My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back - Chapter 199
Chapter 199: Game of vengeance Chapter 199: Game of vengeance Henry brought Dylan into a room.
He gestured to a chair near the desk.
“Take a seat,” he said briskly, moving toward the sink to wash his hands.
Dylan complied, settling into the chair with a composed demeanor.
“Don’t tell Lilianna about the kidnapping.
I don’t want her to worry.” “I won’t breathe a word,” Dylan assured him.
Henry turned to him, wiping his hands.
“Do you truly believe Dr.
Fisher is involved in the kidnapping?” He squinted at him inquisitively.
“He might not be the mastermind, but he is part of this twisted game of vengeance,” Dylan said with confidence.
He believed Lydia was behind this.
“Game of vengeance?” Henry echoed, tilting his head.
“Do you have someone in mind?” “I do,” Dylan admitted.
“But I don’t have any concrete proof yet.” He leaned closer, his piercing gaze locking onto Henry’s.
“I need you to do something for me.
Don’t ask any questions, because I can’t answer them.
Just do it.” Henry grew perplexed.
“What do you want me to do?” “I need you to test Thomas,” Dylan said in a hushed tone.
“Check if there is any sign he has been poisoned.
Look for anything that could have triggered his heart attack.” “Poison?
What are you saying?” “No questions,” Dylan hissed, with warning in his eyes.
“Just do it.” “I need to understand why,” Henry pressed.
Dylan sighed, feeling rather helpless.
How could he possibly explain it all to Henry?
Could he admit that he had been reborn, retaining the memories of a past life?
If he confessed that his suspicion stemmed from a haunting nightmare where a faceless woman- possibly Lydia-poisoned both him and Thomas, leading to their deaths, Henry would probably send him straight to a psychiatrist.
“Not now.
This is bigger than you know.
I’ll explain everything later,” Dylan assured him, though he had no plan of telling him about his rebirth.
Just trust me on this.” Henry stared at him for a long moment, trying to make sense of the veiled urgency in Dylan’s words.

“Keep this between us,” Dylan continued.
“Do the tests discreetly at your hospital, not here.
When you have the results, call me directly.” Henry studied Dylan’s face, skepticism lingering in his eyes, but the earnestness in Dylan’s tone swayed him.
“Alright,” he relented.
“I’ll do it.” Meanwhile, Lilianna entered the hospital, her gaze scanning the waiting area until she spotted Ava.
“Ava, why are you sitting here alone?” she asked, approaching her.
“Where is Dylan?” Ava looked up and greeted her warmly.
“He is with Henry.
Thank you for coming here.” She reached out and held her hands.
“We are still family, Ava.
I’ll support you always.” Lilianna sat beside her, curiosity lighting her face.
“By the way, what is Dylan doing with Henry?
Are they planning something together?” Her lips formed a playful smile.
Ava almost mentioned the kidnapping but decided against it.
Lilianna didn’t need to know-it would only unsettle her, and the matter was resolved now that Henry was safe.
Instead, she shrugged lightly.
“I’m not sure.
They’re probably discussing something about my father, I guess.
The good thing is that the surgery was successful.” “I knew it,” Lilianna said with a proud smile.
“Henry is the best.” Warmth spread across Ava’s face.
“I’m grateful to him.
I don’t know how to thank him properly.” “Have lunch with me,” Lilianna demanded, “and spend some time with me.
This will make me happy.
I am happy means he is happy.
That’s how you can thank him.” Ava chuckled softly, touched by her sweetness.
“That’s such a lovely idea.
I’d love to spend time with you.” “Then let’s go,” Lilianna said enthusiastically, pulling Ava to her feet.
Together, they exited the hospital.
Lilianna and Ava entered the cozy restaurant and found a quiet corner table.
As they settled in, Lilianna’s face lit up with a radiant smile.
“You know, this place holds a special connection to my past,” she began with a touch of nostalgia.
“Really?” Ava was genuinely curious.
“What kind of connection?” Lilianna’s gaze drifted around, bittersweet memories resurfacing.
“Back when Dylan was going through a tough time, suffering from severe depression.
He often had panic attacks that landed him in the city hospital.” Hearing this, Ava’s smile faded.
She grew serious as she listened to Lilianna.
“During that period, I used to come here often to eat,” Lilianna continued.
“It was here that I met Henry for the first time.” “Oh, really?” Ava’s face brightened with interest, the heaviness lifting slightly.
“You met Henry here for the first time.
That’s so fascinating!” Lilianna nodded, beaming with a smile.
“He was working as an intern at the city hospital back then.
He’d come here with his friends to grab a meal after long shifts.” “That’s amazing!” Ava leaned forward, propping her chin on her hand, her elbow resting on the table.
“I want to know everything!
How did you two end up becoming close?” With a soft laugh, Lilianna started, “Well, it all started on a really bad day for me.
I was upset and couldn’t hold back my tears.
I was sitting here, trying to hide how broken I felt when Henry came over and asked if I was okay.” A nostalgic smile spread across her face as she continued, “At first, I didn’t want to talk to anyone.
But there was something so genuine in him, in the way he looked at me, that I couldn’t help but open up.
We talked, and from that day, we became friends.
We exchanged numbers, started seeing each other more often, and€¦ well, we fell in love.” Ava sat quietly as she watched Lilianna recount her love story with Henry.
She could see the genuine happiness radiating from her as she spoke.
She had always dreamed of such loving moments with Dylan, but nothing like that had happened.
She had believed things would improve between them after their marriage, but it had never happened.
“We became inseparable,” Lilianna continued.
“Honestly, I found myself depending on him for my peace of mind.
Whenever I was with Henry, everything else just faded away.
He made me feel so loved, so truly happy.
I just wanted to be by his side all the time.” Ava managed a small smile, though her heart clenched tightly.
She had also imagined that marrying Dylan would make her the happiest person on the planet.
Unfortunately, the happiness she had envisioned never materialized.
“When Henry told me he was leaving town to move to another city,” Lilianna added, “I didn’t even hesitate.
I decided right then and there to go with him.
I left everything behind to be with him.” “I remember,” Ava murmured.
“But your aunt made such a big fuss at the time.” She forced a lighthearted smile, trying to shake off the bitterness that threatened to settle over her thoughts.
Lilianna groaned, rolling her eyes dramatically.
“Ugh, don’t remind me.
She is the reason I left so abruptly.
I just couldn’t stand her interference anymore.
I don’t like her, you know.” “Me neither.” The two women burst into laughter.
“You are lucky, Lilianna,” Ava said.
“You have got such a loving and caring husband.” “I do not doubt that,” Lilianna chirped, feeling proud to be Henry’s wife.
“And you’re lucky too, Ava.
You’re strong, independent, and fearless.
I admire that about you.
And, let’s not forget-you have Dylan.
Trust me, he is changing for the better.
He is serious about you, I can tell.”
