My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 180
Chapter 180: I care about you.
Chapter 180: I care about you.
“Bring her here,” Dylan hissed, scrunching up his face.
“I want to deal with her personally.” Justin shrugged in disappointment.
“She left as soon as we began the investigation.
My focus was on Miss Nina because of her suspicious behavior, and that allowed Jodie to slip away.
But don’t worry, I’ve already sent someone to track her down.
She won’t get away.” “Don’t let her escape,” Dylan let out a low growl of irritation.
“She is close to Erica.
I am sure she knows a lot about Erica’s schemes.” Justin nodded, his gaze drifting to the file in his hand.
It was then that he remembered Ava had entrusted it to him.
He placed it in front of Dylan.
“This is the file Ava Madam asked me to give you.” “What is it?” Dylan’s curiosity piqued, and he quickly opened the file, only to find a detailed report on Carter Group, which exposed the company’s web of lies.
A smile spread across his face.
“Is Carter Group still trying to get an appointment with us?” he asked, closing the file.
“Yes, they are growing more desperate for your appointment.” “Set up a meeting with them,” Dylan ordered confidently, rising to his feet.
“I’m going home now.
Call me if you have any updates on Jodie.” He walked out of the office.
Dylan came home with the hope of seeing Ava fuming in anger, ready for an argument.
He braced himself for her sharp questions as he went into the bedroom.
But to his dismay, she was nowhere to be seen.
His disappointment flared, and he planted his hands firmly on his hips, elbows jutting out in frustration.
“You really know how to piss me off,” he muttered under his breath.
Dylan pulled out his phone and dialed her number.
The call rang through, but when it went unanswered, his annoyance deepened.
He quickly dialed her number again, but once again, there was no answer.
“Huh?” he breathed, scowling at the screen.
“Ava, my patience has its limits.
Answer the damn phone.” He called again.
The tension in his jaw tightened was palpable as he pressed the phone to his ear once more, irritation building in his chest.

Before he could even hear a full ring, the call was abruptly disconnected.
His fingers tightened around the phone as he looked down at the screen.
This wasn’t how he planned for the evening to go.
Dylan stared at the phone in disbelief, a dry chuckle escaping him.
“Deliberately avoiding me, huh?
Well, Ava, you’re not getting away that easily.” Gripping the phone a little tighter, he quickly typed out a message: ‘Why aren’t you answering my calls?
I need to talk to you.’ He hit the ‘send’ button and fixated on the screen, his eyes unblinking as he awaited her reply.
The silence that followed grated on his nerves.
His foot tapped an impatient rhythm on the floor.
A few seconds passed and then his phone buzzed.
His heart leaped as he saw Ava’s message.
Dylan clicked on the message instantly.
‘Stop calling me.
I don’t want to talk to you.’ “What?” Dylan groaned, his brows pulling into a deep frown as he typed a response: ‘Why won’t you talk to me?
If you’re upset, just tell me directly.
Don’t ignore me.’ The message was sent in a flash, and Dylan waited, tension thrumming in his veins.
Her reply arrived moments later.
‘If you know I’m ignoring you, why don’t you just stop contacting me?’ “Really?” He snorted, his patience snapping.
“You think you can get rid of me?
You are wrong.
In this lifetime, I’ll never let you go.” He redialed her number.
This time, the call connected, and Dylan exhaled, relief momentarily easing his tension.
“Thank goodness you picked up.” “What is it, Dylan?
Why are you pestering me?” Ava snapped.
“I’ve made it clear I don’t want to talk to you.
Why can’t you just leave me alone?” “That’s exactly what I can’t do,” Dylan replied without missing a beat, his resolve remained firm.
“I’m back now, Ava.
Come home.” “I’m not going back there,” she stated flatly.
“This villa is yours,” Dylan reminded her.
“I don’t want it.
Take it back.” Dylan’s chest tightened at her response, but his resolve only hardened.
“You can try pushing me away, but I’m not giving up on you.
Not now, not ever.” He exhaled deeply, his frustration mingled with helplessness.
“Ava, this house is more than just a place.
It’s where we started our life together after our marriage.
Whether you like it or not, it’s yours.
I’ve already handed it over to you.
If you refuse to live here, fine-but I’ll move out.” Ava stayed silent on the other end.
For a brief moment, Dylan’s heart lifted with hope, thinking she might agree.
But her response shattered that hope instantly.
“I don’t care whether you stay or leave.
I’m not coming back.” Dylan shrugged, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
He knew she was angry, but the sharp edge in her voice stung.
“You’re upset because Erica’s back, aren’t you?” Ava didn’t reply.
“Listen to me,” Dylan urged, his tone gentler now.
“I have my reasons€¦” “I don’t want to hear them!” Ava cut him off.
“Do whatever you want.
Bring her into the house, send her away, I don’t care.
Why bother explaining anything to me?
Why do you even care what I think?” “Because I care about you,” he exclaimed, interrupting her.
“I’ve realized how much you mean to me.” The line went silent for a moment.
Dylan waited, his chest heaving, hoping his words would reach her.
But the silence stretched.
Conflicting emotions swirled in her mind.
Her heart fluttered at Dylan’s words, the sincerity in his voice pulling at her guarded heartstrings.
She had yearned for his care, his acknowledgment of her worth, and now he was offering it, but she was scared to put her faith in him.
‘If he truly cared, why did he bring Erica back?’ The thought echoed bitterly in her mind.
“We have a meeting with Mr.
Carter tomorrow,” Dylan said, changing the topic all of a sudden.
“I need you with me for the meeting.” Ava thought for a while.
She couldn’t ignore her work because of her personal disputes.
“Okay, I’ll be there.” Before Dylan could say further, the line went dead.
The abruptness left him staring at the phone.
He exhaled heavily, setting the device on the nightstand.
Even though he wasn’t successful in convincing her to come back, he didn’t lose hope.
He still had a chance to explain.
‘I’ll talk to her tomorrow,’ he resolved.
