My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 195
Chapter 195: The lingering chaos at the hospital Chapter 195: The lingering chaos at the hospital Ava stared at Dylan, her mouth agape in shock.
Disbelief mingled with anger in her gaze.
Her lips parted to voice her frustration, but before she could speak, the guards stepped forward, gripping Mathew Fisher’s arms and beginning to haul him away.
“Dr.
Smith, please save me,” Mathew hollered.
“This is outrageous.
How can you allow such hooliganism in a hospital?” The Dean raised a hand, halting the guards in their tracks.
His expression was calm but authoritative.
“Dr.
Fisher, please cooperate in the investigation,” he said firmly.
Mathew’s frantic eyes darted between the Dean and the guards.
“Investigation?
For what?” he asked frantically.
Ava, equally perplexed, couldn’t stay silent.
“What’s going on?
What investigation are you talking about?” “He initially refused to do the surgery,” Dylan explained, meeting Ava’s gaze.
“But then he suddenly changed his mind once we finalized Doctor Henry.
Your action is suspicious.” Mathew tried to defend himself.
“Yes, I admit I refused initially, but I thought-” “Take him away,” Dylan interrupted sharply, without further explanation.
“Dr.
Smith!
Help me, please!” Mathew shouted again as the guards resumed dragging him away.
“Just cooperate, Dr.
Fisher.
Let the investigation proceed.” The Dean gave a dismissive wave, his face impassive.
Mathew’s protests faded as the guards escorted him down the hallway.
Ava stood frozen, her mind reeling in shock as she tried to process the mess around her.
Ethan approached gently, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulders.
“Ava, come and sit down,” he urged softly.
Dylan’s already volatile mood darkened further at the sight of Ethan’s touch.

“Keep your hands off of her,” he snapped, forcefully pushing Ethan away.
Ethan staggered, his legs knocking against the row of chairs lined up nearby.
Despite the jolt, he quickly steadied himself.
He glared at him.
“Aren’t you tired of all this drama?
I’m just helping her.” Dylan’s patience snapped.
“Stay fucking away from her,” he warned, thrusting a finger menacingly toward Ethan.
Ava couldn’t contain herself any longer.
“Enough, Dylan.
It’s already messy here.
Don’t make things worse.
If you really want to help me, bring Henry right away.” Her lower lip trembled as she spoke, emotions flooding her.
Dylan’s stern facade softened as he met Ava’s tear-filled eyes.
“He will be here soon,” he said, his tone gentle this time.
“Don’t worry.” Ethan wasn’t satisfied and pressed further.
“Why is he taking so long?
Shouldn’t he be here immediately if he has taken responsibility for the patient?
It seems like Dr.
Henry is irresponsible.
He shouldn’t be performing the surgery.
What if he killed Mr.
Williams?” Before he could finish the sentence, Dylan threw a punch, which landed squarely on Ethan’s face.
Ethan stumbled, the metallic taste of blood filling his mouth as he struggled to maintain his footing.
His eyes hardened, anger blazing within them.
Ava reached out instinctively to help Ethan, but Dylan was quicker, yanking her back by the arm with a fierce grip.
“Get out of here,” he roared.
Ethan balled his fingers and shot a glare back at him.
“I am here for Ava and Mr.
Williams.
Who are you to ask me to leave?” “You€¦” Dylan took a step toward him, ready to beat him again.
“Stop it, Dylan,” Ava cried, tugging at his arm to halt him.
“I’m begging you, please stop.” Dylan hesitated, his rage momentarily tempered by the sight of her distress.
But the fiery contempt he felt for Ethan still simmered within him.
“Tell him to leave,” he demanded through gritted teeth.
With a small nod, she turned to Ethan.
“Leave, Ethan.” “Ava!” Ethan’s face twisted in disbelief and hurt.
“You’re asking me to leave because of him?
We’re family, remember?” “Just leave,” she crocked, helplessness evident in her eyes.
“Try to understand.” Ethan rolled his fists at his sides as he stood frozen momentarily, a storm brewing inside him.
With a frustrated sigh and a bitter glance at Dylan, he finally walked away.
Ava’s knees threatened to buckle under the weight of the situation.
She felt Dylan’s steady hands in her arms but couldn’t bring herself to look at him.
As Ethan came out of the hospital, he slid into the driver’s seat, slamming the door shut.
“Dylan, Dylan, Dylan,” he muttered.
“It’s always him.
That man betrayed you, abandoned you, shattered you…
yet all you can see is him.
Him and only him!” He slammed his fist against the steering wheel.
“I’ve stood by you all my life.
I’ve been there through everything, but you’ve never looked at me.
Never cared about how I felt.
It’s always been Dylan.
Always.” His voice reverberated in the confines of the car, his breathing quick and shallow.
He rolled his hands around the steering wheel as he tried to reign on his temper.
“Fine.
If he is all that matters to you, don’t blame me for what comes next.” Ethan yanked the car into gear and sped out onto the street.
Inside the hospital€¦ Ava threw Dylan a scorching glare.
“Why do you always have to pick a fight?
We’re in a hospital, Dylan!
My father is fighting for his life, and all you can think about is your ego.
Do you even care about what I’m going through?” Dylan regretted losing his temper.
He hated seeing her so upset, but the sight of Ethan with her had ignited a fury he couldn’t suppress.
“I do care about you.” Ava shrugged, shoving his hands away.
“And what about those guards of yours?
How dare you stop a doctor from doing his job?
If Henry is unavailable and can’t come to the hospital, why not let that doctor perform the surgery?
My father doesn’t have time to wait!” “Do you trust that doctor?” He stared at her incredulously.
“The same doctor who refused to treat your father in the first place?” “But he agreed to do it eventually, didn’t he?” Ava shot back.
“What more do you want?
Why are you making this harder?” “I don’t trust him,” Dylan replied firmly.
“He delayed your father’s surgery for no valid reason.
Because of his initial refusal, no other doctor dared to step in.
So, I have to reach Henry.
But someone kidnapped him to stop him from reaching the hospital.” “Kidnapping?” she mumbled in shock, her fingers pressing against her lips.
“And then, as if nothing happened, that same doctor suddenly decided he was ready to operate.
Don’t you think that’s suspicious?”
