or complain about anything.
I need to know how to make it up to you.” This time, Lilianna couldn’t help but chuckle.
“I have no complaints about you,” she said softly.
“You make me happy.
Always.
You make me proud to be your wife.
Why would I be upset with you?” Henry’s heart swelled at her words, but the guilt he carried only deepened.
Her unwavering support and love were a reminder of how much she gave him without asking for anything in return.
He felt lucky to have her as his wife, his heart overflowing with admiration and gratitude for her.
“You are something, Lili€¦ You don’t hold any disappointment in your heart, do you?
I’ve often left you alone and neglected you for work.
Don’t you think I should give you more of my time?” Lilianna clasped his hands in hers.
“I’d love to,” she replied with a tender smile, “but what would happen to the patients who are waiting for you?
Saving lives is more important than entertaining your wife, don’t you think?” Her words were full of understanding.
“It’s enough for me that you love me, cherish me, and remain loyal.” Her answer filled Henry’s chest with warmth and contentment.
“My love for you will always remain the same, but you need to tell me when you’re upset.
Don’t keep it to yourself, thinking I’m too busy.” “Mm,” she nodded, “I’ll keep that in mind.” Henry leaned in and gently kissed her.
“I’ve talked to the dean,” he murmured against her lips.
“I clearly told him that I wouldn’t take any new cases.
We can go now.” He deepened the kiss.
But Lilianna wasn’t ready to leave yet.
She wanted to make sure that Erica got the punishment.
She gently pulled away from him, a flicker of concern passing through her eyes.
“Can we stay a little longer?” she asked hopefully.
Henry let out a small sigh.
“You know I can never say no to you.
But it’s already late.
The hospital called me.
We really need to head back.” Lilianna, understanding that he couldn’t delay any longer, relented.
“Alright, let’s go back.” “Yes.” He kissed her again, and Lilianna kissed him back, her hands slipping around his neck.
~~~~~~~~~~ When Dylan arrived at the office, he found Ava had left already.
He was a bit surprised.
“Why did she leave so early?” he asked, squinting at Justin.
“Is she not feeling well?” Justin hesitated a bit before replying, “Actually, Erica is in town.
She came to the office and met Ava Madam as soon as she landed.
Maybe she said something that made Ava Madam upset.” “Oh,” Dylan nodded thoughtfully, murmuring, “she has already started scheming.” “It’s a known fact.
Erica will stir up things.
Anyway€¦I found the culprit who posted those photos on social media.” Justin’s tone turned grim.
“Who is it?” Dylan’s eyes sharpened instantly.
“It’s Jodie,” Justin replied.
